Keep Me Safe Audiobook Summary

A sizzling story of a woman who risks her life and her heart to find a wealthy man’s missing sister–the first novel in a sexy new romantic suspense series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Maya Banks

When Caleb Devereaux’s younger sister is kidnapped, this scion of a powerful and wealthy family turns to an unlikely source for help: a beautiful and sensitive woman with a gift for finding answers others cannot.

While Ramie can connect to victims and locate them by feeling their pain, her ability comes with a price. Every time she uses it, it costs her a piece of herself. Helping the infuriatingly attractive and impatient Caleb successfully find his sister nearly destroys her. Even though his sexual intensity draws her like a magnet, she needs to get as far away from him as she can.

Deeply remorseful for the pain he’s caused, Caleb is determined to make things right. But just when he thinks Ramie’s vanished forever, she reappears. She’s in trouble and she needs his help. Now, Caleb will do risk everything to protect her–including his heart. . . .

Paperback Giveaway - > HERE5 Sexy Suspenseful Stars!!!Well, this little gem came out of NO WHERE. I loved Keep Me Safe. I really did. I’ve always been a fan of Maya Banks. She’s one of the first authors I picked up when I started to read new adult. I think after that, I never looked back.Keep Me Safe was nothing what I expected. It was suspenseful with a paranormal twist and the romance will make any book reader happy.Ramie is sort of a physic. She can tap into people’s minds by touching anything they own. She helps bring kidnapping victims home, but it comes with a price. Ramie feels everything the kidnaped feels. Since Ramie is good at what she does there is a particular kidnapper that has been stalking her. He doesn’t like that she helps saves his victims and he intends to hurt Ramie. He just needs to find her first.Caleb’s sister is kidnapped and he will do anything to save her. He knows Ramie’s abilities and he wants to use Ramie to find his sister. I'm not a good man, Ramie. In fact I am quit capable of killing and hurting someone without hesitation if I deem them a treat to someone I love Ramie reluctantly helps Caleb. Caleb had no idea Ramie would feel his sister’s pain, but he can’t focus on that now. He needs to save his sister. When I first started Keep Me Safe I was punched with so much and I couldn’t stop reading. All Caleb cares about is finding his sister and when you see the pain Ramie goes through in order to find her, oh it breaks your heart. I gobble this up like crazy. Ramie is concerned that Caleb found Ramie easily and Ramie is scared of her stalker. Ramie decides to go on the run for good.I love me a damsel-in-distress storyline! If you don’t’ like Heroine’s being stalked by crazy killers, then this isn’t for you, but fortunately it’s 100% for me and that is why I enjoyed it so much. Ramie goes on the run, but it seems that every where she goes the stalker is always near, a little too close for comfort and so Ramie enlists Caleb to help Ramie. It’s the least he could do with everything he put her through right?I love Caleb’s guilt. I love that he’s torn of what he did to Ramie, but he would do it all over again if it meant saving his sister. Caleb is my kind of Hero. He has this protectiveness that I crave, yet he has a Ramie complex. He wants her, but he has massive guilt. Whether she liked it or not she was now fully under his care and protection and that meant in all areas You do have someone to live for, Ramie. You have me Keep Me Safe is no normal book. It goes way out there with physic stuff and suspenseful moments, but in all honestly it felt really fresh and I felt like I was on my toes most of the time. I also love the villain! I love to hate a villain and Maya Banks delivered for me. He is pure evil.I also loved getting small glimpses of the brothers, since they will be apparent throughout the series. I can’t wait for the next book!If you love Maya Banks or want to try a Maya Banks book, but want something a little different than the norm, then this one is for you.An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review AMAZON

I really liked it - but what I don't like is anything paranormal or psychic stuff :/It was - like all recent Maya Banks book - too much redundant talk in there ..but it was pretty suspensy and interesting...I missed the Maya Banks sexiness a bit though..I will definitely read the next 2 books in the series - even though the supernatural stuff will get even worse ;)

