Teddy Walsh is the narrator of Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool audiobook that was written by James Dean

James Dean is the original creator and illustrator of Pete the Cat. He is a self-taught artist originally from Fort Payne, Alabama. His passion for drawing became apparent at a young age, and as a child, you could find James drawing his favorite characters like Snoopy and Yogi Bear.

James earned his degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and went on to work for Georgia Power for a number of years. Eventually, he was called to pursue his art full-time and began selling his work at art festivals around the Southeast.

It was during this time that he began creating paintings and drawing of his cat, Pete. The little blue cat showed up as a character in James’s artwork around 1999 and has been a permanent fixture ever since.

James Dean’s art has been sold in more than ninety galleries and shops across the United States. He has devoted his paintings to Pete the Cat for fifteen years and turned his natural love for cats into his life’s work. James published his first book, The Misadventures of Pete the Cat, a history of his artwork, in 2006, and he illustrated his first self-published children’s book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, in 2008. There are now almost 100 published Pete the Cat titles with more coming out all the time.

James is humbled every day by the success that this groovy blue cat has brought him. He says positively affecting children’s lives is his number one priority, and he is grateful to have such an amazing audience to work for.

This is a wonderful book for all kids about Valentine's Day and about friendship! It teaches children that our presence is a better gift than even a card!

My 8 year old recently borrowed this book for our local library. In this installment of Pete the Cat, Pete learns that Valentine's Day is cool. The story starts the day before Valentine's Day. Pete runs into his friend Callie. She asks him if he has finished his Valentine's card yet. Pete says he hasn't because Valentine's is not cool. Callie explains to him that Valentine's Day is the day that we tell people how special they are to use. Pete heads home, and thinks about what Callie told him. By the end of next day, Pete figures out that Valentine's Day is cool. My 8 year old really enjoyed this story. The text was easy for him to read and understand. Contains colorful illustrations throughout the book. We will be reading more of Pete the Cat.

Lovely and well written picture book about Pete the Cat and his friend Callie planning to make cards for Valentine’s Day. Pete forgets a couple of people but he catches up. I read the read aloud book. The narration is just perfect. Love it.

Pete is kind to all the people in his life by making homemade valentines (not store-bought junk). He realizes that everyone likes to be recognized for doing their part. We love Pete! 5 stars

I really need to read more Pete The Cat. I really do love Pete The Cat. The only problem I have with this Pete the Cat is Callie is the other characters name. Callie is such a hard name for beginner readers. I think readers need to read difficult names but Callie is a really hard one. It is confusing for an early reader. I tried to explain callie vs. "call" ie and it was certainly a struggle. I just think when writing for early readers that is something to pay attention to. (I know it is super picky and an unneeded criticism.)

Pete the Cat: Valentine's Day is Cool is a great book to use with younger readers. I enjoy how the book uses quotes to make up the story. I think it is a great book for parents to read aloud to their children and to talk about the true meaning behind the quotes. As a teacher, I think it is a great book to have in a classroom library or to read aloud around Valentine's Day.

Kids really love Pete the Cat books. This one was really good. Pete the Cat thinks Valentine's Day isn't cool, but Callie his friend tells him it is. He makes Valentine's for all his friends because his mom tells him there's something cool about every cat! This is a fun book about Valentine's Day!
