Riot Audiobook Summary

When Dee Dawson meets sexy mohawked guitarist Joel Gibbon, she knows it won’t be long before she has him wrapped around her finger. No guy has ever been able to resist her … but Dee’s met her match in a player like Joel.

Dee’s not the relationship type–not after seeing the pain “love” has caused her friends and family–yet she’s desperate to make Joel want her more than anyone else. He quickly becomes an obsession, and when a reckless attempt to make him jealous ends in disaster, Dee turns into the damsel in distress she never wanted to be. With her carefree world crashing down around her, the last thing she needs is Joel’s pity.

But Joel is suddenly determined to prove he cares, and no matter how hard Dee tries to push him away, he refuses to let her shut him out. Now the girl who swore she’d never say those three little words must choose between guarding her heart and losing Joel forever … or falling head over heels for the tattooed rock star of her dreams.

Und wie vermutet habe ich das Buch noch heute beendet. Was soll ich sagen?

LADIES.......THERE IS SOMETHING THAT MUST BE BROUGHT TO YOUR ATTENTION......IT MAY COME AS A HEART BREAKING DISAPPOINTMENT TO YOU ALL...AND SOME MAY WANT TO GO TO WAR......I ENCOURAGE YOU TO THINK ABOUT NOT DOING THAT ...JOEL GIBBON IS MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN READ HIS STORY BUT I SEE ANY DIBS CLAIMS ON HIM WHEN I ALREADY HOLD THAT TITLE......CHICKS BE GETTING SHANKED!!!!!!! YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST............SHEM HAS DIBS ON THE ROCK GOD THAT IS JOEL GIBBON. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED....Now.....glad that has been cleared up.....back to my review. Riot is book two of the Mayhem series. After reading book one I was not sure how it could beaten....until JOEL GIBBON.....MINE!!!! This story is full of angst, oh holy hotness, rock band boys, sassy females, humour, banter and beautiful HOT AS HELL CHEMISTRY! My heart feels so full of love and excitement for this book, which should also come with a women's health warning because my ovaries exploded! We met Dee in book one of the series and I instantly loved her. She is so funny and the kind of girl I would want as my best friend. She is the girl who DOES NOT AND WILL NOT chase the guy, in this game she is the mouse!!!! She wants to be WANTED, NEEDED AND PURSUED. Dee has met her match with the rock star GOD that is Mine.....I mean Joel. He is everything she wants and NEEDS for her game. However it is one that he is not willing to play, because he is the guy who is used to getting the bit of skirt and likes the chase he gets from the girls. both characters like sex with each other, they like sex with other people.....and pretty much anyone or anything willing to put out. However, sometimes, games need to stop being played because people and those closest to you get hurt.JOEL........OH MY OVARIES. I could kiss Jamie Shaw's face off for blessing the book world with this HOT, RIPPED, OVARY EXPLODING, ROCK GOD. But what really sold me, he has HEART which made me melt!!! *sits fanning herself*This book is not fluffy with rainbows and unicorns, it is passionate and has one hell of an edge to it. It develops into this absolutely stunning story that has set up camp in my soul. At times I was screaming at my kindle, out of sheer frustration because in the end I was rooting for these two. Jamie's Shaw's writing is absolutely FLAWLESS. She writes with a classy style and it is so real and relatable, it is not slow, it is not fast it is PERFECT. She makes you feel so many emotions for the characters, that you feel like you can actually call them friends. Congratulations Jamie on this FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC book. I love you and can I just say you have gained yourself a stalker.........I mean fangirl..... for the rest of your life! So, to anyone who has eyes in their head, you need to pick up this book, read it and fall completely in love with the story of Dee and Joel! Joel.......MINE! 5+++ STAR read for me! ❤

5 perfekte Sterne für eine perfekte Story mit Protagonisten, die ich verdammt nochmal sehr sehr sehr gemocht habe. Adam aus Teil 1 fand ich ja schon toll, Joel fand ich allerdings großartig! ❤

When I read Mayhem , the first book in the series, I fell in love with Dee and immediately connected with her. I couldn’t wait to read her book! Now here we are. Riot . The story of Dee and Joel! And let me tell you, this was a lot better than Mayhem . Yes, I liked the first book, but had issues with it. This, however, did not disappoint.Dee is a girl who wants the boys to want her; she reels them in and throws them away. I seriously love how outgoing and free with her sexuality she is. I get so freaking sick of it being a point for the female characters not to have been with anyone for a certain amount of time before they get with the love interest. Like, it's been months or years and the guy is so happy by this. What the hell ever. Women have sex! Anyway, Dee likes to play because she doesn’t ever want to get deep with anyone. I know we’ve seen this type of thing before in characters, but I think her reasoning is completely understandable and handled well. Certain quotes really hit me because they were so perfectly me, so I'm a little protective of the girl.Guys have told me they’ve loved me before, but I never believed them. They’ve given me flowers and gifts and declarations I didn’t want, and all it did was make me run away even faster. I’ve made grown men cry, and all it ever did was make me lift an eyebrow and wonder why I dated them in the first place. Then there’s Joel, guitarist for The Last One to Know. These two have been hooking up for months, but Joel isn’t playing the game by Dee’s rules and it frustrates her to no end. There's no denying their chemistry, though. They are not exclusive at times and do mess around with other people, but that doesn’t bother me at all. I actually love it because it’s realistic since they aren’t in a relationship, nor are they trying to establish one in the beginning. But then something happens to Dee that changes everything. Their hooking up transforms into something so much more, and it's so damn sweet and heart-melting how it sort of flipped to a slow-build romance. They’re playfulness and teasing banter was so much fun, especially how they would try to get each other to admit things. I seriously fell in love with them! There was so much growth with both of them throughout the book that made my cold heart feel all warm and fuzzy. The band was one of my favorite aspects of the first book, so I was ecstatic that Riot seemed to incorporate all of them even more. I love how the band grows with each book, and can’t wait to see what’s in store for them next.So yes, yes, yes … I loved Riot ! A lot. I need Chaos right now!

