I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Secret Histories Audiobook Summary

The perfect companion to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series!

I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Secret Histories is the second collection of action-packed novellas from Pittacus Lore. Initially published separately as digital originals, these three stories are now together in one volume.

Lost Files: #4: The Search for Sam follows the rogue Mogadorian Adam on his journey of redemption as he finds the key to saving both Sam Goode and his father, Malcolm.

Lost Files: #5: The Last Days of Lorien reveals how the fight began with the once-peaceful planet being taken by surprise and attacked.

Lost Files: #6: The Forgotten Ones is the riveting continuation of Adam’s story, in which he uncovers an incredible secret that will turn the tide for the Garde.

You know the truth about the Mogadorians’ invasion of Earth and the Garde who will do anything to defeat them–yet there is still so much to learn. The stories in Secret Histories will help you get the answers you seek, but they will not help you stop the coming war. Only the Garde can save our planet.

The I Am Number Four series is perfect for fans of science fiction adventures like the Fifth Wave series by Rick Yancey and the Beautiful Minds series by Alexandra Bracken.

Well, it turns out a hero's lot is not glory or reward, but sacrifice. The Lost Files: The Search for Sam: 4/5 stars The Last Days of Lorien: 3.5/5 stars The Forgotten Ones: 4/5 stars So this is a bind up containing 3 different novellas that tie in with the main series 'I am Number Four' and this one follows Adamus Sutekh for the majority of it. It was different for me to see a character that didn't have a big role in the series right up until the last 2 books of the series so it was good to learn more about Adamus and the little things that happened during the main series. I don't really enjoy reading novellas for the most part because they don't really add much to the main story plot but i did learn some new things from this one that helped me understand more of how the mogadorians who are the main threat in the main series. Adamus is a very interesting character and i always thought he would turn out to be evil and betray the group but this one really went in more depth of how much of a strained relationship he had with his family and how different he truly is from the rest of his people. I'd say defiantly read the main series before reading this novella because it does spoil somethings from the main series so keep that in mind before picking this one up.

Some books are good because they are really well written, they contain complicated, sympathetic characters, or have themes that transcend time and culture. Then there are the books that are really good because they are kind of like crack. Against all odds, the Lorien Legacies series has kept my attention. The books are quick to read, light on teenage angst, and heavier on action. The Lost Files, being short stories, work well on such construction. I gobbled this collection up in two nights.Unlike the first collection, this one doesn't try to narrate from a female character's perspective, which really helps keep interest. The first and last "files" revive Adam's story line from the first collection. Initially, it wasn't clear if he was going to be introduced into the main series, but it seems that he will play at least a minor role. I wonder if that was originally planned by the author or if the fans really enjoyed the character. The second story is Sandor's point-of-view of the last days of Lorien. At first I thought that this chapter would be a complete waste of time, but it did illuminate a few things, such as the cultural distinction between guarde and cepan, so it was ultimately worth reading.All-in-all, nicely marketed piece of teaser to get fans in gear for the release of the 4th book.

** spoiler alert ** The Search for Sam: 4.5/5.Adam, oh Adam. Adam is easily one of my favourite characters after reading these novellas. And this one especially. Despite One being dead and all, the two of them are so good together and it makes for a very interesting reason for why Adam does everything he does, betraying his family and everything. And Malcolm and Adam, they're just so nice together. I really think the only reason I didn't give this novella 5 stars is because it was slightly slow to take off, because of Adam being so determined to stay hidden. The Last Days of Lorien: 3.5/5.The title of this one gave me high hopes, maybe that's why I felt slightly disappointed when I finished it. Sandor's POV was interesting, since he never appears in the novels and only through Nine's eyes in Nine's Legacy. And I was quite surprised to realise I didn't like him at all to begin with. I thought he was unnecessarily whiny, but he grew on me towards the end when he decided to take on the Cépan role. Also, Nine and Henri's real names! I thought the novella was kinda rushed and confusig, but it makes sense, since the events would probably feel rushed and confusing to someone thrown into it like Sandor. The Forgotten Ones: 5/5.More Adam = happy me. I loved how Adam developed between this novella and the previous one, as well as during the course of this one. His trip to save the Chimæra was really great, the hero's cause he kinda needs. And of course the ending I already knew, having read FoF, but I was still happy to read how he drives as fast as he can to Malcolm and the Garde's aid. Collective rating: 4.3/5 stars.

