I’ve done several 21-day cleanses with Alejandro Junger’s Clean program over the past decade. Each time I’ve followed the program, I’ve felt the best I have in my adult life. So, when I learned that Dr. Junger had a 7-day version of the program, I was game to give it a try. I purchased the set during one of CLEAN’s semi-annual sales (these products are quality and thereby not cheap!) and then I bought this book to dive into what makes this routine unique from the full 21-day version. Turns out it’s the powerful combination of functional medicine, ayurvedic medicine, and intermittent fasting.I will report back after I finish my Clean 7 routine in June, but already I’m encouraged to experience the results and to test my body with a first-time fast. In reading this text, I especially loved learning about ayurvedic medicine and discovering my dosha (aka, my body’s constitution). (I’m pitta—predominant fire-water dosha FWIW.)My 30s have taught me conventional medicine is important, but so, too, is functional medicine. I have discovered first-hand (thanks to Clean) how to help my body heal (from inflammation especially) and that experience over the past 10 years has radically changed how I approach my diet while also empowering me to “read” my body (see the five Rs in this book) as the No. 1 way to feel my best. If it sounds like I’m trying to sell some MLM product, I’m not. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Junger (who is a cardiologist—not a quack!). Once you experience how good you feel after following his CLEAN program, you’ll want to repeat the process at various points in your life, starting with whenever you need a good “reset” to return to the optimal health you maybe experienced for the first time after completing this very program. It’s worth the commitment, the cost, and the dedication for the results, I promise!

I truly enjoyed this book! For me this was not about weight loss it was about functioning better! The recipes were easy to make and tasty and the program never left me feeling hungry even during fasting. Comparing how I felt day 1-2 to day 5-7 was a huge difference. I definitely felt as if My whole body functioned better. This is something I will add to my annual maintenance!

Excellent book!! If you’re looking for a good detox program Clean 7 is the one you want to try. It doesn’t just focus on weight loss and detox. It’s a program that’s truly focusing on your mind, body and spirit. Highly recommend.

This book sounds sales-ie and is pretty repetitive in some parts. There are a fair number of contractions, especially where the foods to eat and foods to avoid are concerned. That said, you can't really argue with results.

I really enjoyed this book and his philosophy on detox. I appreciate a good detox now and again and this is done in a way that isn’t total deprivation so it eases people into it. I however was already an IF following 16:8 so that part wasn’t hard for me but I could see how others would possibly really struggle if it’s their first time. I love how he incorporated Ayurveda elements and learned a ton about my Dosha and what foods work well for me. That was a big help in reducing GI issues. Overall it was an easy read and well done.

It has insightful information on clean eating and opens a path for those who want to change their life and themselves through what they consume or put in their bodies. I am even willing to try it one day as it can boost immune health greatly, detox the body, renew energy and help live a healthier alternative lifestyle. For me, I enjoyed its insightful information on how what we eat plays a major roll in who we are and how we live. It was eye-opening that so much of what we consume can affect such small things such as mental illnesses, energy levels and our overall feelings or moods. I really enjoyed this book although it is probably not for everyone as you do have to give up a lot of favorite foods, but the ending results can be interesting to try and probably life-changing.☆ The copy I attained was through a giveaway and all opinions are my own. ☆☆ Recommend : ☑ yes ◻ no
