1. Amelia Bedelia is very well known character present in a multitude of children's books. This book is one of the Amelia Bedelia series, but in this one she is at a bake sale. Amelia and her friend's host a bake sale to raise money for their school library. When everyone brings the same desert to the bake sale, Amelia helps come up with an idea so they can still draw in business for the library. Through this plan the student's realize that each baked good is different in their own special way, a lesson that can be translated in many life situations. This fun book keeps kids laughing as they follow Amelia Bedelia's experience in her bake-sale. 2. This book teaches children basic lessons of uniqueness, business, the importance of giving back, and even some little facts about brownies.3. I really enjoyed reading this book. Amelia Bedelia is a famous book character I was familiar with. This book is a little longer and I thought included some very good vocabulary words for children to become familiar with. I liked how the plot took many turns, and even included some little cliche's such as 'you can't have your cake, and eat it'. 4. I would definitely recommend this book to people. As it is a beginning elementary reader book, it is a little longer than other picture books. I would also recommend this book as it is part of a series. This allows student's to look for more Amelia Bedelia books, and encourages their interest in reading. The book also includes multiple lessons within it and I think teacher's could have lots of options in how to include this into a lesson.

The Amelia Bedelia books are a fantastic learning tool as children enter the preschool years and beyond for teaching figurative language. In addition to providing a comical story to explain the meaning behind a particular phrase, these stories also teach important life lessons. In this particular story Amelia raises money for her school library, and comes to learn the meaning behind the idiom 'take the cake'. This series provides different books depending on a child's reading level, increasing the complexity of the language and scenarios for more advanced readers. Amelia Bedelia books are a great tool to teach a child about the content, or semantic, aspects of language.

Parish makes this book entertaining with multiple "play on words" and misunderstandings, but there isn't much to the content. I'm assuming they made the giant brownie E for Edwards (their teacher), but it never says so. I don't think a beginning reader would make that connection.

It's Ameila Bedelia, only she is younger and in school. It's cute, it's punny, it's everything I want from an Ameila Bedelia story.
