Varias de sus historias se desarrollan en un apartamento ubicado en avenida blanchot, en una ambulancia dirigida a un hospital, en una carcel, en una ciudad que parece Bogota pero tiene mar, en bares con nombres extranos.
Sus personajes van desde un gato que habla y bebe whisky, un chico que fue criado en una carcel, una bailarina llamada Marciana, y una chica llamada Amarilla.
La historia es narrada en tiempo indefinido, entrelaza el presente-pasado-futuro de una exquisita manera, sus personajes son descarados (por asi decirlo) son exageradamente sinceros, estas personas, incluyendo los gatos, caminan por una ciudad que a lo mejor nosotros ya hemos recorrido o hemos querido recorrer, se drogan a deshoras, beben whisky desde las 7 a.m, y deambulan por las calles sin rumbo fijo, son personajes de todos y de nadie.
El lenguaje utilizado por Chaparro es absorbente, rapido, sin comas, sin pausa alguna para el lector, su ritmo es acelerado, al son del rock de la epoca, al sabor de un cigarrillo y todo esto hace que uno no quiera soltar la novela.”
