Air Battle Force Audiobook Summary

On America’s newest combat base, U.S. Air Force aerial warfare expert Major General Patrick McLanahan and his crew of daring engineers are devising the air combat unit of the future. Known as Air Battle Force, it can launch concentrated, stealthy, precision-guided firepower to any spot on the globe within hours. And soon McLanahan and his warriors will have their first target.

Chased out of Afghanistan, Taliban fighters are planning to invade the neighboring oil-rich Republic of Turkmenistan, an isolated and wealthy central Asian state. As alliances form and forces collide, the impending battle for control of the world’s largest oil deposits threatens to tear apart the tenuous peace created by America’s victories in Afghanistan. It’s up to McLanahan and a handful of American commandos half a world away, aided by an untested and unproven force of robotic warplanes, to win a war in which everyone — even “friendly” forces at home — wants them to fail.

Performed by David McCallum.

#11 in the series with an ending which clearly foretells there will be a #12 following soon with only minimally more subtly than a bolded TO BE CONTINUED...If there's one particular thing I take from this book it's that Patrick McLanahan is a terrible employee always seeming to be at odd with whatever it is his bosses want. No matter how seemingly reasonable or logical the request is, like a boundary testing toddler, McLananhan immediately does the opposite.Passes the time, but there's better books in the series.

Dale Brown is a good "ripped from the headlines" novelist. When he wrote this back in 2003, he knew that Russia was going to become resurgent and flex its muscles again. Whether it is the Ukraine or the former Soviet republics in the "-stans", Russia's bomber force is a good force. The problem with Dale Brown was his "President Thorn" - a US President wants a massive draw-down and removal of US overseas military presence. This is as close to Obama and Biden as you can get without being political. Unfortunately, whether in the real world or in fiction, such a person is disastrous. The end of the novel sets up for the next two novels as General Gryzlov becomes the new president and takes his revenge.

I enjoyed this fast paced and exciting novel in the Patrick McLanahan series. McLanahan and his team of engineers have put together an air combat unit of the future known as Air Battle Force. Their first target is the oil rich Republic of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. As the series progresses it is fun to see how McLanahan and his team come up with new and better weapons.

Air Battle ForceAnother excellent story by Dale Brown. The US gets involved with the Taliban moving in to Turkmenistan. The Russians try to take over the country ad end up fighting against everyone else. Patrick then brings his forces in to pit them against the Russians.

This was a fast read for me!I enjoyed the story and the characters in it, even the "bad" guys were well written.Patrick McLanahan is up to his "hi jinx" again, not sure if I still "like" him or not. Still an enjoyable story and I will be looking forward to reading the next one as well.

Another solid performance by Brown in this book. One of the first, though with a clear lead in to the next book. I've really enjoyed this series, and find that Brown seems to know how much detail about technologic systems and flight minutia to include, and better, how much to leave out.

Good, fun, escapist, riveting futuristic action with crusty old warhorse Patrick McLanahan. More than a dozen novels in this series, and Brown keeps churning out the fun.

Very detailedDale Brown is an amazing author, I have read many of his books. The detail in which he describes the planes and weapons used is like drawing a picture on the page.
