I had no idea what to expect from this book. I hadn't heard anything about it before it arrived through my letterbox, but the blurb is enticing and I was in the mood for some smiles so welcomed the chance to read this.What an utter and complete delight it is. The writing is sharp and funny and completely up to date, it's the sort of book that gives that feel-good glow every time you pick it up.Julia is Swedish, living in Vienna and teaching English as a foreign language in a business school. She's not particularly happy in her job, but continues to pick up extra shifts and teach the pupils that every other teacher tries to avoid. Whilst Julia is an incredibly funny, quirky character, she has an underlying vulnerability and sadness that this clever author incorporates so well amongst the humour.Julia's last relationship broke down badly and she's pretty socially isolated. She adores filling in surveys on the street, or popping for a hearing test .... because it's free and it gives her the chance to talk to people. Whilst she despairs at most of her students and has little in common with her colleagues, they make up a big part of her life. Under the bravado and quips, Julia is lonely.One day, Julia meets Ben. Ben is like no other man she's ever known. He has no home, he lives in a bush, he's dirty with a long matted beard, but she likes him. There's a spark between them and it's not long before they are meeting regularly, and then they become a couple.What follows is the story of Julia and Ben, and their relationship with each other, and with the rest of the world. Simpaticno, meni se dopao humor.Bazirano je na istinitoj prici, by the way.Mozda nisu dovoljno razradjeni likovi, i jedan deo knjige mi se ucinio nepotrebnim (nepotrebna komplikacija).Inace, nemojte da vas obeshrabri prva recenica ;)

Da nisam slučajno došla do informacije da je priča istinita, verovatno ne bih bila toliko oduševljena koliko jesam. Knjiga jeste čiklit, ali je priča definitivno drugačija i neobična i iskače iz šablona ovog žanra. Humor je simpatičan, radnja dinamična i čita se jako brzo. Stil je jednostavan, ali radnja navodi na razmišljanje: koliko nas bi zapravo imalo hrabrosti da uradi tako nešto. Topla preporuka!

A weird but funny and sweet mainly romantic story but with tidbits and events of almost all kinds, sad, funny, romantic, weird and horrifying. It was about a woman falling in love with a man living in a bush but also about drugs, finding oneself, english grammar and adventuring in other countries. Even the smallest event where analyzed and thought through and that made this audio book a bit different. Characters of all kind sprung out of the pages and some where maybe a bit stereotype. The main story however was sadly a bit obvious but still moving and sweet.

Labai lengvai susiskaitė, romanas, bet kookio gerumo knyga, kai juolab tai tikra autorės istorija apie tai, kaip ji įsimylėjo benamį, bei sukūrė su juo ateitį. Knyga gal ir gali pasirodyti kai kam lėkšta, tačiau labai daug galima pasisemti ir pasimokyti. Ir beabejo, perskaičiusi iškarto pradėjau googlinti apie knygos autorės vyrą, norėdama įsitikinti viskuo, ką perskaičiau 😄

Julia är svensk och bor i Wien med sin katt och undervisar i engelska. Hon är mallen för duktig flicka. Livet är ganska inrutat och trist och hon skulle gärna göra något åt det men kommer sig inte för utan tar extra undervisningspass och jobbar alltmer. Sittandes på en parkbänk kommer en dag en lång, mörk uteliggare, en kanadensare och slår sig ner bredvid henne. Något får henne att vakna till och faktiskt tycka att den här mannen är intressant. Han ropar efter henne när de skiljs åt att de en dag ska gifta sig och skaffa barn. Kommer det bli så? Kan man verkligen umgås med en uteliggare? Varför är han uteliggare? Med snabba repliker och massor av humor berättas den här boken. Den är oförutsägbar, lättsam och lämnar en varm eftersmak. Under den lättsamma ytan handlar det om att våga följa sitt hjärta. Jag älskade den och vill läsa mer av Abrahamson och hoppas att hon kommer ut med fler vuxenböcker.

