This book is the story of the life in which I am the duck and my husband is the bear.

That 'odd couple' pair of friends, Bear and Duck, who first appeared in author Jory John and illustrator Benji Davies' Goodnight Already! , return in this hilarious follow-up, as Duck attempts to rouse his ursine friend from a day of solitude, and get him to go on a walk with him. Unfortunately for Duck, Bear had been looking forward to a day by himself, and doesn't react with great enthusiasm to his anatine friend's many conversational forays. When Duck is injured (entirely through his own peskiness), Bear must step in and smooth his hurt feelings and ruffled feathers, assuring his friend that he does indeed love him (already)!Like its predecessor, I Love You Already! pairs an amusing dialogue-based text - it's really just a series of exchanges between the two friends - with colorful and humorously appealing illustrations. Having seen the earlier book performed many times to great effect by a pair of storytellers, I would hazard a guess that this one too would make an excellent read-aloud selection, especially if the performers really get into their parts! The artwork adds to the hilarity here - I particularly liked the opening scene, in which Duck is reading a book about taking walks with bears, while sitting next to his "I Love Bear" mug, as Bear himself celebrates being alone! Recommended to anyone who enjoyed the first book about Bear and Duck, or to anyone searching for humorous picture-books.

I enjoyed bear and duck in this book. I thought the illustrations were hilarious and I can see how kids would love this book. I also think this book has a lot of potential for teaching points for kids, if you need/want them. Both duck and bear show their affection for each other differently which is an excellent point to highlight for children. Bear is more of the quiet type and duck is more the assertive one. I think we all know someone who falls within this range close to us. To ask children questions pertaining to this, will help them see that they can have friends that aren't exactly like them. I even wonder if duck even knows how to be quiet. Duck has a book about bear yet, I wonder if bear has a book about duck? What do you think is written inside those pages? What would it be like if duck wanted to be alone and bear was like duck?A great book and it has a lot of great opportunity with it.

Oh, how this book made me giggle! I love reading picture books and am always on the lookout for great new read alouds for the students that I teach. “I Love You Already” is such a cute story and will appeal to all ages as everybody can relate to either Bear (who just wants to spend some quiet time alone) or Duck (who just wants to talk, talk, talk, and do, do do). This playful and perfectly illustrated book can kick start a conversation on the differences between introversion and extroversion. It’s a simple friendship tale that reminds the reader of how love doesn’t mean being the same or needing to be together 24/7. Fans of Mo Willems will enjoy this book, and fans of this book definitely need to check out Mo Willems’ books (especially his Elephant & Piggie series)!

This very humorous book is about duck and bear, who are best friends. All bear wants to do is spend a quiet morning alone, but duck keeps bugging him to go for a walk. This would be a great book for a storytime.

I'm developing a deep love for Duck and Bear. Mostly Bear. (Poor Bear!)Fantastic way to talk to kids about how sometimes it's okay to want to be by yourself, and how two people can be together, not talking, and still be friends.
