Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside Audiobook Summary

Everyone in town knows that Christmas in Twilight has a way of bringing lovers together . . . but will its magic bring this pair from “I won’t” to “I do”?

Wearing a too-tight “Santa Baby” costume held in by a double pair of Spanx, Paige MacGregor runs headlong into a gorgeous, grey-eyed hunk of a long, tall cowboy. And not just any cowboy, but country-western star Cash Colton, visiting Twilight to perform in a charity concert. Most women would melt at his feet, but Paige knows all too much about self-assured men with cocky attitudes, so she tells him to get lost.

Cash is in town, nursing his own broken heart, but Paige has knocked him off his feet. He’s convinced she’s perfect–someone to inspire his music and share his now-empty bed. True, he’s not marriage material, but he’s determined to convince her that they’re perfect together–at least for a while. But what he doesn’t count on is falling in love with the one woman who isn’t about to give him the time of day!

Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside is book eight in the Twilight, Texas series by Lori Wilde. First, I want to say that this is my very first book by Lori Wilde. So yes, you can totally read this as a stand alone. There are characters that I am sure have been the focus of previous books in the series but it didn’t detract at all from my enjoyment of this book. And, enjoy it I did. This is a beautifully written, sweet, lovely book. I highlighted so many quotes that I can’t decide which ones to give you. I sighed, swooned, laughed and ached for these two characters. Cash Colton is a country music star that has hit a road block. One year ago, his relationship ended with his girl friend, his band broke up, and his favorite guitar was stolen. And, he stopped hearing the music. A year out of the country to try to find himself doesn’t seem to have helped. He’s come back to Twilight, Texas as a favor to his best friend, Emma, to play in a charity event. It’s December 2. When he arrived at the play house to see Emma’s play, he is greeted at the door by a woman in a sexy Santa Baby outfit, and one look into her eyes, and the music came back. Paige MacGregor certainly isn’t where she thought she would be at this stage of her life. She lost her father eighteen months ago and now has her Grammie in a nursing home. An ex-boyfriend who unbeknownst to her was a con man, has taken everything she has to her name, so now she’s trying to put the pieces back together working three jobs and just trying to hang on while living on a houseboat. When Cash walks into the play house, she felt the world tilt. The connection was like nothing she had ever experienced. But, Paige knows all about suave men who know how to smooth talk a woman. There is no way she is falling for that again. Cash may be used to women falling at his feet but she won’t be one of them. But Cash doesn’t discourage easily. Paige is his muse. Whole songs are exploding into his head every time he sees her. He would somehow convince her to give him a chance. The problem was that Cash never has really committed to a woman and Paige is most definitely not a short term type of woman. But, when their lips finally did touch, everything Cash thought he knew about love changed “When he’d kissed her the world had shifted. It was as if he’d been wearing a blindfold all his life and someone had yanked it off to reveal a lush, beautiful garden full of wondrous things.”“When he kissed her it felt as if she was returning home after years of wandering aimlessly through the world, not even knowing she was searching. And now finding it all the same.” Try as she might, Paige falls and falls hard. But can she ever really fit into Cash’s world? Can she just enjoy the time he is here and let him go when his time is finished? The music Cash is writing is his best work ever. But it’s completely different than what he’s known for. He’s sure that this is the direction he is supposed to take but what will everyone else think? “When I see your face the world fills with music.” I loved every page of this book. These two were perfect for each other but they had so much to work through before they could truly move forward together. Despite everything she had been through, Paige loved everything about Christmas and her sunny attitude filled the pages. And Cash, well, he pretty much had me from the first page. If I have one complaint, it’s that I wanted a little more in the epilogue. I wanted to know what happened with Cash’s music and if Paige got her credit issues ironed out. I guess that means the author did her job because she left me wanting more. Perhaps there will be more in future books in this series? This was a perfect addition to my holiday reading and I highly recommend it. “I choose you. All the time. Every time. No exception.”

