Merry Christmas, Splat Audiobook Summary
It’s the night before Christmas, and Splat wonders if he’s been a good enough cat this year to deserve a really big present. Just to make sure, he offers some last-minute help to his mom and, in typical Splat fashion, he messes up completely! That night Splat stays awake hoping to see Santa Claus. But when Splat misses him, he’s sure his Christmas is ruined–along with his hopes for a really big present. . . .
Everyone’s favorite furry cat is back in a Christmas story perfect for any child anxiously awaiting Santa’s arrival.

Read this book for my son as a bedtime story tonight. This book follows Splat the Cat as he writes a letter to Santa asking for a big present and promised that he was a good cat. Then he has second thoughts thinking he wasn’t good enough so he set out to help his mom wash the dishes that were already cleaned, decorate the Christmas tree that was already decorated... well he gives it a bit more mess to it rather than doing a good job haha then he got tired and go to sleep. He’s too excited for Santa so he tried to stay up to watch out for Santa to explain to him that he was a good cat. The next day comes and all was quiet in the house and he worries about not getting any presents. A great read and I highly recommended it!

Splat wants a really big present for Christmas, but has he been good enough? Kids who worry that Santa will bring them coal will love this book, which (don't worry) ends happily! I love how soft Splat and his family always look in these books, and my kids howl with laughter as Splat tries to wait up for Santa and just misses him. This was our first Splat the Cat book, and we've collected most of them now.

I read this book with my g'little. This is a little story about Splat, a black cat, who is hoping that he's been good enough to get a big present for Christmas. My g'little loved this book- its prose and illustrations. Great Christmas story!

The Splat books always have excellent illustrations and address one kid issue. Many readers have complained about it not addressing the true meaning of Christmas. I find that problematic, since not everyone believes in Christ and children's books frequently are used to promote adult agendas on young minds. The book is told from a child's perspective: one that understands the value of reciprocity and not philosophical truths, expresses the anxiety of temporary childhood concerns, and the need for gratification. Children's books do not have to have deep, philosophical undertones. As for morals and ethics, perhaps parents could spend more time addressing those rather than having their child simply read a book.

This was such a hit with my little readers at our library class! I read this story to three different PK classes and they all listened in awe and were very worried that Splat truly wouldn't have the perfect Christmas. The story of Splat, who wished for a really big present this Christmas, teaches the kids several things:1. Start thinking about whether you've been good or bad at least a few days before Christmas;2. Help around the house when you're asked, not when you feel like it;3. Don't stay up late waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve - you'll miss him anyway, even if he slips right under your nose;4. (most important) Never lose hope for things to get better.Splat's Christmas will certainly make your reader's holiday that much happier.

Splat is one of my favorite modern children's characters. He is wonderfully illustrated, and kids can easily identify with his fears and insecurities and wants and desires. In this book, Splat wants a very special present but isn't entirely sure that he has been good enough to deserve such a gift. He tries desperately to be extra helpful and demonstrate his very best "good" with less than perfect success. This book is humorous and beautifully illustrated and the kids at storytime enjoyed it. I was bothered a bit by the focus on the somewhat crass materialism, but this book does have a happy ending.