Thank you Pittacus for finally justifying whatever has happened to Sam. I remember feeling bummed out because, why would the author forget about telling its readers what sort of shit happened to one of the main characters? Well, now I see why. It's cause he was thinking of writing another compilation of short stories about the series. Bravo. Although I really wanted more of the The Last Days of Lorien because it was really great, the whole book was a package. But yeah, honestly, I think that there should be an entire book dedicated to the life on Lorien. It has potential! Anyway, I'm looking forward to how the author plays this all out on the future books. Tiao!

Bersambung.Yang jelas buku ini keren banget!

I've been trying to read this for quite a while, but couldn't find the second story anywhere online. Luckily, my lovely boyfriend bought it and lent it to me.Summary of the StoryThe Search for Sam is the first story and is narrated once again by Adamus, the traitorous Mogadorian. (view spoiler)[One starts disappearing more often, and she admits they both knew her being with him wasn't going to last forever. He goes back to Ashwood Estates to pretend he is sorry, just so he can access One's body. His father wants to have him killed and allows the new doctor to perform a life threatening operation on him to finally extract One's memories this time. Instead, Adamus knocks out the doctor, and while visiting One in his mind, she transfers her legacy, earthquakes, to him. He collapses the whole building and manages to escape with Sam's dad, the last Greeter alive. Over the next few months, they grow close and help Adamus develop his powers. They go to Paradise so that Malcolm can reconnect with his son at last, but of course, Sam is currently being held captive by the Mogs. The two head to the government compound in New Mexico and end up there at the same time as the rest of the Garde, who are engaging in battle at the other end of the site. They find Sam, and One holds off the Mogs while Sam and his father escape, knowing full well that he will likely die. Accepting this, he uses his legacy to set off the explosives in an attempt to kill everyone at the compound, including himself and his brother, Ivanick. (hide spoiler)]In The Last Days of Lorien, we get a glimpse of Lorien in its final days of existence, from the POV of Sandor, Nine's now deceased cepan. (view spoiler)[Sandor is a troublemaker who sneaks into clubs by manipulating technology. He is caught by one of his teachers -- but not before meeting his favourite singer, Devektra -- and expelled, forced to either work in the farmlands or attend a school where he will work with technology. He chooses to go to the school, and actually enjoys repairing the grids in the city, even though he notices that almost every one of them is broken. He accompanies a mentor cepan to visit his Garde for the first time. The Garde gives his charge an electronic wristband that matches his own. Sandor sees this as an opportunity to sneak into the city and see Devektra perform again on Lorien's special day of celebration. He borrows the cepan's bracelet as entrance to the club, and visits Devektra backstage. She tells him she has a bad feeling about tonight, but he dismisses it as nerves. During the show, the club is bombed and almost everyone is killed. Sandor receives alerts on his wristband, and is located by Brandon (a.k.a. Henri), the one who recruited him to the school. Brandon is disappointed to find Sandor and not the man the wristband belongs to, as he and his Garde were supposed to be the ninth group to board the ship that will leave Lorien. Sandor travels to the Garde's home and brings him back with him, and Brandon lets him board the ship as well as the Garde's replacement mentor (I'm sure you've figured out by now that the Garde is Nine). (hide spoiler)]In the third and final story, The Forgotten Ones, the POV shifts once again to Adamus, who wakes up among the wreckage of the New Mexico compound,(view spoiler)[ and rescues one of the survived Mogs because he might have information or something. Outside, they run into a wolf, but when Adamus demonstrates his legacy, the wolf is immediately affectionate and protective of him. Even when Dust (what Adamus has decided to name him) transforms from a wolf into a lizard, it still doesn't register with him that Dust is a chimaera. But Rex, the rescued Mog, points it out to him. At first, Rex despises Adamus and plans on turning him in to the Mogs, but after some bonding time admiring Dust and stealing money from a purse thief, they seem to get along. They plan on travelling to another secret Mog compound on an island in New York to rescue the other chimaera that are apparently being held and experimented on. They succeed, but Rex decides to stay behind because although he likes Adamus, he doesn't agree with his beliefs. So Adamus is last seen driving a getaway car full of tiny shape-shifting animals in the back seat. Awesome. (hide spoiler)]What I ThoughtThe Last Days of Lorien was really interesting, and I would love to see a whole book set on Lorien pre-destruction. I was also really glad that the other two books were narrated by Adamus, because, although he is a Mogadorian, he is one of my favourite characters. And I have a theory: (view spoiler)[What if Adamus is the reincarnation of Pittacus Lore, not any of the Garde? I mean, what if One was originally supposed to be Pittacus (I know she's a girl, but can a girl not be Pittacus?) and she gave him her powers so...or what if Adamus is the only one eventually powerful enough to beat Setrakus Ra because he himself was a Mogadorian and there is something special in that? I don't know, this made more sense in my head, but I think that no matter what, Adamus is going to play a huge role in the Garde's -- hopeful -- defeat over the Mogs, I'm sure. (hide spoiler)]All of the stories were funny and interesting, and everyone knows I love whenever the chimaeras are present in the story. I can't wait to see what (view spoiler)[Adamus does with a car full of animals, and if he successfully meets up with the other Garde. (hide spoiler)]I guess I'll find out right now, because I'm off to read The Fall of Five!

