Sidney Sheldon’s Chasing Tomorrow Audiobook Summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sidney Sheldon’s most popular and enduring heroine–Tracy Whitney of If Tomorrow Comes–returns in a sensational sequel full of passion, suspense, and breathtaking twists.

Tracy Whitney never thought she wanted to settle down. With her suave and handsome partner, Jeff Stevens, she’d been responsible for some of the world’s most astounding heists, relishing the danger and intensity of life on the wild side. But there is still one thing missing from Tracy’s perfect life: a baby.

At first “going straight” feels like a new adventure. But as the months pass and Tracy’s longed for pregnancy doesn’t happen, she finds herself yearning for the adrenaline rush of the old days. When a mysterious and beautiful stranger enters their lives, Tracy and Jeff’s once unbreakable partnership is suddenly blown wide open. Jeff wakes one morning to find Tracy gone, vanished without a trace.

For more than a decade, a broken Jeff struggles to carry on knowing Tracy is out there somewhere. But the rest of the world believes Tracy Whitney is dead . . . until a series of murders leads a tenacious French detective to her doorstep. Eleven victims, in ten different cities, over nine years–all of the cities where Tracy pulled off some of her most brilliant capers. Someone is targeting her, manipulating a series of disturbing events and raising terrifying ghosts she thought were dead and buried.

Once again, this clever woman finds herself out on the edge, playing the odds in a desperate game of roulette. But this time, she’s got everything to lose–including the man she cannot forget.

Tomorrow has come at last. But it isn’t the future Tracy bargained for . . .

All of my favorite elements ~ conman ship, psychopath, suspense and thrill , all are here, but the brilliant sparkle of "If Tomorrow Comes" is somewhat lost. Not the same glamorous and independent Tracy whom I loved. Also, the ending is achingly sad. Still worth reading, though! :D

I’m a sucker for a good story about con-men and women. There’s just nothing like pulling off a good caper, especially when it’s the less savory people who get conned. Sidney Sheldon, one of the most popular writers for TV in the 1960’s and 70’s and who then turned to writing novels in the 1980’s, was adept at creating interesting characters and subjecting them to all sorts of thrilling conditions. By no means have I read all of his works but of those that I have, If Tomorrow Comes is one of my favorites. It’s a very nice novel about running cons and featured the character of Tracy Whitney, a girl who suffered immensely at the hands of fate and got into the con game largely for revenge. She was definitely a character worth rooting for, even as she became one of the most elite high-end thieves in the world. And now, Tracy Whitney is back. I was very happy to win a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway so I could see what happened next to these characters. Author Tilly Bagshawe has penned several “sequels” to Sheldon’s novels as she has picked up his mantle and very accurately captured Sheldon’s voice. This novel picks up with Tracy living the happily-ever-after scenario that we had all hoped for her after the first book. Tracy and her husband, (and former partner in crime), Jeff Stevens are settling down as it were but it isn’t long before people from their past intrude and force them back to their old lives. Tracy and Jeff put the “artist” in con artist, and their reputation sometimes works against them, especially when they need to work with law enforcement as happens in this novel. This is a nicely plotted novel and definitely kept me turning the pages. Once again I rooted for the main characters and hoped the plot twists wouldn’t leave them too battered and bruised. The author brings her A-game to this one and it shows. Tracy and Jeff don’t always make the best decisions and that leads them further into trouble. Sometimes it seemed like I was watching a movie-of-the-week from the 1980’s, but then again, that was Sidney Sheldon’s style. I appreciated that not all challenges were neatly wrapped up and the ending is very appropriate, even if somewhat bittersweet. I suppose there could be another novel with these characters but I think this tale is nicely complete.Make sure to read the first book, If Tomorrow Comes, before beginning this one. Many plot points tie in directly to the first book and several shocking events won’t have much of an impact if you don’t.

Tracey Whitney is someone I aspire to be!! She’s such a bad ass in every way. You don’t HAVE to read them in order, each can stand on their own. I read ‘Reckless’ first and i was sucked in and now have read every single item Tilly has written. There’s never a dull page, always something happening and her books make you THINK!! Brilliant series!

