Puppet Master Audiobook Summary

In Dale Brown’s Puppet Master, intelligent machines take center stage as America battles the Russian mafia in Eastern Europe

Louis Massina is revolutionizing the field of robotics. His technological wonders are capable of locating disaster survivors, preventing nuclear meltdowns, and replacing missing limbs. After one of Massina’s creations makes a miraculous rescue, an FBI agent recruits him to pursue criminals running a massive financial scam–and not coincidentally, suspected of killing the agent’s brother. Massina agrees to deploy a surveillance “bot” that uses artificial intelligence to follow its target. But when he’s thrust into a dangerous conspiracy, the billionaire inventor decides to take matters into his own hands, unleashing the greatest cyber-weapons in the world and becoming the Puppet Master.

I am a real fan of Dale Brown, but this definitely ranks as one of my least favorites. I cannot say why, it just never grabbed my interest. I forced my way to the end and, though it was OK, it wasn't a typical Dale Brown thriller. Maybe I just missed the old characters and that's my fault, but I never got really involved in this whole story.

Great plot I hope this is the beginning of a series.

I have read most of Dale Brown's books. I believe he's written 30+. This book was one of my least liked. It was ok. It moved along slowly and had a very anticlimactic ending. I understand this is sthe first in a new series with co-author Jim DeFelice. The concept of the "smart robots" is very intriguing. The Puppet Master Louis Massina believes his robots can be like humans without a soul. Dale has gotten away from his "Military Thrillers" in this book. I won't pass full judgement until I read the next one. If you are a Dale Brown follower I recommend you read the book. If you are not a Dale Brown follower I recommend you start with his earliest books and go from there. He has some great books in the series that begin with "Flight of the Old Dog."

It's obvious that this book is intended to introduce new characters and plot lines in a new series. As such it worked to that end. As my expectations for this genre are not high or I feel a four is a good start. As to whether or not it can stand on it's own? A sequel will answer that question. It was entertaining and I hope the sequel will set the hook for my casual reading time.

Good story about future robotics. Overly long. Could have used some better editing.

A good story. It had me turning the pages and was hard to put down. The book is an opening for a series. I look forward to the next ones.