Is it weird that I thought this collection of novellas was SO MUCH BETTER than the novels themselves? I loved every second of these. We got to see more of Adam (who has quickly become my favourite character), as well as life on Lorien before it was destroyed. These stories made me incredibly emotional. (view spoiler)[ I ship One and Adam so much, and her "death" destroyed me (hide spoiler)]. I am so excited to see how the events in two of these novellas play out into the main plot. These were really great reads.

What a great read!Secret Histories (Loren Legacies: The Lost Files #4-6) is basically divided into three parts. The first and the third novella continues with Adam's story and follows his adventures and misadventures after escaping from his father and his fellow Mogadorians. The second novella is centered around Sandor, Nine's Cepan, and his life in Lorien before the attack of the Mogadorians. In my review for the previous Lost Files book, I wrote "I really hope to see Adam again, maybe in the fourth book or the fifth."--and I am definitely pleased to see Adam return in the second installment of The Lost Files. I thought reading in Adam's POV was still very refreshing, with him being a "Mogadorian traitor". I loved how the first novella played out his connection/relationship with One, and also his friendship with Rex, a fellow Mogadorian soldier, in the third novella. I also really enjoyed the plot of the first novella, from his rescuing of Malcolm Goode to their search for Sam. Overall, what I loved about the two novellas was that both novellas were action-packed and fast-paced.The second novella was also an enjoyable read. I loved how it was told in Sandor's POV- definitely a new and interesting perspective in the series. I loved the pacing of the story and how the story had built up to the inevitable attack of Mogadorians in Lorien.Overall, what I really loved about the book was the two main characters in the 3 novellas; Adam and Sandor. Both characters were very strong and memorable. I really hope Adam actually appears in the fourth or fifth book in the actual series, and not just in The Lost Files. The entire book was a fast read, but nonetheless a very worthwhile one.PS. The book also included Chapter One of The Fall of Five. And can I just say, I NEED THE FALL OF FIVE NOW. YES PLEASE. :))

** spoiler alert ** This was a really important book for me. This collection is a wondrous one, and it's the collection that introduced Adamus Sutekh, also known as the (second) best character in the series.I read this way back in the day when it first came out and I dived straight into it, not knowing what the stories were going to be about. Once I read the first one and I realised that it was from the perspective of Mogadorian children, I thought it was very interesting. I ended up enjoying this short quite a bit. But because of how it ended, I deduced that the story was a one-shot because I assumed that Adam was dead.Accepting this as fact, I continued reading. I finished the second story. I flipped to the start of the third, and I kid you not, once I realised that the story was narrated by Adam, now knowing that he's NOT dead, I bursted into tears and I for some reason instinctively bit the book. That's how happy I was that he wasn't dead, and that I got to read more about Adam and his rebellious antics.I remember this whole scene extremely vividly and fondly, and I just felt the need to record it down somewhere. These novellas are amazing, and in cases like Adam are sometimes better than the main series. I feel sorry for the people who didn't read them as they were being published alongside the main books. I really loved this book, two of the three short stories complement the time period between "The Rise Of Nine" and "The Fall Of Five", these show us some of the mysteries that were missing during the main book (Sam's, his dad's and the Chimaeras' location) as well as continuing the story of Adam who is in my opinion one of the best characters in this series. These two short stories work so well because they show us exactly what we were missing from the main book but leave us hanging and expecting for the next one. In these two stories, I loved the character development of Adam, now he's an individual and is starting to make his own path instead of depending on One like the first time we met him.The third (second if we talk about order) short story gives us some backstory about Lorien and Sandor (who is in my opinion the best Cepan we have seen so far) which is always good, it really surprised me to know that he wasn't really trained and wasn't Nine's Cepan at the beginning but I guess all happened for a reason and I'm really glad he came to like his assignment and do it so well. Sandor's character development is one of the biggest I have seen so far, just by comparing him in this short story and in "Nine's Legacy" we can see so many big changes.I feel like these short stories are a must for anyone who is into this series because you get to see so many different things in them that you don't get in the main books, can't wait to get to continue reading this amazing series :)!

A nice companion to the I Am Number Four series. This is a compilation of three novellas, two of which are about Adam, the Mog who helps Sam's dad. It was interesting to see where these stories fit in with the series.
