Charlie and the New Baby Audiobook Summary

Ree Drummond, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pioneer Woman Cooks series of books, and her lovable hound Charlie share the joys and frustrations of welcoming a new little one in Charlie and the New Baby.

There’s nothing that makes Charlie’s soul rejoice more than naps and bacon. But when his daily routine of eating and sleeping is interrupted by a new baby calf, Abigail, Charlie is not happy.

Things go from bad to worse when Charlie sees everyone rubbing Abigail’s belly instead of his; feeding her instead of him; and tucking Abigail in at the end of the day–in Charlie’s bed! Will Charlie be able to adjust to the new addition?

A sweet and funny follow-up to the New York Times bestselling picture book Charlie the Ranch Dog from Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman.

I really love Charlie. He is such a humorous and curious character. In this book, Charlie wasn't the baby of the house anymore. A baby calf arrived at the house and started receiving a lot of the attention. The calf was fed, bathed, and even slept in Charlie's bed. However, Charlie wasn't too upset, he actually reacted better than I thought. He just let it all happen and accepted the fact and eventually went to sleep on the floor. Throughout the night, the calf herself became very curious and began to check Charlie out. Charlie was in such a shock and began barking at her. Luckily the next day, the baby calf went off to her new home with all the other cows. It's interesting to see how animals react when a new baby arrives at the house and not all the attention is on them anymore. However, it was really cute to see how relieved Charlie was when he saw that he was the baby again in the family. Once again, the illustrations in this book were very colorful and showed a lot of life to the book. What I thought was really neat, was that on the back of the book, it shows the author and her ranch dog Charlie. I think it's awesome that she based this off of a true story of her own dog.

My daughters love the Charlie books and my husband even requested that I find more at the library. He enjoys reading the stories to them which is a good thing because if there is a Charlie book in our library bag it is the first thing requested when either of us sit down to read to them.

I loved this book. How talented is Ree Drummond?! I love her on the Food Network and now even her children's books are ready to be devoured! The illustrations are beautiful in this book of the animals, family and their farm. It makes me want to live on a farm. It reminds you of warm summer days when the air is warm and the days are long. The message in this book is good for young readers who have a growing family and to remind them there is enough love to go around for everyone and they won't be forgotten.

I loved the book about Charlie and how he loved all of the attention he gets from his family. He was really sad when it seemed that the baby calf had taken all of the attention away from Charlie! This was a great book and I enjoyed reading this a lot. Younger kids with new siblings would relate well to this book.

** spoiler alert ** The dog was jealous of the baby calf, but it was all okay when they both got to play with the family at the end of this book. I liked the pictures. This would be good to read to a child who is nervous about getting a new baby in the family.

The ranch dog Charlie loved his life around the farm, he was always getting belly rubs, big lunches, tucked in his own bed at night. One day when he woke up from a nap he saw Mama carrying a baby calf. He gets a little jealous at first but then he realizes that the calf is brand new and might just need some tender loving care just like he gets from the family. Until he sees them putting the calf in his very own bed. Where was Charlie supposed to sleep? Will him and the brand new baby calf become friends?I loved this book. Even though it was written by someone who is a celebrity, I still think it was so cute. It shows kids that they should learn to accept new changes in their life and that babies need some special treatment. I liked how it shows sharing and helping as well. I would read this book to 2nd grade and below. The illustrations were also very good in this book. I actually read this to my mom's special ed class one day and they loved it! It went right along with their visit to a pumpkin patch where they got to see all kinds of farm animals.

I grew up on a farm and is was difficult finding books which related to my own life in rural country. Charlie and the New Baby is great story of country life. Charlie lives on a ranch and is ever so watchful on everything happening, until a belly rub interrupts his thoughts and his peaceful life is turned upside down. A new arrival causes a commotion and Charlie decides to investigate. Charlie's curiosity and great attitude of adapting to a sudden change in the day-to-day routine of ranch life make this book a must read. Even for city folk.

I absolutely LOVE the Charlie the Ranch Dog series! This is a super cute book written and illustrated by Ree Drummond. Charlie loves being the King of the Ranch. One day, a new calf is born and needs extra attention. The calf, who is named Abigail, is brought in the house, given a bottle, and also given Charlie's bed and blanket. Charlie is not happy at first about it but the next morning, Abigail returns outside and all is right in Charlie's world again.