Alocada.Divertida.Encantadora y con un pizca de dulzura. Así se podría definir esta comedia romántica que para nada es usual. Además, es corta y se lee muy fácil, ya que cuenta con capítulos cortos muy dinámicos.Con situaciones la mar de divertidas, la pareja protagonista se conoce en Viena (ya es la segunda novela que leo ambientada en esta ciudad, creo que es un mensaje subliminal). Más concretamente en el banco de uno de los parques de Viena. Julia es profesora de inglés. Tiene una vida acomodada, está muy acostumbrada a su rutina, es mas salir de ella le cuesta bastante (a veces notas que también le cansa) y como bien dice: no es nada aventurera. Vive con un gato, Óptimus. A medida que la conoces y te adentras en su vida, ella misma percibe que en su vida falta algo. Quizás ese algo sea Ben, un hombre con una vida algo particular.Ben por su parte es inteligente, divertido, su personalidad se acopla a la Julia como un guante. Es irónico, detallista a su modo y es súper feliz con su vida.Entre los dos crean una pareja única, con más sombras y muchas risas al principio. Aunque siempre hay algo que distancia a las personas y en este caso es el choque de mundos. O dos realidades. En una sola noche todo se va al traste, lo que conlleva que crucen el mundo por motivos distintas y movidos por la misma razón: estar juntos.Si queréis conocer más sobre el periplo de esta pareja, leed este libro. Se lee muy fácil. Lo leí en un día.

No es el libro de mi vida pero rezuma una positividad y una originalidad tal que creo que recordaré esta historia mucho tiempo. Me gusta que la gente real sea así, me gusta cómo ella decide buscar, me gusta cómo él entiende, me gusta cuando se tocan, cuando descubren, cuando se quieren; y me gusta que la novela no vaya más allá de la parte simpática de todo buscando así despertar el lado bueno de las cosas.(opinión completa)https://millibrosenmibiblioteca.blogs...

Kai pabaigoje perskaičiau autorės žodį, likau šokiruota, nes tai reali jos ir jos vyro istorija, šiek tiek pakeistais faktais, bet pati istorija yra parašyta jų įvykių pagrindu. Nežinau ar yra koks pamokymas ar moralas, gal tiesiog kad nesvarbu kurioj vietoj esi gyvenime, visada gali gauti šansą ir pakeisti radikaliai savo gyvenimą. Ir pamilti gali nesvarbu kokio kvapo ar išvaizdos žmogus. Meilė akla ❤️

Very easy-to-read romantic story when u just want to relax

Very cute, quirky quick read. Slow start, but then fun to finish!

Julia’s life is fairly boring, as are the men in her life – until she meets Ben.I really enjoyed this antedote to saccharine love stories. How To Fall In Love With A Man Who Lives In A Bush has a quirky view of romance, relationships and finding our happy ever after ending and has particular appeal as it is based on a true story. I have to admit I was slightly confused at the beginning as I stupidly misunderstood Austria for Australia but as Vienna is so well described and I recognised many of the settings from my own visit, I was soon engrossed in the narrative.Julia and Ben are unconventional and so well suited – if only Julia would realise it before it’s too late! I found their dialogues particularly engaging and whilst there are frequent expletives they never felt gratuitous. Indeed, the speech adds considerably to the humour and I laughed aloud many times. There’s a realistic feeling of impudence and mockery that was so appealing. Parts of How To Fall In Love With A Man Who Lives In A Bush are quite explicit and rude but I liked them!Having taught English I shared many of Julia’s frustrations so that I could really empathise with her character. I loved her intended plots for writing her own books and the way she realised they had been done before, cursing their authors. She felt like a vivid person whom I’d like to meet. What is conveyed so well through Julia is the way we tolerate and befriend those we often don’t really like because of social convention or personal need. I thought this element was the triumph of the book. It might be lighthearted but it has some weighty themes underpinning the humour.How To Fall In Love With A Man Who Lives In A Bush is fun, witty and engaging. A really light and easy read. I actually didn't think I would like this book as it's certainly not something I would pick for myself. However, I found the story quite charming and entertaining!The events seem so farfetched so I absolutely loved that it was based on a true story so that I could hold onto the realism of it all and revel in its wonders...I would definitely recommend even just for people to see the world from a very different perspective. It holds a really lovely and strong message ❤