3.5/5 StarsThis review and many others can be found on my blog - Feed Your Fiction AddictionKeep Me Safe is romantic suspense with a psychic twist! This book was different than anything I’d ever read before, so it was fresh and interesting to me. I really enjoyed the overall concept, but there were a few major points that kept me from truly loving it.What I loved:The concept. The concept of this book really struck me and made me instantly empathize with Ramie. Ramie was a psychic who helped locate kidnapping victims – but when she was psychically linked to the victim, she would actually experience whatever the victim was going through. It was not as if she was just witnessing it, but actually going through whatever they were going through. She even exhibited the physical signs of the attacks (though I think she recovered from them more quickly than an actual victim – this wasn’t entirely clear). Obviously, this was horrendously traumatic for her, and she eventually went into hiding. This whole concept was incredibly unique to me (and somewhat horrifying, but in a “can’t look away” sort of way).Ramie. Ramie wasn’t always the strongest of characters, and some people might not like that about her, but I was actually okay with it. I don’t always need my female characters to be completely strong heroines. Because of the horrific things that Ramie had been through at the hands of many different perpetrators, she had a valid reason for being fragile and broken. In fact, I think it would have been unrealistic if she wasn’t. I honestly couldn’t imagine holding up half as well as she did under the circumstances. I could also see how Caleb would feel strongly protective of Ramie once he knew the truth and how he would feel not only pain and guilt over what he had done to her, but also respect her for everything she had been through in order to help other people. The suspense. This book in its essence was a suspense novel – you knew that someone evil was trying to get his hands on Ramie and that there was a high likelihood that there would be some collateral damage before everything was said and done. Well, that was definitely true. I was never sure exactly what was going to happen and, especially during the second half, I was glued to the book in order to find out how it would all play out. Banks did a fantastic job of building the suspense and giving hints about what would happen without spelling it all out for us. I was 100% engaged! The negatives:Insta-love (or something close to it). Okay, to be fair, the actual L word isn’t brought up immediately – and by the time it is, I was actually mostly okay with it. But the two leads have a sort of instant connection that made me roll my eyes a bit. I wanted to see more build between them before they even started down the road to romance, but instead they headed in that direction pretty much instantly (at least after their very first meeting, which was anything but romantic).I’d do it all again. There was one aspect of this book that was actually really disturbing to me. This was the fact that Caleb repeatedly said that, even knowing the truth about what Ramie went through in order for him to get his sister back, he would do it all again. And Ramie accepts this. Understands it even. Um, no. I really had a hard time with this. Remember that Ramie essentially experienced Tori’s rape and torture along with her – not passively, but as if she were actually being tortured and raped along with her – she even showed the physical signs of what was happening to Tori. He didn’t realize this when he forced Ramie to have the vision of his sister, but he certainly understood it afterward. So for him to say that he would do it all again if he had to seemed absolutely horrific to me. I couldn’t help but think of this in real-world terms. Caleb is essentially saying that, in order to save his sister from being killed, he would hand over another woman to be raped and tortured along with her. And this is okay how? This, along with the insta-love really bothered me for the first half of the book, but I was able to get past it in the second half, when the action was in full swing and the characters had more of a real connection (and I put my distaste for this one issue aside).I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy romantic suspense and you don’t mind a heroine who is on the verge of breaking down (with good reason). Banks kept me interested and I’m curious to see what she’ll do with book #2 in this series. 3.5/5 stars.***Disclosure: This book was provided to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given and all opinions are my own.***

My 1st novel by this author. Really good book! As a fan of Molly O'keefe and Megan Hart, this author reminds me of them. The only difference in this book is the psychic ability of several characters. A good romance (steamy) and mystery/suspense novel.

