Generation One audiobook

Loved this book. I have been collecting this series since I an number 4. Progressively every book has gotten better as the series went along, after the awesomeness that was book 7, United as One, I though the series could not possibly gen any better. However in it's own was this book is every bit as book.The book starts out to people reaction to the Invasion and the grades themselves. Now with more an more people developing Legacies/powers, public opinion is even more split. Even family members are torn by their individual views. There is a small cameo by John Smith (Number 4), but this is no longer his story. on a personally level I was actually cracking up on one of the comments made about John Girl 1"John is so amazing"Girl 2 "I don't see it he always looks like he is about to cry"Girl 1 "He is soulful!!!"This had be laughing as I agree with girl 2 I lost count of how many times in the first few books I was screaming at John to grow a pair and stop whining. Of course he grew a huge pair, as well as becoming a great leader and saving the world.The world has changed, there is no going back. There are a host of new characters, some side characters of the other books return as main characters in this book, and some main characters from the other books return as side characters here. There is great character development in this book, the characters are not rushed to change, but their experiences do change them some small some huge. I love one of the quotes "The Loric did not make us heroes, they gave us legacies and told us to have at it. We are the change"Like Pittacus Lore the name of the Earth Grades have been removed from this review, if you can find the characters add them in the comments. This is a great book a new beginning, home grown heroes and villains a great multicultural book, which I cannot wait for the next installment of.