Simply Love Book Reviews

Lori Wilde returns to Twilight, Texas in another Christmas romance for two very deserving individuals ready for love. Cash Colton has come to town to perform a charity concert after being away from music. He’s hoping that this will be a start of something to get his career back in gear after a year of lying low and hoping to get his creative juices flowing again. When he sees a cute Santa Helper his creativity goes into overdrive and he believes he’s found his inspiration! Unfortunately for him, Paige MacGregor is not on the market and isn’t going down that road again with a handsome sweet talker. Can he convince her to take a chance on him?Paige is in Twilight needing a fresh start after her whole life was upended by a con artist. She’s starting from scratch living on her uncle’s houseboat and working 3 jobs in order to make ends meet. What she finds out her new neighbor is Cash himself she tries unsuccessfully to stay away from him but he’s just too darn irresistible for her. She’s in need of some excitement and gives into his advances and I can see them balancing each other out. She’s stability and has roots and enjoys the simple things whereas he’s larger than life and has a country star music career. They may not look like they would go together at first but there is definitely more underneath their facades. They both have been hurt by their pasts and it took a little bit of trust to let the other person in and reveal their stories to one another. Both Cash and Paige had to do some real soul searching in order to figure out what they want and make a real commitment to going after it, especially when it comes to a loving relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and love this quaint town of Twilight and all its endearing characters. Not only that but the author brings back family and friends from previous stories and we get to catch up. This is a close-knit community and Twilight has its traditions that are a little strange but you love their good intentions. My only detraction of this story was the overabundance of flowery words and descriptions of love and his musical inspirations. I was a little distracting and could be pared down a bit. Overall a very good story for two characters that get a real chance at finding love for the first time and a great start on a joint redo in life.

The Front Cover and the inside preview image of Paige and Cole .... a perfect wintery Christmastime gateway to the unfolding wonderful story !I totally enjoyed my latest visit to Twilight, Texas !... meeting and getting to know Paige H. MacGregor ... as well as Emma Cheek's friend Cash H. Colton. Music .....>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Updated: 08 Nov 2017The Power of Love of Music, Christmas & Traditions are melded in this wonderful story of 2 people meeting in Twighlight, TexasTotally enjoyed this 5star visit to Twighlight Texas ... "Cowboy, it's cold outside "... each Chapter intro interestingly set the stage with technical music jargon ... Although there was no award shows as such in the book .... I actually could hear the music ... At one point I was reminded of Sam Hunt's performance at a recent award show ... during his performance he sat beside his new wife, singing his hit song "Body Like A Back Road" ... she got a bit embarrassed too as Sam crooned to her ... It was a treasure ..... Just like this new book of Lori Wilde's ... worthy of an award. I loved it ... definitely a great book for my Christmas Book Basket for under my tree this Christmas ! Full of great emotion, fun times, teary situations in relationships, and health and whole lot of everything happy, family times ... and the power of love of music and dance, Christimas and traditions. I loved meeting Paige H. MacGregor and Cash H. Colton in this creative love story with a very different special sparkle for me from her other books ... This book must not be missed for this Christmas season and in the future to return to. I think Hallmark should snap this romantic love story up & perhaps for the big screen too.

