Love With a Perfect Cowboy Audiobook Summary

New York Times bestselling author Lori Wilde returns to Cupid, Texas, and asks the question: Do you ever forget your first love?

Melody Spencer had long-ago wiped the dust of Cupid, Texas, off her cute shoes . . . and done her best to forget the chiseled jaw and strong arms of cowboy Luke Spencer. Their families might be part of a long-time feud, but he was her very first love, even if it turned out they never wanted the same things.

But now Luke’s come striding back into her life, tempting her with the memories of long, lazy evenings and hot, passionate kisses. And he has an ulterior motive–as Mayor of Cupid, he knows Melody’s business savvy can help save their beloved hometown. His smooth talking might get her to Texas, but that doesn’t mean he’ll get her in his bed. Still, people do say love can be more perfect the second time around . . .

Luke and Melody both fell in love in their teens, but their families that had a feud that could rival Romeo and Juliet's family feud. Even though Luke and Melody had strong feelings for each other, they couldn't risk the wrath of their families which they felt a portion of when Luke's brother ends up killed in a accident and they are blamed. So Melody leaves Cupid, and heads to New York to pursue her dreams. So she leaves and focuses on her career. Now years have passed, and Melody has set up a life for herself, but when her boss fires her for being too honest, and her boyfriend dumps her all in one day, she thinks it can't get any worse, until Luke strolls into her life asking for her help to save Cupid. Cupid, even though a small town, she stills cares about the quaint town, and the people that live there. So feeling that she has no other option, she decides to join Luke in trying to save the town, it doesn't help matters when he starts seducing her again, and her walls around her around start to come falling down, when she begins to dream of having a future with the only cowboy that ever held her heart, but will they be able to face the fires of fury from their families when the truth comes out?Love With A Perfect Cowboy is a wonderful addition to the Cupid Texas Series by Lori Wilde. I do love romances with a twist, and this book has a big one. This story emulates Romeo and Juliet's family feud only, there is a HEA eventually. I really love the way this story was written. The Family Feud adds quite a bit intense conflict to the story. From the beginning in the story we see a connection between Luke and Melody, but Melody fears falling in love with him again, because their first time ended up in disaster. But she is determined to save her hometown at any cost.Luke is one sexy cowboy, confident, likes control, mayor of the town, and set on seducing his first love. What is more romantic right? Melody is independent and willful, and passionate. I enjoyed seeing these two come together, and how fun they can be together. Their connection is instantaneous but because of their families, they don't let themselves accept their feelings until they are ready to risky all for love. I love how emotional this story got. My only complaint is the inconsistency of the plot. It feel like at times I was fully into it, and then at other times I couldn't put it down. One of my favorite aspects of the story was the setup of the story. I do love a conflict that just pulls you instantly into the story. And let me tell you if you adore conflicts just as I do, this story is packed with conflict from beginning to end. And the ending is Magnifique and mind blowing!! A beautiful story about true love that conquers all even a feuding family, where Luke and Melody may be the key to bringing peace to the families. A story full of passion, zest, and a sweet love story to bring tears to your eyes!!

