Recuerdame puede parecer una novela de perdedores que tuvieron que dejarlo todo para huir, pero es ante todo un homenaje a los exiliados de todas las guerras y aquellos que han perdido su patria por la barbarie de la guerra.
Sinopsis
Marco, Isabel y Ana viven en Madrid, corre el ano 1937 y a pesar de la llegada de la primavera, la ciudad sufre continuos bombardeos y esta a punto de rendirse ante las tropas del general Franco. Los padres de los ninos se debaten entre la duda de sacar a sus hijos de la ciudad o mantener a la familia unida. Francisco, padre de los ninos se entera de que el presidente Manuel Azana esta organizando la salida de casi medio millar de ninos del pais. El Comite Iberoamericano de ayuda a los ninos del Pueblo Espanol, quiera sacar via Burdeos a los ninos, aunque le cuesta encontrar el barco adecuado.
Marcelo, uno de los enviados para organizar el proyecto, intentara conseguir un barco frances, para que los franquistas no intenten capturarlo. Al final logra convencer al capitan del Mexica.
Tras un azaroso viaje hasta Burdeos y su lucha para que los ninos logren subir al barco. La llegada a Veracruz es todo un acontecimiento. El presidente Cardenas y miles de ciudadanos van a recibir al grupo de ninos asustados y enflaquecidos por la guerra y el viaje.
El gobierno mexicano ha preparado una escuela para ellos, aunque su intencion es crear una casa hogar en Morelia, que sea un modelo educativo para todo el pais. Ni el viaje ni la estancia en el pais seran faciles, muchos peligros les acechan y el gobierno Franquista quiere llevarselos de nuevo a Espana.
Escapando de una Espana en guerra, cientos de ninos buscaran su futro en America, aunque a veces no es tan facil huir de la guerra y el pasado.