Romantically Inclined Reviews

December 10, 2017

This review was copied from my romance novel review blog: www.romanticallyinclinedreviews.blogs...I haven’t really felt much in the Christmas-y spirit lately, so I thought that Lori Wilde’s Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside in red and gold with the wreath on the cover might be just what I needed. In a little disappointing turn of events I totally forgot, until this moment, that I’d thought the book was going to be holiday themed. Other than taking place during the Christmas season, there wasn’t much to remind me that I’d originally sought out the novel to be immersed in snow, Santa, and singing Christmas Carols. Not that this wasn’t a delightful novel… it just wasn’t the winter wonderland I’d expected it to be.If you can believe it, in my twelve years as a romance reader I’ve never read a Lori Wilde novel. I have the hardest time finding new authors to enjoy (I’m picky and super judgmental), but being an Avon Addict has really created a wonderful opportunity to discover some fantastic new books/series/authors, etc. I’m blessed, truly!I have found that I really enjoy Lori Wilde’s writing style and characters. I have no doubt that this book was a member of a family (there seemed to be an understanding that I would know who certain characters were), but I liked those characters that I was able to meet. I felt that her writing style came across very natural and not at all flowery and romantic like some of the novels I’ve read lately.Paige was a down-to-earth, charming woman who was average without being boring. She was so incredibly relatable that a few times I found myself wishing that she was a friend of mine. There was nothing outright spectacular about Paige, but by the end of the novel I was absolutely convinced that she deserved the sun, the moon, and stars—and most importantly a break in life.Cash was your typical attractive, too cock for his own good superstar with a troubled childhood and difficulty expressing his emotions. He should have come across as an overdone trope, but honestly I enjoyed reading about his troubles, his faults, and his dreams for his future. I wanted to know more about him and, eventually, I wanted to see him happy with Paige (though it took some time for me to trust him).I think that anyone looking for a light read this holiday season would be pleased with their choice should they pick up Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside. The drama was to a minimum and the sarcastic, witty remarks were at a maximum.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~This is the eighth book in the series, but I have to admit it is the first that I have read - something I plan on remedying soon. I am sure that I must have missed some of the nuance in other relationships and dynamics in Twilight, but there were little pointers which made everything clear enough. I loved being in Twilight, and enjoyed both Cash and Paige. She was a wonderfully positive person, even though she was dealing with the terrible con that had been perpetrated on her. Cash was somewhat more cynical, after a nasty breakup - but then Paige changes everything ... brilliant storyline Throw in Christmas, some steamy passionate encounters and a huge misunderstanding, and this book really delivers on all the levels to delight a romance reader. I loved the musical theme, and other than the two leads, I have to say that Grammie was my favourite character. Hence I know I am going to have to go back and discover all that Twilight has to offer in previous books.

There is one word to describe Cowboy, it's Cold Outside. It's the word Cash Colton never used. Precious, precious, precious! Lori Wilde created two awe inspiring characters with Cash Colton and Paige MacGregor in this captivating book that I simply couldn't put down. I read it in 2 days and wish there were a real Twilight, Texas for me to visit! Paige and Cash's story is one of perfected chemistry that you can actually feel in your bones. If you are new to Lori's books, start here with Cowboy, it's Cold Outside, and then go back and get the rest of the Twilight, Texas series!

Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside is just the holiday romance I was hoping to read this season!Cash is the kind of cowboy I can get behind (haha, behind pun intended!), with his tight faded jeans and cowboy boots.“The guy was a uterus magnet who turned normal, rational women into blithering idiots.”He’s trying to be anonymous, ditching his trademark beard and hat, but that doesn’t really work, even in the small town of Twilight. His life is a literal county song; one he couldn’t have written any better. As a musician, he’s used to the fans and paparazzi following him everywhere. But after the breakup of his band, he’s really looking to avoid all of the notoriety. For me, Cash’s character feels fleshed out and real. I kept picturing Garth Brooks as Cash. I have no idea why, other than that he’s really the only county singer that I could think of! I especially appreciate how Cash’s character evolves throughout the novel. By the end, he stands up for his convictions, making difficult decisions that have real impact on his life.Paige, on the other hand, is not really a character I would want to be friends with. She is a major people-pleaser, seriously lacking in self confidence, working three jobs to get by, trying to clean up the mess that is her life.“Don’t let her tough act fool you. She’s all soft and squishy on the inside.”While reading the novel, I wanted to shake some sense into Paige due to her lack of self confidence. She doesn’t necessarily let people walk all over her, standing up for herself when it’s necessary. But most of the time, she has a real difficult time saying no and does’t really fight for what she wants. By the end, she has found her confidence and redeems herself. For most of the novel, I found Cash’s story line much more interesting than Paige’s.Reader beware: Cash and Paige are a love at first sight couple. From their initial meeting, the sparks are flying between these two. The romantic scenes are more behind closed doors, but it was during these scenes that the characters really get to know each other personally. To me, this emotional connection is much more intimate than reading sex scenes. Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside follows the typical romance patterns. But that’s why I read romance, for the happily ever after. The witty banter between the characters is quite enjoyable. Ms. Wilde does an excellent job with the dialog in the novel. Often times, it is quite hilarious! I especially reveled in the non-cursing curse words. Cash uses McDang instead of something more offensive. I’ve always believed that there are a lot of words in the dictionary and curse words are not necessary.I appreciated the musical terms and definitions that headed each chapter. This really serves to tie Cash’s love of music into the story. Additionally, the chapter headers give the reader a sense of what will happen in the book without giving away the story. For example,"Finale: Movement or passage that concludes the musical composition."is the last chapter header.I enjoyed Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside a lot. With all of the characters in the novel, I didn’t even realize this was the 8th book in the series. I can easily see myself reading the other books in this series. And I look forward to doing so.

