Este libro es fascinante.Tiene todo para ser una historia de terror que al menos te hace sentir un escalofrío o dos, dependiendo de tu nivel de resistencia al miedo.Los personajes son ingeniosos, la parte religiosa funciona perfecto para darle más fuerza y ese toque tétrico que te hace respirar con dificultad y voltear a tu alrededor para verificar que no estés solo.Los elementos fueron en la dosis justa para mezclar y embonar todo con cuidado y esmero.Una cada abandonada, repleta de historias horripilantes en un pueblo pequeño y frío ya es un imán para mi, a eso añadanle una dosis de monjas crueles que hicieron más de una cosa horrible, una muerte de alguien joven llevada por las garras del miedo al infierno y visiones terribles de lo que aconteció y podría ser, y tendrán esta magnifica historia de horror, que disfrutarán leer de principio a fin.

Es un poco creepy. Le doy 4 estrellas porque me intrigó suficiente para leérmelo de una sentada y salir del bloqueo lector en el que estaba.En sí, es una historia de terror que da escalofríos con la parte religiosa, realmente ese es el toque que da miedo. La historia entretiene y querés saber más, pero ese es un problema con este libro, REALMENTE querés y necesitás saber más, y no lo obtenés. Hay algunas partes abiertas, inconclusas. Pudo haber sido un libro más extenso si se hubiesen desarrollado más algunas escenas y algunos personajes.Pero a manera general, me gustó y es una lectura bastante ligera. Recomiendo si una lectura ligera y de suspenso es lo que estás buscando.

Es una lectura no tanto de terror en sí, si no más bien suspenso psicológico creo, es una lectura que acabas en un ratito, ya que es muy corta y rápida de leer, se sintió como una historia de Stephen King. Una chica con su papá se mudan a una casa/hotel abandonada, tras la muerte de su mamá y al momento de entrar Jen supo que había algo malo en la casa, y mas cuando escucho susurros de su mamá, y sus vecinos le cuentan las hosterías que hay detrás de la casa...

Excelente libro de terror y suspenso. Buena trama, me encanta la referencia de varios libros de terror clásicos... Hubo varios vacíos argumentales que me confundían durante la historia, pero fuera de eso es genial. Me asusté varias veces, pero nada que no te dejará dormir. ¡Lo disfruté mucho!

Me gustó mucho este libro, pensé que iba a tener un poco más de miedo, pero la combinación de suspenso es muy buena. Ya me voy a aventurar más a este género.

Con el mal puntaje de Goodreads no esperaba que me gustara tanto... y de pronto acá, toda asqueada por las escenas, pensando que feos fantasmitas...

Drudging through many poor reviews of this book, all pointing towards large holes in the story line, I took a leap of faith with the read of "Harmony House". Despite what I read in the many reviews, I enjoyed this book; a well done quick read I devoured in a days time. While I understand, I believe that those who have written poor reviews were looking for a absolutely pure scary story; which this book was not, although it had it's many twists that caught my attention. These twists, towards the end of this book were ones i never seen coming or had thought would come; instead of scary I would say more shocking. Admittedly, I think the synopsis of this book was far reaching and was much more than the book actually delivered, although it did deliver a great story and I didn't see any "holes" that many reviews pointed towards. Living with a holier-than-thou father, who clearly goes insane with his obsession with his religion, Jen is forced to move following her mother's tragic death. Filled with mystery, intrigue, and secrets the small town folk clearly didn't want to know Jen finds her residence at Harmony House; a house of horrors, or at least that's the haunting rumors say. Sickened each day since their move, following her mother's death which devastated Jen, she certainly found power within hardship; though the discovery wasn't easy or the acknowledgement wasn't exactly her own. Again, I enjoyed this book.

4 StarsA perfect October read!Nic Sheff's Harmony House weaves the past and present into a spine-tingling horror story that reminded me of Stephen King's Carrie.Jen and her evangelical father move into Harmony House to serve as caretakers to the property. Jen's mom is deceased and her father Anselm is determined to keep the same "demons" from taking his daughter. Jen is self-medicating to get through the pain of the loss of her mother and her father's daily prayer rituals. She has visions of HH when it was a convent and a place for unwed mothers. But the convent isn't a kind place and the Mother Superior is anything but a woman of God. The house seems to be affecting her father as well. Anselm is becoming more like the deadly Monsingor in Jen's visions. Since Jen was little she has had this fire within her. When she becomes angry or scared things happen. Light bulbs exploding. Pictures flying off walls and hitting people.

I don't know why this one doesn't have more high ratings. While it is a bit short, especially for me since I can devour a book in 24 hours sometimes, it was really good. I definitely recommend this one to anyone who likes suspense and supernatural aspect. While it wasn't as scary as other books that I have read, it sure did grab my attention until I finished it. I had put it down numerous times but every time I found myself with nothing to do, I would immediately pick it back up cause I couldn't wait until what came next. I am going to have to look into the author more to if my interest is peeked with other books of theirs.

3.5 ⭐No se que pensar porque la trama es buena, habia mucho potencial pero no me terminaron de cerrar muchisimas cosas. Hay muchas inconsistencias que despues te quedas pensando ¿y eso? No tiene sentido... pero overall no fue un libro aburrido, me entretuvo y me dieron ganas de saber que pasaba, solo que me decepcionó un poco el final. Sepan que no asusta para nada aunque la portada haga parecer que si jajaja

This was messed up. It was a mix of paranormal and psychological horror. You definitely don't have all the answers at the end but it made me feel uneasy and creeped out the whole time reading it. This was also due to the way it was written. This was a great creepy and disturbing book to read in October.

Slow at times but overall still a good readWhile I really enjoyed reading this book, there were instances where it drug along. Where the character is speaking in Latin or praying long prayers I actually skipped over. For me I didn't feel like I missed anything by doing that. I did enjoy the rest of the story. Another book provided by my local library.