Madison Avenue advertising agencies seem to have firing policies that would be illegal in Europe. This isn't the first book where an employee is shown the door because she's more ethical than the client. Melody Spencer had not expected this news and seeks a quiet spot to recover. She wonders why nothing she does can ever be good enough. This small-town Texas girl has been in NYC for twelve years. Her fashion photographer boyfriend, of recent standing, has an overseas shoot coming up and decides to dump her - and gets the doorman to break the news. She's got nowhere to go, having recently moved in to his apartment. Luke Nielson finds her distressed. He has just arrived in the city, and they grew up on opposite sides of a feud line. Luke and Melody liked each other as youngsters but their families kept them apart. Since Melody's life couldn't get any worse, maybe eating dinner with a Nielson could even be an improvement - though she won't let her autocratic mother know. As elected mayor of Cupid, Luke wants to help the town through the difficulties caused by ongoing drought. Cupid had a tourist income but the lake has dried up; ranching and farming depended on the water, and people are finding loans hard to pay. He's come to ask Melody for a promotional campaign to help bring back visitors. After dinner he offers Melody the hospitality of his hotel room and she suggests a sponsored chili and cornbread festival. It's a start. Something else might have started too - like a magnetic attraction! The contrast in settings during this book is rich, our couple talking about burnt-brown land while traffic roars on in a city street, Melody finding Texas words coming to mind that would be derided in an office. Melody has no intention of dragging home, tail between her legs... if Luke wants to see her again he'll have to think up a way for her to return with pride. I couldn't wait. Lori Wilde's writing in this tale is excellently visual, showing us a white Corvette driving on the dusty road, prickly pears withering, lean-hipped aimless cattle. We find grit in the air and unforgiving sun, an ATV race in the Chihuahua desert. There are also distinct shades of 'Letters to Juliet' as the town capitalises on the name Cupid. This makes a hot, concealed adult romance between two members of bitterly antagonistic families all the more memorable. LOVE WITH A PERFECT COWBOY - could it happen? Find out and enjoy this skilfully layered read.

Love with a Perfect Cowboy by Lori WildeHave enjoyed the other books in this series and knew I'd love this one. What I really like about this series/book is the new words I learn. I am continually jumping up to go to my pc and load up the dictionary to find out what the words mean.I also do not want a book with 3/4 of it is back story. This book is all brand new things with just a touch of the older things that occurred.Melody a big ad campaign job in NY City has just been fired and her world known famous photographer boyfriend has dumped her. On the way leaving the complex she runs into Luke from her hometown of Cupid, TX. What the heck is he doing in NYC?They do share a meal and so much more later when he tells her of what's going on with the town and asks her for help. She confides in him what the latest in her life. Hometown life and there are many secrets. The family feud that has lasted hundreds of years is in force still. You do not cross into enemy territory but stay true to your family. She devises many projects that might help the town recover from it's financial loss due to lack of rain. Loved hearing of the different festivals they sound like SO much fun.Luke, the mayor uncovers a secret that holds all the plans together and he confronts her about it. Nothing seems to be going right but their steamy sex scenes which nobody can ever find out about. You wonder if the feud will ever end.... sad this is the last in the series, but i'm happy to learn it's not going to continue into 20 where 3/4 of each book is the back story-unlike Lori's books. Also loved the travel, parts I may never see for myself in my lifetime and being able to catch up with the others in the community.I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I've totally enjoyed this series by Lori Wilde, and I have to say that I'm very sad that this is the last one.Cupid, Texas is in terrible trouble with the drought that has been holding on. Melody Spencer left Cupid years ago for Manhattan and made a good life for herself there with no plans to ever go back to Cupid. Now she's lost her job and the mayor of Cupid, Luke Nielson, has come to Manhattan to lure her back to help save the town. Unfortunately Melody and Luke have a past together, their first kiss was on the 4th of July when they were teenagers and because of a feud reminiscent of the Hatfields and McCoys, Luke was left beaten and they were torn apart. Now she's back in Cupid to try to help save her hometown. Will Melody and Luke ever get back together? You'll have to read the book to find out, but I do want to say that this book was as great as the first books of the series!I received a copy of this book from the author in return for my honest review.

This a bittersweet story of the Cupid Texas series. This was my favorite of all the books and I loved them all. Luke and Melody are caught up in their attraction that had a 15 year history. Melody is trying to help Luke revive there hometown when a long drought has taken a serious toll on the town. Their attraction is hampered by the family fued that exist between there two familes. This is a book that when you start it you will not put it down until you've finished it. I totally recomment this series and this book, they are definite keepers. Lori Wilde has done it again.I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review.

