En el domicilio donde se descubren los cuerpos se dan tres coincidencias: un fuerte olor a algo parecido a la hierbabuena, una misma cancion de Raphael reproduciendose una y otra vez en el ordenador y un orden estricto en todas las estancias. El pasado de la protagonista como integrante del grupo de Homicidios de Barcelona es razon suficiente para que le encarguen una investigacion que se presenta compleja. Compatibilizar sus obligaciones de madre con su trabajo, a pesar de las ausencias intermitentes de su marido por exigencias laborales, incluso la turbadora presencia del enigmatico Roberto Rial, responsable dela unidad de Homicidios de la central en Madrid, no son ni de lejos la principal preocupacion de Maria. Su verdadero problema tiene nombre y apellido: Amparo Garcia, su suegra. Dormir varios dias al mes con medio lecho vacio, trabajar en una comisaria repleta de tipos insensibles y tener un bebe del que ocuparse, pueden convertir la vida en un infierno. Pero tener que verselas con una suegra insoportable que incluso podria ser una asesina de ancianas, es algo definitivamente peor. Una novela negra actual y cercana que desconcierta al lector desde la primera pagina, obligandolo a modificar constantemente su opinion y empujandolo a continuar leyendo.