I'm back in this world and i'm extremely happy with this book, it was a great first book in the continuation for this series i've come to love. Plot: this book picks up a year after the events of the final book in the Lorien Legacies series and after the war that John and the rest of the Garde fought on earth. Now we meet a whole new bunch of characters and they are humans who have become developing powers since John released something that manifested into some of the human population. The united nations has set up an academy for these people who now have powers to help train them and help them control their powers better. This academy is supposed to be a safe heaven for teenagers so they can have a place to be accepted but things are starting to not go to plan as they were intended. I said at the end of the final book in the Lorien Legacies that i wanted a story that centred around the humans who have gained powers and my wish was granted and i got this series and i'm so thankful that this book was written. This book picks up from the events of United as One were we see the academy built and running, the place sounds so amazing and the picture i got in my head of the place was exactly how i imagined it being at the end of United as One. We learn so much more of the powers and how they are effecting the humans who have gained them and i also loved how everyone had a different reaction to the invasion and the powers because not the two same people had the same thoughts on it. The plot was action packed and full of story continuation and with the diverse set of characters we have in this book that makes it one of the best stories possible. Characters: Taylor Cook: Taylor is one of the main six characters of this book, I can see her becoming a leader figure in the next book and i know she will rise to that challenge. Taylor is 15 and from south Dakota and she lives with the father on the family farm. She finds out she has powers on accident but she only uses them around her home because she doesn't want to be taken to the academy and be away from her father. I liked Taylor and as i did every other of the main six of this story, she is the shy and introverted one of the bunch and her growth in this story was amazing because you start to see her grow into her powers and the new life she's been given. Taylor for me will become a leader and a crucial part of this story moving forward and i can't wait to see her grow more as a character. Powers: Telekinesis and Recupero *healing* Kopano Okeke: The second character of the main six characters of this story, i feel sorry for this bloke because all he wanted to do was how to learn how to use his powers but everyone around him used him for their own personal gain. Kopano has one of the biggest hearts and i hated the fact he was blind sighted by everyone because he developed powers and i hope when the time comes i hope he doesn't change when things start to get a bit hard. I however need to see more from this character because i feel like he was limited in this book and I haven't really seen what he can do just yet and i know we get a little sample of what he's capable off i would love to see what he can really do. Powers: Telekinesis and Density Alteration Caleb Crane: The third character of the main six characters of this story, Caleb was a hard one for me to get a read on while i was reading the book because of the many different layers to his personality so it was really hard for me to pin point anything from him. Caleb is so complex and a character who doesn't really let you in to what he is like and i loved that because it adds to the mystery of his character and i can't wait to learn more about him in book two. This character really fascinates me because there is something more to him then it's lead on in this book and i hope i can figure it out in book two or i might have to re-read this book if i missed something. Powers: Telekinesis and Duplication Nigel Barnaby: The fourth character of the main six characters of this story, Nigel is the sarcastic and sassy british lad that made me laugh every time he was on the page. Nigel was the loudest character that jumped off the page and i was in my face like he needed to be the centre of attention and i loved reading his parts because he was sarcastic towards everyone. I had already met this character in United as One when he grabs the attention of the others after a video is put on Youtube of him fighting some of the Mogadorians. I still don't know a lot about this character and the only thing that i did learn that this character might be gay, even though he doesn't come out with it himself it's alluded by two of the other characters that he might be. I don't have a problem it just adds more layers to this character but i would love to know more about Nigel. Powers: Telekinesis and Sound manipulation Ran Takeda: the fifth character of the main six characters of this story, Ran i love her she is bad ass even if she doesn't like violence or any of that stuff. She is very smart in the way she handles herself around others and using the not knowing english around the people in the academy was genius to me because she doesn't know these people so she puts that wall up. As the story progresses she lets that wall down and lets her new friends in and i love how she starts to open up to everyone. We first saw Ran in United as One were she is fighting along side Nigel and a few others which grabs the attention of the main group after Nigel post the video to YouTube. Ran is a great fighter and knows how to hold her own and i can't wait to see her in action in the second book. Powers: Telekinesis and Kinetic Detonation Isabela Silva: the sixth and final character of the main six characters of this story, lets all bow down to Isabela she is fierce and bad ass from the moment we meet her in the book and she takes crap from no one. From the moment she comes onto the page she is the presence that is huge and there is so many different layers we uncover in this book but there is also so much more we can learn from Isabela and i love how she's only slowly starting to let her new friends in and only give them things she wants them to know on her own terms which is something i wish i'd could do. Powers: Telekinesis and Shape Shifting Einar: The last character i needed to touch on is the main villain and of course story isn't complete without it's main villain. This guy gives me the creeps because we know so little about him and i need to know what his plan is and theres not much more i could say about him because there is little on this character in this book. this is what he always wanted. to make a difference. to take action John makes a small cameo in this book when he comes to help Taylor when the group of crazy people try to kidnap her. I want him to have more of a bigger appearance in the second book because he worked so hard to save everyone and i would hate to see what he built go to waste. Nine plays a huge part in this book as he did in the main series, something i would never see his Nine become a teacher at the academy and i did have a little laugh when they called him professor nine. I would love to see the main cast of characters from the main series make an appearance, Marina, Sam, Ella, Five, Six because the story isn't complete without them. Generation was a solid start to the series and things have started and theres a new threat looming for the new six human-garde characters and i think all hands on deck will be needed so they can defeat whats coming.

Oh I love these freaky alien kids so much! I cannot wait for more books in this series. I was a late to reading the Lorien Legacies but once I started them this year I read all of them within weeks. They were so addictive! There is something about these little alien children and the new generation of the children who got powers that just leaves me so fascinated with a need for more! I was so into it that I stayed up reading the book before going to bed for my trip that I left the book by accident on my nightstand :( and had to wait a week to go back to reading it. Overall, I am obsessed and need more! Simply that.