Love With the Perfect Cowboy by Lori Wilde is a 2014 Avon publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.Lori Wilde has perfected the small town romance! Who can top a name like Cupid for a small Texas town? This series just keeps getting better! As we all know occasionally Cupid's arrows sometimes appear to have misfired. Such is the case with Luke and Melody. As teens they relished the forbidden fruit that was their romance. The Hatfields and McCoys have nothing on the Greenwood/Fants and the Nielsons. So, before it even got started Luke and Melody's romance came to a crashing halt. In the years since, Melody has moved to New York and lived the big city life with relish. The last person on earth she ever gave a single thought to was Luke. Then out of the clear blue sky he's standing in front her on the worst day of her life. Melody's just been fired and kicked out of her boyfriend's apartment. Luke is in NY to convince Melody to come back to Cupid. A terrible drought has the tourist population down to a trickle and they need a big campaign to get people interested again. With nothing else holding her in NY and with Luke's effective manner of persuasion, Melody agrees to try and help out her hometown. But, the old feud between their families once more comes between the couple. Before Luke can move on with his life he needs to make peace with Melody even it means New York is where she feels she should be. He feels like the less said about the families the better. Melody has a different idea though and personally I thought Melody was right. It was obvious that Cupid did have a good aim after all and no matter what Luke and Melody were destined to be together. But, first the families will have to somehow make peace with one another and forgiveness will be a must. This story was so good! A nice example of how years of bitterness and holding grudges will ruin more lives in the long run. While Luke and Melody each carried their fair share of grief and guilt over what happened in the past, really the blame should have been placed at the doorstep of the old family feud and the unwillingness the families had to put the past behind them. It will take something really big to make these people come to their senses though. That's sad because they really could have prevented so much heartache and tragedy if they had only opened their eyes to what was really important in life sooner. But, it's better late than never. This book has a really wonderful, grab a box of tissues, smile through the tears, happy ever after. This is the best book so far in this series!! Highly recommend! Five stars!

My favorite of the series so far...Cupid, Texas gets a Letters to Juliet twist in Love with a Perfect Cowboy, and it was very nicely done. It's the ultimate "lovers with a past" story, with a family feud tossed in for good measure. The feud began back in the prequel novella(One True Love) when John Fant left Elizabeth Nielson at the altar to marry Millie Greenwood, and it's all coming to a head ninety years later in the final book of the series with Millie's great-granddaughter Melody and Luke Nielson.Fifteen years earlier, the two had a secret relationship that culminated on a tragedy on the night of their first and only kiss. Now Cupid's suffering from the worst drought in--well, forever--and the now-mayor Luke has gone to Manhattan to try and lure Melody away from her ad agency job. It's not too hard to do, since she's just been fired for being "too honest". Ouch.Oh, and dumped by her live-in boyfriend...or so the doorman of their building informs her. Yes, the doorman.Obviously, she is not having a stellar day.Melody agrees to go back, but insists that any kind of relationship between the two of them would be crazy and can never happen.Except that they might have accidentally spent the night together (in every sense of the word) in New York. And once they're living in the same town again? Yeah, it's next to impossible to keep their hands off each other, let alone keep others from seeing how they feel about each other. But there's a real crisis going on in town, between the drought and dearth of tourists--not to mention the feud is still alive and well with most of their family members. How can this possibly end well?It does, of course (Hello! It's a romance novel ;))and really, that's my only issue with the book. The ending feels a little too pat and neat after all the deliciously-well done angst and drama of the rest of the book. On the strength of the first 95+% of the novel, though, this is a solid four-star read. I really enjoyed the characters of Melody and Luke. I especially loved their internal monologues in the early portion of the book, when they were fighting the attraction they both felt. As the book progressed, they both told some rather significant lies to each other which is usually a negative for me, but the reasons behind them were solid and Melody especially did an excellent job of coming clean. Soooo...all's well that ends well, then :)Rating: 4 stars / B+I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Lori Wilde’s Love with a Perfect Cowboy…Simply put Hot!I don’t know nor do I care whether Cupid, Texas is a real town or if it is just something that is neither here nor there; I find it to be a place that captured my heart a long time ago with its warmth and magic. A place I wouldn’t mind calling home. Families are hard to deal with let alone throw in a feud that has been going on forever. Bur for Luke and Melody this wasn’t going to stop them because they have too much sexual attraction to let a little thing like family get in there way. The pages sizzle…when this hot Texas cowboy decides what he wants. What he wants is Melody.Once again Ms. Wilde hits it out of the park with another story that captures you, reels you in making you fall in love with this quirky town and the people that call it home. This makes for a nice summertime read…so grab your glass of lemonade find your favorite spot in the sun and settle in for another story that will make you wish you lived in Cupid, Texas.Over the years I have fallen in love with people in the town wishing that they were my neighbors, friends and relatives. Each book has taken me into their lives and with each ending a little bit of their lives has come away with me making it sad to see them go…that is until the next book/story comes along. This is the last in the Cupid, Texas series and it was hard to let everyone go but…Maybe we will hear from them again someday.

