Bought it at a book signing to I got a fist pump out of the deal! This is like the philosophical side of our Starchild. I can't imagine getting a lot out of this if you haven't read Face the Music ( which I think is a terrific rock star autobiography). Nor is it an intro book if you haven't been a KISS fan ( good and bad years). I appreciated his views and pathway to where he is now. None of us are the same we were in the 70's & 80's & we can't change the past. I follow him & other rock stars on social media & he is very engaging & respectful to his fans, more so than many others. Some may mock his attempt at being a Life Coach but think of how many of our generation haven't made it to this point even alive, much less well. I would also recommend his 2 books for any young people wanting to make in the music business and not become a tragic statistic.

Common sense and passionPaul Stanley is a man who wears many hats. All of them have one thing in common. A desire to succeed combined with a passion for self satisfaction. For me it will always be the epitome of what a Rock Star and front man should be. That is the man that resonates with me, but if you think that's all he is, you are sadly mistaken. Simply stated, he is and has always be my muse and my musical idol for many reasons. Long live The Starchild!

Not your typical rock and roll story, but as a long time fan I did find the book inspiring. The hard work and dedication to craft is what makes Paul as well as the band who they are today. I very much enjoyed the encouragement to try new things and to grow and to always seek to be the best version of oneself. For me, the book was very enlightening and enjoyable.

5 stars because this KISS fan likes hearing anecdotes from his life and to rate it anything less would feellike a betrayal.

Stanley's 2nd book is more of his views on life and things he learned throughout the years, especially in the past 20 years or so, from letting go of grudges to his views on family. Unlike his first book, Face The Music, the Kiss stories are only to explain his thoughts, and are far and between, but it doesn't hurt the book at all; this is still a good read , especially for fans of Stanley's, who would like to know why he took up painting and other aspects in his life that many do not see. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this book. I found it really inspiring and motivating because that’s what this book is: motivational. It’s not all gossip, secrets, and behind the scenes. He talks about how he looks at life and why. I really enjoyed this book and I honestly needed something like this to read, hearing it come from a rock legend is pretty amazing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Paul Stanley of the band KISS has a second book out. The first book was a rock biography. This one is basically the 68-year old greasepainted- rocker's advice on life, health, mind, body and spirit. It is not a KISS book, but I truly enjoyed his stories and ideas.

I really enjoyed this read and Paul’s story and perspectives! He achieved a place at the top of the mountain one down to earth step at a time; and as a consummate optimist, he inspires everyone (including me) to take a step, whatever that step may be for us, to take the step and keep going ONWARD!!

The best book on art, being creative, working hard, and not being a victim I have read since Steven Presfield's The War Of Art. Paul Stanley gets it, yo.

My experience with Kiss can be described pretty quickly. Around the age 7 or 8 (approximately 1977) they were my favorite band. I had never heard them, but boy did look cool on my collectable cards. Around that same time I dressed as Gene Simmons for Halloween. When I was about 45 I saw Kiss play live. That's it. I've never really been a fan of their music, I only know the radio songs and really, other than appreciating their accomplishments, I think they're pretty lame. So boy was I surprised to find that Paul Stanley is the musician I connect with the most out of all the musicians I've read about. I really enjoy biographies about musicians since I played in bands from about 1985 to 2015. I've read about Marilyn Manson, Flea, Tommy Lee, Anthony Kedis, Dave Mustaine, Keith Morris, Scott Ian etc... and most of the time I'm completely disheartened by these "success stories" almost completely eclipsed by tales of addiction and woe. This book reads almost like a "self-help" book. I can see many people being turned off by the semi-pretentious tone; instead of saying "this works for me" he's saying, "This is the way it works". BUT, I agreed with about 95% of the stuff he said. He just seems really grounded, as you would hope anyone his age would be. He really comes off as someone who wants to make the lives of those around him better. He really enjoys pushing himself into new things. The other reason people might not enjoy this is that he doesn't really talk about Kiss that much. Maybe 30% of the book talks about his relationships with other members, the reunion tour etc... but there aren't any crazy road stories, no debauchery. He gained a lot of respect from me when he talked about Kiss refusing to do cigarette ads, even when they weren't doing well financially. And he talked about a response to someone saying a band was just a cover band if they didn't have most of their original members. He said (not exact words), "In the end the people at the concert are going to be having a blast, while you're sitting at home complaining, so who cares."

This is Paul Stanley's attempt at a self help book, and a sort of addendum to his engaging 2014 Autobiography Face The Music. I have a sense that one of the reasons the book exists is so that he can put into writing the profound change he has experienced in his relationship with his father William Eisen ( b. 1920 ) in the last 6 years since Face The Music was published. ~ Mr. Eisen turned age 100 on April 7th, during the pandemic ~ I liked the book. Not quite as much as the first but it was an enjoyable summer read. Paul's positive outlook on life really shines through the pages of his book and it leaves a person with an uplifting feeling. I can highly recommend this book, not just because I've been a KISS fan for over 30 years but because it is a truly uplifting story. You'll like it ~ especially if you enjoyed his autobiography Face The Music.

I start off by saying that the majority of reviews of Backstage Pass seem hugely unfair. It looks like most people went into reading this book thinking it was like an autobiography part 2.Paul Stanley is a far deeper person than I would've imagined, as somebody who is not a Kiss fan and hardly knows anything about the band, I was pleasantly surprised to see a vulnerability in the man who helped pave the way for a culture that doesn't stereotypically accomodate this. I think it was a bold move for someone like Stanley to write a book like this, and I commend him for it. I believe that he is paving the way for more rockstars to write books in this manner, and I welcome it. Backstage Pass was a cool read.

Excellent read by someone who has reached a point in their life where they can say they have it all and share how we can have it all too and keep going forward regardless of the past and whatever obstacles we encounter. Thank for your insights Paul and being a fan since 1976 I've really enjoyed reading your last two books and learning more about you.

Spoiler: this is not a biography about Kiss rather a memoir about Paul Stanley and how to make your life better. I felt this was easy to read and it's very philosophical. A decent book but I wish it was about KISS but it's a quick read.