Having read Cowboy, It's Cold Outside; I have found out that Lori Wilde's books just keep getting better and better! This book does not disappoint the reader; in fact, it inspires the reader! This story is about Paige MacGregor and Cash Colton. Cash is a famous country western star who has taken a break from singing and performing for the last year. He is trying to sort his life out and has agreed to help out a friend. While helping out this friend; he meets Paige MacGregor! She intrigues him because she is not impressed with who he is. She inspires his music and he is drawn to her but she is not an easy woman to be drawn into a romantic relationship. She has been hurt before and her heart is still wary of finding another chance to love again. Cash believes that he is not marriage material due to his past family and romantic experiences. Over coming many obstacles and lessons in life and love; they find that true love has a way of bringing this couple together. Set in Twilight, Texas; Christmas time has a magical way of blending this romantic experience for this couple and the reader. The reader feels like they are actually escaping into the magical world of Lori's books! The reader will love this book and after reading this book; will be anxious to read Lori's future books!

Reviewed for Romancing the Readers Blog: https://romancingthereaders.blogspot....Even as I write this review I keep playing the song Baby, It's cold outside! Really puts me in the holiday spirit. Of course when I read this it was 88 degrees out so...Unfortunately I missed this one last year and forgot to read it. But with the next book in the series, The Christmas Key coming out on October 23rd I figured I better get going. And what a stroke was it that I that it was a wonderful title and we have a challenge about a title?I worked out perfectly! Lori Wilde is a favorite of mine so I was happy to sit down and get into Cowboy, it's Cold Outside. Believe me when I said not only was the song playing in my head as I read the book I kept call the book by the song title. Crazy! Perfect cleaver title! I really enjoyed both Paige and Cash. I felt for him. He didn't have the greatest roll model in a parent but lets be honest even the worse parent is a parent that we love. Just happens that way. Might now like them, but love is different. As his mom might not be terrible but she wouldn't have won a prize either. Poor, poor Paige. Talk about bad luck, she had plenty. She really has bad taste in men, Cash not included. What kind of romance would this be if he sucked. She's a giver and has given everything she has with no a lot of return. Throughout the story I felt bad for her. Her past has made it that she was having trouble seeing or believing in a future. They do say Christmas is the time for miracles. If anyone needs one it's Paige. I do believe you'll enjoy this fun, romantic story with a ton of holiday cheer. I know I did. The good part is that the weather is slightly more normal for us so when I read The Christmas Key it will probably be in the mid 60's. Closer to winter weather. Cowboy, It's Cold Outside is cute, heartwarming story set around the Christmas holiday. This story is filled with love, laughs, a few insecurities and cute dog that adds to the laughs. Paige is trying to rebuild her life after being the victim of a conman that took everything from her. She is determined to never fall for a pretty face again. Cash is a popular country-western singer who has also had a rotten string of events happen. His girlfriend left him for his bestfriend, his band broke up and his favorite guitar has been taken. He doesn't believe in love and commitment but when he sees Paige, he finds inspiration for his song writing and a whole lot more. Of course, fate and matchmaking friends have a different plan for them. I was lucky enough to win this book from the publisher in a Goodreads contest but the review is my own thoughts and feelings.