Romancebookworm's ReviewsMelody Spencer is at a cross roads in her life. She is fired from her job and kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend all in the same day. Therefore, when Luke comes to New York in hopes of bringing Melody home she takes him up on the offer. Melody left Cupid Texas for New York to make something of her life and its seems because she loves someone she should not. She did not know how to cope so she left.Luke is at his wits end to save the town of Cupid. When a multiyear drought has left all the residents looking at leaving the town, Luke goes to Melody to help save the town she was raised in. Luke is also still in love with Melody but a family feud bigger than both of them has them both worried. The chemistry between Luke and Melody is blistering. They battle not only themselves but also the feud between the families’s for them to even have a chance at happiness. The sex scenes were scorching. They are a great match for each other.Love with a perfect Cowboy is the fourth book in the Cupid Texas series by Lori Wilde. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel without any problems. I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters were fascinating and appealing. Overall, this was a great book. I cant wait for the next one.

In the fourth book of the Cupid Texas series, Mayor Luke Nielson resorts to desperate measures to save his hometown. He goes to NYC to find Melody Spencer, his teenage love and the person his family hates the most. Melody is feeling pretty desperate herself having been fired from her PR job for being too "provincial" (read ethical) and coming home to find her belongings in the storage area of the apartment she shares with her boyfriend. To top off her day, in comes Luke to witness her humiliation and offer her a job back in Texas.I enjoyed the premise of this book, star crossed teenage lovers, torn apart by their families after tragedy strikes. I love a good love the second time around plot and this one is very well done. The whole letters to Cupid theme of the series has been a fun one to read and Melody uses it to further her plans for the town. Unfortunately, the repercussions cause trouble both with the townspeople and with Luke. Luke is torn between his feelings for Melody and the needs of the town, his family, and even what is best for Melody. It takes some fancy footwork but everything works out in the end. This is a great book for a weekend read out on the deck!

This is the Story of Luke and Melody and the town of Cupid Texas. Melody is having the worse day ever and Luke appears with a way to help Melody and help their hometown of Cupid, Texas. Melody and Luke know each other from the past and even though sparks fly when they are together their families don't want them together. There is a long standing feud between the two families so Luke and Melody being together just won't work. Lori has come up with a great way to end this series. This is a stand alone story but it would be even better to get the entire series and read them in order. You really get to know the characters and love them. These books have the H&H but also many people from the town of Cupid that you come to love as well as the main characters. Loved this story!

Loved this 2nd chance romance about Luke, a rancher/mayor of small town Cupid, Texas, and Melody, who had left that town in the dust for an advertising career in NYC! He comes to NY to ask her to help him save the town, which is suffering from a drought and has lost tourism. The same day he shows up is the day she is fired from her job & kicked out of her apt by her dirt bag boyfriend. There was a high school tragedy caused by bad blood between Luke & Melody's families, which put a stop to their young romance. You can see right up front that the old feelings are still there & I loved seeing how they overcame obstacles, working to resurrect their town, as well as their love.

I was pulled straight into this story with these characters. I have read a few of Lori's books. This story floored me. Melody worked at developing good ads. She bucks some clients and gets fired. Her boyfriend leaves the doorman to tell her that he is dumping her. Luke has come to find her. They were close as teens. Their families have a feud going on. 15 years later he needs her help to save their town caught in a drought. It was ingenious to see how they fix their town. I liked this story. The plot was edgy and I read it in one day. Please grab and read this book!I received this book for an honest review for Lori Wilde.
