Loved reading about my bear friends again.Too bad there was no map in the book to follow their journey (the first book in the series did).

I liked the book because they were basically trying to survive and I love books where they have to survive. The story kind of switched like every chapter to a different character, so it was kind of confusing. The white bears stole a black bear, but the black bear got away by other bears distracting the one bear that stole the black bear. This was a great book because I like reading about bears attacking each other. It just interests me. The book is also about how one bear has to survive basicly on his own, because his mom and brother died in the last book. The Seekers series is great, so you should read them.

I enjoyed the Warriors series and also enjoy Redwall series for a similar reason. Seekers seems to have that same element. When you use animals to tell your story you can follow big truths like courage even better than if you are using humans. In Great Bear Lake there are big themes, like courage ,jealousy, abandonment, and faith. Some reviewers dislike the ecological doomsday piece.. but missing polar ice is a fact right? I will probably keep reading about these bears on their journey.

I like this book better than the first, but it has the same issue of a lot of unimportant stuff at the start, then it gets really intriguing. Still, this is something that's worth a read, if you like any of Erin Hunter's work!

The book overall was a fascinating, and interesting book. It was based off several bears who seemed to have great character development. The plot was also very interesting. The only thing I found dull about the book was at some moments it was very predictable.

Book ReviewMy book is called Great Bear Lake by Erin Hunter. The age level to my book is ages 8-13. My book is about four bears that adventure to a place called great bear lake. On there way to the lake the bears Toklo, Ujurak, Kallik, and Lusa have many challenges and they don't have a lot of help along the way. They are yet to find the lake but are still searching. I think the book was really good at separating what character is speaking. And I think that's a very important part of the book. The main idea of the book is determination. Like when all the bears were starving but all of them insisted to keep going and chug along. Toklo was very naive and was strict but really started to warm up during the end of the book. Ujurak was the leader in the sense because he led the way to the lake and was very nice and thoughtful. Kallik was a “new bear” she lived in a zoo her whole life. And Lusa was a little cub all on her own until she finally found the group near the end of the book. I think this book was a really good book for people who like spirits and animals. And this was a pretty good book all around. It wasn't too hard or to easy it's a little long for my liking but that's about it. I think the author should involve more characters in the book and add more chapters. Other ways this book was a great book and I loved it.

** spoiler alert ** The book was a adventure worth the reading, it took me time to understand what was really going on but I finally did. The end was a little sad because after Kallik found her brother, he didn't even want her around, he could have cared less. But then she made him see what he was doing was wrong and now Toklo, Lusa, Ujirak, Kallik, and Taqqiq are traveling to where the spirits dance and where the ice never melts. This book is very touching about nature. All throughout the book they kept bringing up the fact that the wilderness is changing and food is becoming scarce and hard to find food. This book makes me think that we should try to wonder what the animals have to do to survive, while we push them further out of their territory, we put houses and farms where they use to live, and what do we do to show we care? Nothing, we do absolutely nothing, and when we do, it never will last long enough for animals to feel back at home. We take their fish, their homes, their territory, and raid their lands with our roads and greed for more space. It's wrong and we should learn from our mistakes.

I thought this book was well-written. The characters were more fleshed out and you knew more about them and what they were doing and why they chose to all go to the same place. I really like that they introduced a new bear named Ujurak and how he could shape shift into anything. The only thing that I wished was in this book was a map at the very beginning showing the bears journey like there was in the first book. Overall, it was a very good book and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a very cute story or anyone who enjoys animals.

My kids and I read this book together, and while we loved the story there were times that it is incredibly drawn out. I have found that my stepdaughter loves to hear the story, but not enough to want to listen to it everyday. That makes it seem even longer. However, we enjoy the story of the bears and how each of their journeys has brought than together. It is a good read for elementary students.

** spoiler alert ** My favorite part was when Taqqiq started to be nice again and defending Miki. My least favorite part was when Taqqiq twas trying to take over the forest from the black bears with his mean friends like Salik. I was so surprised when he was found again, because I wasn't expecting it at all. I really liked the fox friend of Kallik, and I was sad when the fox had to leave. The next book will be the first of the books where all three of the main characters are travelling together.