Generation One takes place shortly after the war against the Mogadorians ends during of United as One, where a special academy is built in order to train the humans who gained Legacies during the war. A few of the characters were involved in battles during the war, as well as some new ones who are introduced for this series. I found this book to be a very quick read, and it was enjoyable to read. The author does a good job at showing how the world has been affected by the Mogadorian invasion, as well as showing how not everyone agrees with the best way to deal with the aftereffects of the war. I really liked all the characters as well, even though it took awhile for me to like some of them (mainly Nigel and Isabela), but by the end, I was rooting for all of them.One of my biggest issues with this book, however, was that there were multiple perspectives throughout the book, and I felt it was too much. The original series did have multiple point of views, but I can't remember there being more than 3 (maybe 4 in one book) in any particular book. This one switched perspectives between 7 characters. That, along with incredibly short chapters (which I did like), made the writing seem almost a little choppy because it switched back and forth so quickly. My other issue was how I think it took too long for anything to really happen. The first half of the book was still introducing characters and introducing them to the academy. I felt that this just dragged out the book and made it longer without really adding much value to the story being told. It wasn't necessarily hard to get through, just a little boring. I definitely enjoyed this book overall, and I am looking forward to the rest of the series, but there was something missing that I can't figure out how to explain that the first series had and this one didn't. Also, this is purely wishful thinking on my part, but I was hoping that more of the surviving characters from the first series would make more (meaningful) appearances, but that didn't really happen. Didn't take away from my enjoyment, just something I wanted. Hopefully we see more of them later in the series!For anyone who was a fan of the original series, I definitely recommend this book. I think there is a lot of potential for the rest of the series to grow and expand, and this book did leave off on a bit of a cliffhanger. If you haven't read the original series, I recommend reading that first, as there are things in this book that might not make as much sense if you haven't read those books first.

I received a copy via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning, it hooked me and I became surprisingly invested in the characters. It's just something about powers and adventure that really pull me in.I never finished the original series (I think I read two of the books), but this book made me want to go back and read them--even though a newcomer could very well read this one (you just have to look up the Lorien and their history with their nemesis.) This was a fun, fast, and action-filled read. Great for summer!Happy reading!

Flipping marvellous. I love all things Lorien, but the Earth Garde are kind of cool, and such a new spin on one of my favourite series. And now to wait for the rest - here we go again!

When I heard that there was going to be a spin off series to the Lorien Legacies series I freaked the eff out! I LOVED that series and John Smith is one of my favorite heroes. So knowing that more adventures were coming I was chomping at the bit to get my hands on it. For real… This was basically me: Now… full honesty mode for a minute: This wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever read but it was far from the worst thing I’ve read. I think my biggest problem was that the plot itself wasn’t much to write home about and the original garde weren’t really in this one at all. But Generation One does two things incredibly well: character development and world building. So for those reasons I was able to forgive a multitude of sins. As always the character development in this series is phenomenal. All the characters have such distinct voices and their own personalities that we get to delve into. There’s not really a single character in here that I didn’t get a sense of. That’s right… ALL OF THE CHRACTERS ARE DEVELOPED! This is an incredibly rare feat in literature. I didn’t feel like any of the characters were just plot devices or that they’re personalities were only ever skimmed. Each character is unique and incredibly diverse and we hear from all of their perspectives at least a little bit. I loved getting to know them all. Generation One is the story of the new garde and I just felt disappointed that the original garde weren’t really around. I will admit that I’m missing all of my original garde friends something fierce and I almost wished this was still their story. But this may just be a case of bittersweet nostalgia and I need to learn to move on. I’ve got to get to know a brand new batch of garde and learn to love them too. The world is a much different place after the Mogodorian invasion. Generation One sets the ground work for how the world is figuring out how to deal with the new normal. There’s a sense that the world is still settling after the war and no one government really knows exactly the best way to continue. One thing that seems to be true for everyone is a sense of unease about the new garde. All of a sudden all these kids have super powers and there’s real aliens living on Earth. When the human race feels threatened by a new species they will try to control and monitor them in order to get a sense of control back in their lives. If they can’t control what they fear, the only other option left is to destroy them. For the “destruction” option, a new religious zealot group (The Harvesters) has risen and they’ve made it their mission to destroy the “abominations.” The “controlling the garde” option is what is happening with the UN initiative “Earth Garde” and with the new shadowy enemy organization, “The Foundation.” Both parties seem determined to bend those with legacies to their will. Earth Garde is being made out to be the good guys and it’s the organization that the Lorien seem to be allied with. But are they really the good guys? The Foundation is basically a demented version of Earth Garde and even though I feel like they still have the same objective of bending those with legacies to their will, I definitely get the sense that The Foundation is the bad guys. I think I might be getting a little long winded here but to put what I’m trying to say simply: There aren’t really any good guys or bad guys yet. Everything is fully in the grey zone at the moment. The enemies aren’t coming from another planet any more. The enemy is coming from within. The world building and the characters are amazing… as I’ve already explained. The only issue is the plot. It takes so long for anything to really happen in Generation One and when it finally did, it was over very quickly. I think this was meant to be an elaborate set up for the next books in the series. It’s setting the stage for the story to come. I would have liked for this one to have more of its own particular story rather than just set up. That’s the main issue I had with the book. However, everything else was so amazing that I can’t say this was “bad” at all. What it did accomplish was making me even more excited to get more stories from this universe and now I have to wait. WAITING IS THE WORST!!!!!P.S. We are introduced to a new character named Einar from The Foundation. He is so freaking amoral and such an interesting villain. Is it just me or is anyone else getting some Five vibes from him? He seems to be forced to be with the bad guys and is doing their will because it’s the best option for him much like Five in the Lorien series. The difference is that Einar seems to enjoy the cruelty. I’m super interested in his character.

