Dead Ringer Audiobook Summary
Philadelphia lawyer Bennie Rosato has her eye focused firmly on the bottom line, especially since she has three dedicated young associates and a very pregnant secretary on her payroll, and she takes a professional risk, charging into a class action lawsuit that could make — or break — her career. Never mind that she’s never handled anything like this before. Having won nearly every civil and criminal case she’s ever tried, the brilliant and unconventional Bennie has the guts, and she’ll do what it takes to succeed. Even if that means wearing pantyhose and putting herself on a curse diet.
Then her wallet goes missing. And Bennie’s life goes crazy.
It’s not just that one of her associates has dyed her hair pink. Or that another’s old-world Italian mother gives Bennie the evil eye. But someone posing as the outspoken, blue-eyed, blond attorney is wreaking havoc around town, apparently determined to destroy everything Bennie loves. Only one person can pull off this double deception — Bennie’s identical twin sister, Alice Connelly. But as far as Bennie knows, Alice left Philly long ago and never looked back.
When events escalate into murder, the maverick lawyer realizes that the stakes are far greater than she feared. But Bennie Rosato refuses to be anyone’s victim. To find the killer, she’ll plunge head-first into a life-and-death investigation that will bring her face-to-face with evil darker yet more familiar than anything before.
A riveting legal thriller set against the backdrop of a richly emotional family story, Dead Ringer is this author’s most intriguing novel yet. According to USA Today, “Scottoline’s writing style is sharp, intelligent, funny, and hip. She gives fans of legal thrillers a good, twisty plot, lively characters, and an all-around fun read.” With this book, Scottoline delivers a tour de force that is not to be missed.

A very entertaining story of Bennie, a very smart and savy lawyer who has all kinds of misadventures with her twin sister, while she tries to keep her law practice afloat. A tragic murder happens and Bennie charges ahead to find the perpetrator. This was well written and it carried the reader through all kinds of happenings. You keep trying to figure out where the bad sister is and why she is plotting against Bennie. A great book for those who like legal drama and suspense.

Good story, but some annoying dialog referring to the other younger lawyers as the kids. The ending didn't grab me either, but I was kept guessing about who the bad guy was.

I wasn't sure how I felt about this book at first. I wondered that the characters and plot were too run-of-the-mill, but Scottoline really delivered. Sure, there were twists and turns, as there should be in this type of mystery, but they were interesting, and fun, shored up with good character development. I loved the wit and the surprises.

Yo! Wow wow,!! I'm trying to find the words to describe my enjoyment of this book. Lisa has certainly grew as an author as I remember reading another book of her a couple of years ago and I found it lacking, but this one... Brilliant!Bennie owns a law firm and she only has female associates, she runs in the mornings, she has sexy legs, she's a bad liar, great sense of humor, very opinionated and very smart and is about to go bankrupt 😕Just as she finds a client, who are rich and kind and who has a case to win, he gets murdered.Bennie makes history in court by arguing that her client is the biggest claimant. This wins her clients and she slowly gets back onto her feet. At least she gets to keep her house and firm. She falls in lust with a handsome Seal, he becomes her bodyguard when her twin sister tries to kill her!Bennie is arrested for theft and fiercely denies it, but how does she argue when she sees herself on the video footage!?I love the biting humor and the fast snappy dialogue and the way the plot twist unexpectedly, it's brilliant!!

Guess reading a series out of order doesn’t matter much when each can be a stand alone. Just the same characters. And love Bennie Rosato and her bunch of hard working misfits (her kids). One character not mentioning as I hope they show up later to finish what is started (hopefully). Being a sister of 8 brothers & sisters I knew nothing about until I was 45 gives me a lot of insight into not only the authors own finding of her half sister but also the feelings shared between Bennie and Alice. Not the jealous part but the emotional part of getting to understand and know each other. It’s very difficult as there are no ties that bind so one has to grow those. And especially since only the older couple knew anything about me while I knew nothing about them. This is a great read though. Had the murderer figured out a little early on but since one is never sure until one knows for sure, still made for interesting reading. Keep writing Lisa and I shall continue to read.

Benny is in deep trouble. Her law firm has just won a bit case and the client refuses to pay her, claiming bankruptcy. She will need to declare bankruptcy as well unless she gets a loan from her friend Sam, or mortgages her house. She has her daytime go missing and items are arriving in two's. Someon

In this book, we are going along with Benny. Although, she is the main focus of this story, we get to spend more time with all four ladies. This part of the series, as exciting without going over the top. It is definitely realistic and believable. We come face to face with Alice, again. It will not in the way you expect it to. Once again, we are taken along, masterfully, with two different storylines. If you have not read the other books in the series, I implore you to start with and book one. You will be missing out on a lot, if you start with any other book. Although, you can read any book without reading the previous book, it is much better when you have read the previous book.

So good ... I love how Bennie's sister Alice showed back up and the way that entire storyline evolved. Interested to see how that continues with the rest of the series.I love the addition of Bennies's "bodyguard" into the character list and I hope he stays around. This was entertaining and the "detective meets lawyer" story wasn't too over the top for me other than the fact that the actual detectives in this story just give these women in this law firm way too much "privileged" information. But I enjoy these cheesy "chick lit" lawyer/detective stories and I'm loving this series. If you don't enjoy that kind of cheesy read then don't read these. Simple enough.

Bennie is about to lose her law office and her home. She had a client who won his civil case, but has no money to pay Bennie. Then, Bennie is hired by a firm that makes lenses for medical equipment. Seems medical supply companies have been encouraged to refuse to buy from foreign suppliers--class action law suit. Then the owner of the firm is killed. What's Bennie to do?In addition to the financial grief, Bennie's twin sister is back in town, and is doing her best to shut Bennie down.Bennie and her law associates do no deserve this.A very good story.

I was not familiar with this author, but as I continued reading the book, I was intrigued by the sequence of events. If I was in Bennie's shoes, I don't know how I could handle everything that was happening to her. It was one thing after the other that was damaging her career and private life, but somehow Bennie hung in there and eventually got through it. Lisa Scottoline has written quite a few books, so I will look into reading more of her books.

I can forgive, for various reasons, all the valid problems cited in https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... by Terri Lynn. The reason I'm knocking off a full star myself is that our author allowed Bennie to panic and rant in a proceeding despite her lawyer's advice. It was only for two or three pages, but on top of preceding over-emotional reactions, it almost kept me from finishing the novel, and thus nearly led to me dropping the series. But on to the sequels after all!

I hate to say this because I don't want to spoil this book for anyone else, but...I personally just don't like Alice Connelly. There it's out in the open now. Bennie's twin sister is a pain in the neck as well as a psychopath. I'm all for families sticking together, but really? This is nuts - Bennie is way smarter than to fall for Alice's tricks again.Personally, I don't see anything worth redeeming in Alice.Okay, I'm finished with the rant now.