Usually, when people get to the end of a chapter, they close the book and go to sleep. I deliberately write a book so when the reader gets to the end of the chapter, he or she must turn one more page ~ Sidney Sheldon...Truly you've done it with the Tracy Whitney series. 'if tomorrow comes' was one of my favorite books of Sidney Sheldon and now this. Tilly Bagshawe, even though not as great as Sidney Sheldon has definitely written a gripping novel. I'm so happy to read about Tracy and Jeff again. I can't wait to read the next book. I've already ordered it actually😬

I loved it. I love all Sidney Sheldon's and I think Tilly Bagshawe did a pretty good job of following in his footsteps.

A good sequel to Tracy Whitney first novel "If tomorrow comes." A good mixture of suspence, list and adventure and an enjoyable read.

So just finished reading 'Chasing Tomorrow' by Tilly Bagshawe and i must say this, if you haven't read the book yet. This story is going to stay in your head for a very VERY long time. Some of the scenes that you visualise here in this book is never leaving your head like a memory of reality. The book has been written splendidly by weaving characters and scenes so well that one can just not stop oneself from flipping to the next page. Like everyone says Tilly Bagshawe has flawlessly delivered her sequel for the masterpiece of Sidney Sheldon's "If Tomorrow Comes". The characters feel so very real, even Daniel Cooper. The book left me with an unbearable craving for the next book and the release of it (if perhaps) is again a mystery.(THIS IS FOR THOSE WHO FINISHED READING THE BOOK)But that's not the only mystery Tilly leaves behind, The book promises next part in many different ways, to begin with Daniel Cooper...No Idea whether he died or not. Jailed or not?Secondly, while getting discharged from the hospital, Jeff mentions an unfinished job, it doesn't seem like he was talking about Tracy. Could it be about Daniel again? What happens to Elizabeth after the release? Is Gunther Hartog dead already? Did Jean Rizzo get back with his family? (Okay the last one wasn't as important) and most important of all, Tracy mentions an uncertain tomorrow where she and nick might cross paths with Jeff. High possibility, you see...On the whole, next book is required asap. Period.(THIS IS FOR EVERYONE)The only dissappointment for me is that the story didn't let me dwell into the depressing moments for long, it was too fast paced and I was unable to sink in the pain Jeff goes through due to the seperation, Or just the romatic chemistry between Jeff and Tracy itself did not sink in very well inside me. I personally wanted more chemistry between them and certainly didn't approve of the ending after all the things they went through. Again, only the third book could convince me. Thus one star less.GIVE IT A READ. YOU WON'T REGRET

Just finished Tracy Whitney #2 Chasing tomorrow, gosh Tilly Bagshawe could never pull that off like Sidney Sheldon flawlessly did. 1. The thrill is (perhaps) still there (but in a very weird way). Is it really that necessary to butcher our charming characters with too much murders, rapes and psychopath vibes not to mention so many tricks are too predictable and pitiably mundane?2. Sidney's world is much more sophisticated. Tilly's work literally equals her descriptions on the british con artist Elizabeth something.3. Admittedly it's painful to reach the end of the book but I still couldnt deny Tilly's effort, it's one giant shoe to fit eventually.

** spoiler alert ** If Tomorrow Comes is one of all time favourite Sidney Sheldon classics. I found this book casually browsing a book store and imagine my SHOCK when there were actually so many sequels. Summary: Tracy Whitney and Jeff are happy. But also something is wrong. Jeff seems perfectly happy working a 9-5 while Tracy is restless. The miscarriage of their baby and subsequent difficulty getting pregnant causes a rift. Then someone is hired to break them apart, and they succeed. Tracy goes to ground with a baby that Jeff doesn't know about. She becomes Tracy Schmidt, rich widow and most importantly, mother. Jeff, heartbroken, goes back to pulling heists. A series of murders brings in a new workaholic cop. The murders seems to follow heists and Jean pulls in Tracy to assist. It turns out the murders and heists are masterminded by Daniel Cooper, the messed up insurance inspector from the first book. The book climax has Daniel kidnapping Jeff in a perverse attempt to marry Tracy. Thoughts:1. I am sad that Tracy and Jeff didn't make it work. As a romantic at heart, that they were broken apart and didn't work in the end was distressing. They obviously loved each other a lot and frankly Jeff should have known about his son. 2. This gave me very much angels and demons vibes - between the art description of the shroud, the religious fanatic and the riddle to rescue someone from a murder, I felt like I was reading a much different genre. 3. The heists weren't as interesting by the time it got to the second phase of the book where the story line became more dominated by the murders. Where are you Tracy. Overall: I missed Tracy. I might need to go back and read the first again for a good idea of flow but it was a pretty good book in its own right.