This definitely got better as it went. But it really didn't get going till 200 pages in or so. I'm also liking the characters more, which I'm glad. Because I was only enjoying one or two of the PoV's for the first half of the book. Where they really shine is in they're team dynamic.The harvesters ment nothing to me. I just knew they wern't a threat to worry about. Just a faceless army. (But Reverend Jimbo tho)🤣 I wish it lived up to the rest of the series so far, but I'll just have to hope it does in further books.

Not as strong as the first series was, but still a good read.

Generación Uno es el octavo libre de la saga Los Legados de Lorien. Esta trata trata sobre los últimos supervivientes de una raza alienígena (loricos) que vienen a ocultarse a la tierra de otra raza alienígena (mogadorianos). Los loricos tienen una serie de habilidades llamadas legados (telequinesia, fuerza sobre humana, sanación, telepatía…) únicamente algunos loricos, nueve en concreto, tienen legados. Este libro comienza justo después de que los protagonistas con ayuda del ejercito ganen la guerra contra los mogadorianos. Durante la guerra algunos humanos habían adquirido legados por lo que las Naciones Unidas deciden mandarles a todos a una academia para que dominen sus poderes, y aquí es donde se conocen los nuevos protagonistas. He de reconocer que este libro ha superado mis expectativas, desde el último tomo de esta saga creí que el escritor no publicaría más y que daría la historia por terminada. Pero cuando me enteré de que había un nuevo libreo pensé que ya era sobreexplotar la historia. A pesar de eso creo que es un libreo muy interesante que abre una nueva historia dentro de este universo. Lo que más me ha gustado de este libro es que se refleja que los protagonistas por muchos poderes que tengan son adolescentes con problemas de su erada, y esto es algo que casi no se puede ver en los otros libros, además me ha gustado que este libro pueda dar pie a otra nueva historia como he dicho anterior mente. En mi opinión lo que le que le falta a este libro es que aparecieran más personajes sobre los anteriores libros, creo que el escritor a querido que sea una trama a parte y por ello no ha incluido a muchos personajes antiguos, pero a mi me hubiera gustado que les hubiera incluido.

** spoiler alert ** I was happy when I discovered there was a spin off-series to Lorien Legacies, but also a bit sceptical. The war against the Mogadorians was over so what would this series be about? Well, even though the war is won doesn't mean things are slow and boring. We have the Harvesters who want to kill all young people with Legacies because they see them as abominations. We also have the Foundation, an organisation who kidnap those with healing powers. This means that there is still a lot of action going on!There are mostly new characters introduced in this book, but a few old ones make their apperance. I hope there will be more of that in the books to come, even if I like the new ones too.If you haven't read the original series, Lorien Legacies, I urge you to do so before reading Generation One. You'll not understand what's going on if you only read this, and you will miss out on some great books if you haven't already read the series! 😉

While (especially the first half of) this book was very enjoyable and entertaining, it was not as good as the original series.I think they should have included much more from the original Garde. I missed them!In the beginning I thought I could connect with the new characters in the way I connected with the Garde, but in the end they fell a bit flat. I think there were just too many people being introduced at once in this book.Also the plot was kind of meh compared to the original series. It was still great to be back in the Loric world and I'll definitely read on.
