This time Pinkalicious is over the moon with a Cherry Blossom festival, which will add even more pink to her world, if that is possible. Pinkalicious wants to fly a kite, but doesn't know how to. Magic will give her access to a special friend and everything will work out. Sweet and simple story.Trigger warning: some readers might get offended by Pinkalicious's obvious cultural appropriation and might demand her to check her privilege.

Even though it is against the "reading rules," I always judge a book by its cover. This book was on display at my local library, and its colorful cover made me stop and pick it up. The colors are very inviting and calming. The scenery and clothing on the cover made me curious and want to open the book to explore. Why is Pinkalicious wearing a kimono? Why is there a Japanese gazebo in the background? I loved the illustrations throughout the book. I felt as though the illustrations really supported the text and between both the text and the illustrations, I found myself thinking of questions I could stop and ask my students while reading the story. While I loved all of these elements, my favorite part about the story is that it provides some cultural information regarding the Japanese language and traditions revolving around cherry blossoms, even if its just a tiny bit. It would be a great story to read with students and then be able to hold a cultural conversation.
