Trina Schart Hyman (1939-2004) was a very shy child, and was afraid of many things. Her love of drawing was developed early in her childhood. She played fantasy games with her sister, Karleen, and drew a lot. She studied at Philadelphia Museum College of Art. She was a winner of the Horn Award for King Stork. She illustrated over 150 children’s books.
