Amelia Bedelia’s First Day of School Audiobook Summary

Amelia Bedelia goes to school and mixes up just about everything in this funny book about the childhood of the iconic character.

In the first book in the nationally bestselling series about the childhood of America’s favorite literal-minded housekeeper, Amelia Bedelia is sure that she will absolutely love school–after all, what’s not to love?

But after hopping on the bus “just like a bunny” (hurry up, sweetie!), confusing her name tag with a game (we are not playing tag), and gluing herself to her seat (oh, dear), Amelia Bedelia discovers that what she takes for granted is not always the way the world works. Still, friendships are formed, lessons are learned, and projects are completed, and through it all Amelia Bedelia’s teacher, Mrs. Edwards, offers gentle guidance and an open heart.

This book takes the grown up character from the old books and turns her into a small child. It made me puzzled when I pulled it outr of our library bag but as I read I was jsut as charmed with this as I was with the old books. A great read especially for small children heading into school.

Amelia Bedelia’s First Day of SchoolBy: Herman Parish 5 out of 5 stars This book was about Amelia Bedelia’s first day of school and everything she faced that she thought she never would. She doesn’t know where to go and she confuses everything together. I really liked this book because it’s super funny. I think any kid would enjoy it too for that same reason. The author does a good job playing with the words to give Amelia Bedelia her personality. I love this book.

Text to self connection- This humorous book about a girl who mixes everything up and does things in the literal sense. I am a very literal also analytical person also. Which causes me to overthink things at times. So not actually wrong, persay just her way/perception of what’s said to her. Although these books are very funny they always have such great lessons/outcomes. Besides laugher is good for the soul. I have read Peggy Parrish’s books since I was in elementary school.

I remember reading Amelia Bedeilia books when I was young and they were always some of my favorites. I love the way Amelia Bedelia is so literal and it makes the story amusing. I never noticed as a child how much Amelia is like a child with ADD, and as the mother of two boys with ADD I can totally relate to her antics.

Great book, I love this book I got this book from a Chick-fil-A kid’s meal. I read this book to my son and he loves this book. This is a cute story for young children. It has all the expected word play children have come to love and expect. Your young readers are sure to get a kick out of her silly book.

My daughters have read numerous Amelia Bedelia books, which are entertaining to read. This is the first Amelia Bedelia book that we have read showing her as a child. Just like the other Amelia Bedelia books, she takes things very literally which leads to some interesting and funny results. As you read the book, it may be a good idea to discuss what was really meant in each situation.

Love these books for their humor and clever word play. Some jokes are a bit over little ones' heads but still keep older readers chuckling. Amelia Bedelia is such a loveable character & this book is a fun introduction to school for kindergarteners and 1st graders.

I celebrate this book for its strong and independent female characters, but I prefer the old Amelia Bedelia.

I enjoyed this. I think the first graders liked it. The idea of it. The jokes went over their head. Every. One. Of. Them.

Very engaging and humorous book. The illustrations grabbed my attention with the amount of detail and onomatopoeia.