This book scared me a little. Why?Because never in my life have I read something that so accurately depicted my own character in written form. Dee was me.Every doubt, every smile, every tear. Hell, if I wasn't so sure that I hadn't been dropped as a child or suffered with retrograde amnesia, I'd be seriously questioning the non-existent relationship Jamie and I share. (I like to think we'd be the bestest pals if she knew I existed) I guess the only difference between Dee and I is that whereas she has a rockstar boyfriend, I have a love for food and am epically single. I also want to stress that I haven't gone through even a smidge of what she went through, but I still believe we were secretly twins separated at birth. In one word, Dee was relatable. In two, realistic. And well, for me, she was one massive reality check, sealed inside a novel that seemed surprisingly like a therapy session for its entirety. Can't say I didn't learn a whole lot about myself. Now I just need to find my Joel and HEA...

Rating: 4.5 / 5 stars Riot is the second book in the Mayhem story, and it focuses on Dee & Joel this time. It can be read as a standalone. This is a book about two players who refuses to put their hearts on the line because they don't want to see themselves getting hurt... put their hearts on the line for each other. I was actually very surprised to see how much I ended up smitten, engrossed, and head-over-heels in love with this book. Especially since this is a sequel, and most sequels are either a hit or a miss. This book was a hit.I was unsure of how I was going to feel about the book, since books that feature a "player" heroine and a "player" hero tends to make me not connect with them. It's not because I disapprove of how they use other people, or because I dislike how they think with their hormones and not with their heads, but because of their reasoning behind why they play the field instead. This is where Riot almost lost me, because the reason behind Dee playing the field was your typical, NA cliche where heroine sleeps around because she refuses to put her heart on the line and fall for someone who'll "eventually break her heart."This book gave me a lot of heartache, I'll tell you that. In the beginning (and despite knowing that this is Joel & Dee's story), I was agreeing with Rowan & Leti when they were concerned over how she kept using Joel. That relationship between the two of them was not healthy, and I was glad that Rowan & Leti kept trying to call her out on it. With such an unhealthy relationship, I wasn't sure where this novel was going to go. And then the trigger warning scene happened. Okay, it's not really a trigger-warning scene since it didn't actually happen. It almost happen, to the point where I was appalled and horrified that I didn't get the heads up. Right then, that's when the book finally started getting to the good stuff. [FINALLY]. It's when we finally get to see the two players who refuses to put their hearts on the line fall for each other. And boy, do they fall for each other hard. They are so freaking sweet to each other, so caring of each other, and there's an understanding between the two of them that no one else gets. The both of them have been hurt by loved ones in their past (in both their cases, it's their moms), which is how and why they refuse to settle down. Literally. Dee refuses to settle down romantically, just as Joel refused to settle down at all (which explains a lot about why he kept crashing and sleeping in random places at friends' and bandmates' homes). Things I liked about this book: • How much Dee & Joel cared for each other • The birthday gift Dee got for Joel. [Oh man, I cried while reading that scene] • JOEL *HEART EYES* • the side characters (like Rowan, Leti, Adam, Shaun, Mike) • Dee's character development. (AWWW YISS) • What a great friend Dee was. Like, I was so touched by the expenses she'd go to for her friends.Things I didn't like about this book: • The slut shamming. I was hoping that book 2 would tone it down from book 1, but... jesus christ. • ANGST BROUGHT ONTO THE BOTH OF THEM BECAUSE OF LACK OF COMMUNICATION [THERE'S SO MUCH LACK OF COMMUNICATION B/T THE BOTH OF THEM ONCE THINGS START HEADING TOWARD A BETTER PLACE FOR THE BOTH OF THEM, THAT IT INFURIATED ME WHEN THEY LET A LACK OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM GET IN THE WAY OF THEIR HAPPINESS • Cody. I just... I'M SO UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT HIS SCENES IN THIS BOOK. • the fact that Joel looooooooves her, but he didn't have any trouble sleeping around with other groupies (not that I should fault him, since they weren't truly exclusive. But man, if you truly love someone and wanted to prove to them that you did, the last thing you want to be seen is groping a bunch of chicks)Overall, this book moved at a slower pace than Rowan's & Adam's book which was weird, considering that this book was shorter than {book: Mayhem]. I think that it was a good thing that the book moved at a slower pace, because this book was a lot more angsty and darker (because of the implied trigger warning scene), and because Dee needed some growing up and some character development before she got her happily ever after. The angst was overwhelming at times, but I didn't mind it since it was understanding--coming from the both of them. Some part was a bit too cheesy/overwhelming/straight out of a drama or romcom, but I, for the most part, knew that it was contrived just so there's more heartache for the both of them.Joel > Adam. That's all I'm going to say. Joel won me over big time, but I think that has to do with the fact that I was bawling like a baby because his childhood was so... SAD. Adam was a sweetheart in his book, but Joel--DAMN. YOU JUST WANTED TO WRAP A BLANKET AROUND HIM AND FEED HIM HOT COCOA. I can't wait to read Shaun's and Mike's books next.Would I recommend? YesWould I continue the rest of the series? HELL YESWould I reread this again? Maybe
