Alexia's Mom, Ms. Sue, is heading up the annual school carnival to raise money for playground equipment. Faithful readers will rejoice in the familiar phrases and plot formulas that they have come to expect from this series. The carnival games are beyond entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny. Buy a chance to see where a cow will drop his "pie", pay a dollar so you do NOT have to kiss a toad, swing a sledge hammer at a junk car. Zany, silly, and just what kids find hilarious. I would have changed the ending. Couldn't a school employee have been driving the limo and then the Mayor wouldn't have gotten away with stealing? If the students had earned enough money to buy the playground equipment, then the ending would have been silly and satisfying.

School fundraising is not for the faint of heart. Can Alexia’s clueless mother Sue reach the goal of $5,000, for Ella Mentry School’s new playground equipment?? You bet she can! With the assistance of teachers and other parent volunteers Ms. Sue orchestrates the craziest carnival ever. So step on up! Buy a goat free lawn. Avoid kissing a frog. Throw water balloons at a teacher. Win a dead goldfish. Place your bet on where a cow will poop. Purchase a cupcake. Duct-Tape your principal to the wall and support your school!!Other than the rather abrupt and terrible ending this was another fantastically fun read by Dan Gutman in his hysterical My Weirder School collection.

Five stars for encouraging the kids reading this book to look up this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npjOS...Also, in spite of the fact that he continuously uses the same phrases over and over from book to book, they don't get boring. These are definitely recommended to younger children that are ready for silly chapter books.
