This series joins the hot vampire bandwagon, but caters to the tweens who like the allure of vampire books, but don't want the sex, gore and blood thirst of other vampire series. Take away the vampire aspect and it's still about two girls from opposite worlds who not only find each other, but find out that they not only are twins, but they complete each other. The two girls, Ivy and Olivia are likable, fully-fleshed out characters, and Mercer leaves lots of rooms for more adventures in this series.

This is a very well written book by Sienna Mereer and I loved the story so much. My favorite character was Ivy Vega. The book is about a girl (Olivia) who moves to another town and school where she meets a goth (Ivy). She finds out that they are actully twins both adopted at birth by four different parents. Later on in the book Olivia also looks past the goth outfits of her sister and finds out that Ivy is really a vampire just like the characters from the books she adores. I think this is a good, fast read for anyone! I loved their outfit description as well :)

This was a really fun book. :)A girl moves to a new town and finds out she has a twin, and not just a twin, but a vampire! What follows is secrecy and mixups and also that her sister and she just switch when they don't want to do something. It was just pure fun, and I will be sure to soon check the rest of the books.

Read this for a video- Really enjoyed this one, I can defintely see why I loved it as a child. It has very young YA thriller vibes. I think its aged very well. Would have no problems with my children reading it today.

As seen at worthlesswords.tumblr.com (My tumblr/blog)I read these book series two years ago, I stopped at the fourth and never read the rest. I also havent had the chance to make a book review about it. Like I said here I re-read these series to make a book review about it and because I kind of forgot the story a little - again, I read this two years ago!“When Olivia Abbott moves to town, she’s excited to join the cheerleading team and make new friends. Then she meets Ivy Vega. At first, Ivy, pale and dressed all in black, looks like Olivia’s opposite. Then the girls look beyond the glittery pink blush and thick black eyeliner to discover they’re identical—identical twins! Olivia and Ivy are brimming with plans to switch places and pull every twin trick in the book. But Olivia soon discovers that she and Ivy aren’t exactly the same. Ivy’s a vampire. And she’s not the only one in town.” (From Amazon.com)I found this book series while waiting for my best friend watch the UE vs UST game last two years ago. I waited for him at Gateway Mall near Araneta Center Cubao. No one likes going to malls alone so to hide my shame I pretended to look for a book to read at Fullybooked. I wasnt as interested in books two years ago than I am now but there was something about this book that just made me want to read it. I was just strolling along the Teens section then I saw an interesting looking book near the end of the Teens section, "Children's Books", that had an interesting title. I picked the book up and read the description at the back. When I put it back in the shelf - where I found it - I picked up the book beside it and realized that they had the whole set. At that time they only had the four books but that was good enough for me to instantly want to buy it. I didnt buy it though, I didnt bring enough money to buy a book, not enough for even one. I did find an alternative, as I was reblogging, queuing, posting stuff here on tumblr I came across a post - from Oh my! I seriously forgot who it was from... - that described a site where you can download ebooks or pdf files. I went to the site and typed "My Sister The Vampire" and guess what? The four series books came up and I immediately downloaded them all! And after the first book downloaded completely I immediately read it. I dont know how long I read it but I know I finished it in a couple of days. And I think I finished the four books in 2 months.I was 17 when I first read this book series, now I am 19 and I still have the same reaction to these books as I did two years ago;I absolutely adore this book series! It's really really good. I love Ivy's character the most, maybe its because I see myself through her. I'm not goth though but I definitely feel like Ivy and I are twins - not twins more like clones. And every time she (Sienna Mercer) describes Brendan Daniels, Ivy's love interest, I see Evan Peters in my head. I dont know why but I love it. Olivia reminds me of my older sister who actually tried out for cheerleading once and she loves fashion and she's girly. And the goth-lingo Sienna Mercer uses is so captivating! I sometimes unconsciously say it now. It seriously sucks! And the book titles, PURE GENIUS! Its just a really good book and even if it is for kids, I bet teens would really love it too. Everyone goes through middle school! You can totally relate. I highly recommended it for everybody, even parents!

Originally posted on Paranormal Sisters: http://paranormalsisters.blogspot.com...Honestly, this might be a short review because I don't have a lot to say about Switched. But what I do have to say is that this was indeed a fun book to read! It was absolutely easy to get lost in this world, I was breezing right through the pages (which is probably why I don't have much to say). I enjoyed reading behind both Ivy and Olivia's point of view, though I do wish we got to know them a little bit more instead of all we saw was what they presented to the outside world. I wished we got more in depth about the characters and about the fact that Ivy is a vampire. I thought the vampire aspect was going to be more in the open but instead Ivy made sure to hide it from Olivia, so we didn't get to the vampire part of the book till way way later in the book. But these little problems of mine will be fixed in the sequel and we'll be getting more of the characters and more of the vampire world so I'm thrilled to get my hands on the sequel! Also, I'm really happy that Ivy didn't get easily swept into the popular clique and followed Charlotte like some airhead. Instead she stood up for herself and her sister. I think that was a great positive scene for younger girls. Ivy's character is definitely a model for younger girls as she works hard towards her dream of making the cheerleading squad even though there's a negative force trying to bring her down. Overall, I think this would be a fun read for Middle schoolers and younger, I'm sure even people older then teenagers will enjoy this light read (I'm turning 23 in 1 1/2 weeks).

★★★★ Switched (My Sister the Vampire book 1) by Sienna MercerThis is the first book to the My Sister the Vampire series. This is a great series for Tweens. The story takes place at Franklin Grove Middle School Franklin Grove is not your normal middle school. Everything seems dark and dreary. But the kids don't seem to mind, since they are into all things dark. Ivy Vega is an 8th grader. She is your UBER Goth type. She also has the ability to give anyone the "squinty eye," and get them do what she wants. Olivia Abbott is the new girl. She can't wait for cheerleading try-outs, since she has just left her old squad, at her old school. She is 100% girlie girl. Fitting in, is going to be a challenge. So imagine Ivy's surprise, when Olivia walks in and she gets a major case of déjà vu. But how would she, the queen of Goth, know anyone, who is so obviously obsessed with pink, sparkles, and polka dots. Then, it hits her, OMG, the girl looks just like me. Well, minus the all black wardrobe, the black clunky boots, pale skin, and heavy eyeliner. Once the girls start talking, they realize they have the same birthday, birth town, adoption drop off date, and the same emerald ring. They aren’t just twins. They are identical twins, sort of. What’s the best prank for identical twins? Switching places, and that’s just what they do. But how long will they get away with it before family and friends find out.