Words can't even begin to describe how much I love Maya Banks. I have read so many of her books and fall in love with her writing every single time. While the romance wasn't as swoon-worthy as it was in her other books, the suspense in Keep Me Safe made it impossible to put down. When Caleb Devereaux's sister goes missing, he will do everything in his power to find her, which means tracking down a woman with psychic abilities that can find missing people. Ramie St. Claire can connect with people by simply touching an object they own, but every time she uses her ability, it chips away at her piece by piece. When she unwillingly helps Caleb find his sister, it almost destroys her and creates a link between her and Caleb's sister's obsessive killer. Now on the run from a man that knows her every thought and move, Ramie's only hope at protection and safety is through Caleb. Caleb feels guilty over what he put Ramie through, so he doesn't hesitate to offer her protection, especially once he starts developing feelings for the scared and helpless woman. Caleb is determined to protect those he loves the most, including Ramie, but how does he stop a killer who has eyes and ears everywhere, especially in their minds? Wow, this book seriously plays with your mind. I love how Maya Banks adds a little paranormal to this novel with the whole psychic aspect of Ramie's character. It's hard enough trying to catch a normal serial killer, but try stopping a serial killer who is stalking your mind. Oh my gosh, Ramie is scared for her life and there's no reprieve, even in her own mind, because the killer is always there, taunting her that he will always find her. The story is psychologically scary and I was terrified for Ramie because this man was so freaking crazy! Some reviews complained with how weak Ramie's character seemed, but she had gone through so much trauma that it's a wonder she can trust anyone. Caleb, though, makes it clear that he has her best interest at heart to the point where he finds himself falling for her. While the romance wasn't as developed as I would have liked it to be, I still enjoyed Caleb's fierce protective nature over Ramie. The romance is almost always the central component of Maya's novels, but I felt myself not really caring for Ramie and Caleb's relationship in this one. It seemed to come out of nowhere on Caleb's end and I wish there was more development of their feelings before he was so adamant that he loved her. I understood that he felt guilty over what he had put her through to find his sister and felt fiercely protective of her, but there should have been more build up to him falling for her instead of being instantly in love. Good thing the whole serial-killer-on-the-loose plot line was so intense and thrilling because I did not want to put this book down until they caught the maniac. And what he does to Caleb near the end? So twisted! I was so freaked out and literally could not stop reading. Overall, Keep Me Safe was an enthralling ride that lacked in the romance department but very much made up for it with its paranormal elements and psychological thrill. While it's not my favorite of Maya's, it was definitely an entertaining read that captured my attention until the very last page.

I received an e-copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. Ramie has a gift that is a curse most times. She has the ability to help find people who are lost or kidnapped just by holding something of the victims. She never knew that when Caleb Devereaux finds her, he wants her to help find his sister, Tori. When Ramie refuses, Caleb shoves his Tori's scarf into her hands and all hell breaks loose. Ramie's physic touch connects her to the victims and the kidnapper/killer too. She feels everything the victim feels. Each time she connects with a victim, she looses something of herself too. When she connects with a killer and he wants Ramie or he will keep killing, she thinks that running away and hiding will keep her safe. Caleb gets the help he needs and Ramie is off and running again. Still being chased in her mind and in person. When she needs help, she calls Caleb. That is where the paranormal physic action really starts. This is a first for me from Maya Banks and I loved this story and can't wait for the next one in the series.

Keep Me Safe is a solid read, but not at ALL what I was expecting. As a pretty violent romantic suspense novel, complete with a large group of siblings as side characters and psychic events central to the story, Keep Me Safe reminds me - strongly - of the lengthy McCloud series by Shannon McKenna. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

