Bounce Audiobook Summary

YouTube star Jojo Siwa to star in the upcoming movie adaptation! Bounce is a heartwarming story about a teenage girl who wishes she could trade her family for a new one on Christmas Eve. Her wish is granted and she finds herself ‘bouncing’ into the lives of other girls and living Christmas Day on repeat–learning the value of family, finding your voice, and the power of love.” (Variety)

A celebration of the power of love and connection, Megan Shull’s extraordinary novel captures one girl’s journey to find her voice, heal her heart, and discover the joy of bouncing back.

Seventh grader Frannie Hudson wonders what it would be like to trade in her family for a new one. Her big brother ignores her. Her mean older sister can’t stand her. And her parents have just announced they’re going on a last-minute vacationwithout her.

When Frannie makes one desperate, crazy wish–BOOM!–she magically bounces into a whole new life, with a totally different family. And. It. Is. Amazing! There’s only one catch: waking up as someone else keeps happening.

Plunged into lives and adventures she’s only imagined–from being a pop star to meeting one super-cute boy–Frannie finds courage in the unforgettable friends and families she meets along the way. But as her new life spins out of control, Frannie begins to worry if she’ll ever get back home.

With Bounce, the author of The Swap, which is now a Disney Channel Original Movie, delivers another hilarious, heartwarming, and empowering story about a girl who relives the same day over and over again–each time as someone new. Megan Shull’s novel is perfect for fans of Wendy Mass, Holly Goldberg Sloan, and Meg Cabot.

What a sneaky little read. Didn't expect it to be quite heartbreaking. Living with a family who cares for her so little, Frannie willed herself to be somewhere else , to be in someone else's life until for some magical reason she finds her consciousness bouncing from one person's life to another. It's very sad that she has to learn and experience love, acceptance, care and confidence through other people and not from her family. She had to live the lives of other people in order to know she's deserving of love and care. That's really sad and yet it could be true. And that's what I appreciate about this middle grade novel because it's bold and honest and not afraid to address the truth about uncaring and awful families. Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers inspiring Frannie of self-love.

Three cheers for Megan Shull's new book, Bounce!!! This book feels like a combination of Wendy Mass's 11 Birthdays and Megan Shull's The Swap, and it is the perfect blend for readers who love these books. I teach middle school and my students LOVE The Swap. That is why they are counting down the days till Bounce is released. Having just finished reading Bounce, I know they will LOVE it too! Megan Shull's distinct writing style and voice shines through in Bounce, and readers will immediately feel like they are back with the voice and style they loved so much in The Swap. Bounce has new characters but the same heartfelt messages and themes from The Swap. While reading Bounce, I laughed, I cried, and I rejoiced. Without giving anything away about the plot, I'll say that one of my favorite parts of Bounce was meeting such a diverse group of characters. I know that my students will have many discussions about all the characters and how they affected the main character, Frannie. I am so thankful that Megan Shull writes books that have strong messages, good feels, and diverse characters. As a teacher, I'm always looking for books that will connect with readers. Megan Shull's books do that. They're simply magic! If you don't already have The Swap in your library, it's a must-have. It will fly off the shelf. In September, get copies of Bounce, too, because they will also be flying off your shelves. I've already pre-ordered copies of Bounce-- I can't wait for them to be delivered in Sept. My students will be eagerly waiting for that box, and they'll love reading Bounce!

** spoiler alert ** Written by Eleri age 13This book was pure amazement. It was kind of like a cookie, you take a bite and then you just can't stop eating it. I have never been so addicted to a book than I was to Bounce. I devoured about 100 pages each day. Bounce was a mix of creativity, wonder, comedy, and the love of family. Frannie is a spunky, positive, and fun twelve year old in seventh grade. She feels like her family doesn't appreciate her, and when her parents announce a Christmas trip to Hawaii, she is so disappointed and angry. She has to stay home with her brother that barely speaks, and her sister that seemed to hate her. The first night home alone, Christmas Eve, Frannie flops down onto her bed in frustration and discovers a different world. She wakes up in the body of a girl named Dakota with an amazing family and a puppy and a Christmas tree with gifts stuffed under it. She has horses and lives in a beautiful, cozy log cabin. Frannie has to overcome the fear of riding a horse, and ends up loving the experience. Next, that night, she finds herself in the body of her sister Carmen's favorite singer whose name is Jasmine. She has to overcome the glory and fame and stage fright, and learn how to sing on stage and do an interview. But they come just as easily as riding a hose. She has a good friend too that is always there for her and is very kind. Next she finds herself in the body of a girl named Blue who is on a ship with her family and she meets a cute boy. After all of those bounces, she finally finds herself in uncomftorable conditions. First, she is in the body of a girl named Gracie who has to overcome the death of her sister on Christmas Day! She feels very sad and close to her family even though she has never met that sister. Next she is in the body of a girl she saw getting bullied on the bus, named Josie. This part of the book had the most meaning to me and went into my heart. Josie and her mother, Jess, were looking for jobs and living at a cheap, run down motel called Flamingo motel. Josie had lots of scrapes and scabs and dirty hair. They had to get food from the garbage. When looking for a job opportunity they found FRANNIES HOUSE! Frannie was so happy to see her brother and sister again. Apparently the other Frannie was in her room at the moment. Josie was offered food and a shower and clothes, and she took them all. Carmen was being so generous and I was so amazed by how someone so mean could become so thoughtful and kind. After this last bounce, Frannie was back in her own body, with souvenirs from her bounce journey. She had discovered what family meant, even if hers wasn't the best ever. But she had to admit, her family had changed too. Even Carmen said she was acting more spunky. She was more close to her family. She even became best friends with Josie, and after Frannies brother offered them money, they could move into a community center/apartment that was much nicer. This story was so beautiful. This was probably one of my favorite books ever. I first came across this book online and fell in love with the sample. Then I cried because I couldn't even finish it at the bookstore. When I finally bought it I wanted to cry again but with happiness. This book drew me in more than almost any book. I'm sorry to people reading this if the plot doesent seem to make any sense, but it will if you read it. ;) This book was so amazing. It sucked me in! I would reccomend this to everyone everywhere and especially tweens and teens. This book changed my life and is one of those books that will stay with me forever. Not many books can do that, but this did. Thank you so much for writing Bounce, it changed my life!

Megan Shull does it again! My family all read The Swap and loved it, and once we found out Ms. Shull was coming out with another book, we couldn't wait to pick it up! Believe it or not I had to order two copies to prevent the young ones (girl and boy) from fighting over it.and well...Bounce didn't disappoint! I just finished it (I had wait for my daughter to finish - that didn't take long!) and it's an instant classic for us. It's all we've been able to talk about this past week...I'd give it 6 stars if I could!

I loved this book! I read it after The Swap, and it was really good! In this book Frannie bounces to different bodies and lives Christmas 5 times after wishing she could be someone else. This book was really well written and all of the different parts made me laugh, cry, smile, and feel kind of melancholy. I recommend this book to anyone because it's really well written and very hard to put down!