I had every intention of posting status updates as I read this, but I literally could not put it down. I didn't even stop to go to the bathroom and that's an amazing feat for somebody that's 8 months pregnant.*deep breath* That was fucking awesome. I'm not even sure where to begin. Other than at the beginning...We start off with a bang! Caleb Devereaux driving like a maniac through the woods to find Ramie St. Claire - he needs her to use her psychic abilities to find his kidnapped sister. And he's not taking "no" for an answer. Ramie is successful, but suffers immensely for it. This is a gripping scene that absolutely guts you. It's horrifyingly and perfectly written - I was in tears. By the end of chapter one, you're drained just as surely as Ramie.Over a year later, Ramie's in trouble. A sadistic serial killer has forged a psychic connection with Ramie and is hunting her - she's to be his prize trophy. The ultimate kill. He'll stop at nothing. Ramie is broken, she is on the verge of welcoming her own death after years of suffering from her psychic "gift" and being stalked by this madman. Maya Banks, again, wrote this perfectly. You could feel Ramie's despair dripping off the pages. She's almost ready to give up. Enter Caleb, whom she calls in a last ditch effort to save herself. He completely takes over, drags her to his home and vows to protect her.But the killer won't give up just because Ramie now has a white knight. He uses other victims to bait Ramie, to torture her psychically. It's truly disturbing the lengths this killer will go to and I think the author did a really good job of making him intensely evil and threatening without going overboard into bonkers insane territory. He was intelligent, determined, and resourceful. Not a good combo for the good guys. The meat of this story consists of Ramie realizing that she's tired of running, doesn't want to hide, and needs to go on the offensive. Be proactive. While Caleb just wants to protect her. It was interesting to watch her come out of her shell and decide to use her "gift" to beat the killer at his own game. Not that it was entirely effective, but it made for a damn good read! But the best part of this book was the twist. OH MY GOD! We get hints of it throughout the story, well... hints of the possibility of it, really. But when it happens, it was so much more and so much worse than you could have expected. Again, Maya Banks completely gutted me. First with the betrayal, then with the horror of it, and then again with the characters' reactions to it. I so badly want to spoil it, but I just can't... it's too good to spoil! So often I have a problem with the heroine because she's weak, but doesn't realize she's weak. Ramie thinks she's weak, but she's anything but. She may have hidden and run away from things, but that was the only way she could survive. Caleb's character was a teensy bit flat at times, but I think that's okay because this is truly Ramie's story. The supporting cast of Caleb's siblings were frustrating - I understood why they behaved the way they did, but I didn't like it. The security specialists, Eliza and Dane, were awesome. I have a feeling they will both end up being romantic interests for a couple of the Devereaux siblings in future books. This book is fast paced and you don't really notice that things never slow down because everything you're reading is so engaging. You just have to find out what happens next. It's a romantic suspense, but I'd say it's more of a suspense than romance. The romance is there, for sure. But the suspense grabs you much more than the romance does. I felt the romance developed quickly, but steadily. I really enjoyed it.All in all, I have zero complaints. Not a one. This is probably the best I've read from Maya Banks and I strongly recommend it.Note: It's been over 5 years since I read this and I still remember the twist so clearly that I haven't been able to reread it. Kinda bums me out because I want to enjoy it again.

This is my first time into venturing into a Maya Banks book and I must say that I was impressed. Not that I wouldn't be because I've heard nothing but great things about her and the books that she writes. In, Keep Me Safe, we follow Caleb and Ramie. Ramie is able to find anybody just by a simple touch. It comes in handy, only whatever happens to the person she's trying to find, ends up happening to her as well. This results in her taking a break and hiding away from everyone since she ultimately gets asked to help look for kidnapped people and what not. Well this is where Caleb comes in. His little sister has been kidnapped and he is just beside himself. The only one who can help is Ramie, but again, she's in hiding. Caleb ends up finding her and sort of tricks her into pinpointing the exact location of his sister. It's there that he sees what Ramie goes through when this happens.Of course, our two main characters cross paths again and that's where the suspense and thrills begin. I enjoyed Keep Me Safe. My only problem was that at times it dragged. Then something would happen and I would be engaged, but then it would go right back to being slow. One aspect I did like about the book was the paranormal side to it. I liked that the main character had psychic abilities. If you're one who doesn't normally like anything to do with paranormal, I think you should still try this out. The book is well written and the plot was original. I look forward to the next book in the trilogy. Thank you to the publishers for providing me with a review copy for an honest review.

Maya Banks has always been one of my fave authors... she puts the "S" in steamy...This book is a bit different from her usual... it still has the "Steam" but also the twist of being a thriller with a woman who can feel and experience things by touching a personal item of a victim. Caleb Devereaux is the eldest brother of three... His sister is kidnapped and he is at the end of his rope... He basically hunts down a psychic named Ramie to help him find her. He never knew at what cost her help causes her. He is forever burned with guilt with making Ramie suffer and vows to return to find her and make amends. By the time he returns.. she is GONE!Ramie is running, literally for her life... she has a crazed stalker who is killing women to get to her. After a near escape.. she runs to Caleb for help... and right into his heart!3.75

I loved it so much and I wasn't expecting to. I only bought this book because I needed a certain amount in my online bookstore cart to get a 45% discount. I loved that we had a beautiful love story but also lots of scary action. Scary as in bad things happened and a killer was hunting our heroine. We also had psychic powers and lots of interesting characters. I loved the hero, Caleb, to bits. He was so awesome and sweet and he's seriously going to make it on my fave heroes list. The heroine was sweet and brave and she was perfect for him. I have to warn you though, even if they're love story is drama free, the plotline is dark and haunting. Can't wait to read the next in the series! As a matter of fact, I'm going to order them as soon as I post this review!

Pourquoi Zach? Pourquoi me détestais-tu autant? Ils t’on abîmée, oui. Meurtrie.
