Mit ihrer Selection Reihe hat Kiera Cass meine Jugend geprägt, wie fast keine andere Autorin. Ich habe die Bücher damals verschlungen, bin in die Welt eingetaucht, habe mich in die Charaktere verliebt und mehrmals Tränen vergossen. Kiera Cass verzaubert die Leser mit ihren Worten und lässt diese auf eine magische Reise mitnehmen. Und auch noch Jahre später habe ich diese Buchreihe genauso sehr ins Herz geschlossen. Deswegen bin ich mehr als ausgeflippt, als ich mitbekommen habe, dass eine meiner Lieblingsautorinnen eine neue Reihe rausbringt.Und auch mit „Promised“ hat Kierra Cass es wieder geschafft mich zu verzaubern. Ich stand im Wechselbad der Gefühle, wusste oft nicht wohin sich die Geschichte entwickeln wird und habe die ganze Zeit mit Hollis mitgefiebert, in der Hoffnung, dass ihr Herz eine richtige Entscheidung treffen wird und sich damit ihre Zukunft nicht zu einem schlechteren wendet. Natürlich war ich aber zu Beginn des Buches erstmal skeptisch. Ich glaube, so geht es jedem, wenn man ein großartiges Buch oder in diesem Fall Buchreihe von einem Autor gelesen hat und nun in ein völlig davon losgelöstes neues Projekt eintaucht. Aber diese Skepsis konnte sich schnell in Begeisterung umwandeln.Ja, dieses Buch ist nicht Selection. Daran wird es wahrscheinlich auch als Gesamtwerk gesehen mit dem zweiten Band nicht rankommen. Aber ich war offen für etwas neues und konnte es kaum abwarten in ein neues Königreich, mit neuen Charakteren und einer anderen Historie einzutauchen.Zuerst muss ich das Cover einmal loben. Es sticht nicht nur durch seine goldenen Details hervor, sondern ist einfach rundum wunderschön. Ein echter Hingucker im Regal und definitiv um Welten besser gelungen als das englische Gegenstück. Kiera Cass Schreibstil hat mich auch mal wieder verzaubert und lies sich wie auch schon bereits bei ihren anderen Büchern sehr gut lesen. Dadurch das der Roman in der Ich-Perspektive aus Hollis Sicht verfasst wurde, konnte ich mich gut in sie hineinversetzen und ihre Gedanken und Gefühle mitverfolgen.Ich habe „Promised“ innerhalb weniger Stunden inhaliert und konnte förmlich gar nicht mehr aufhören. So sehr wollte ich wissen wie es weitergeht und was es mit dem mysteriösen Silas auf sich hat, der Hollis ganze Welt auf den Kopf stellt, obwohl sie ihr Leben doch schon vorausgeplant hat und eigentlich den König Jameson liebt. Es handelt sich in dem Roman wirklich um ein untypisches Dreiecksgespann, also kann ich jeden der Angst hat, dass „Selection“ wiederholt wird schon mal beruhigen. Sowohl Silas und Jameson waren mir beide samt sympathisch und ich finde es gut, dass Kiera Cass es geschafft hat wirklich bis auf die Ausnahme des Antagonisten rundum liebenswerte Charaktere zu erschaffen. Bis auf Delia Grace, die beste Freundin der Protagonistin – die fand ich von Anfang an außerordentlich nervig und das hat sich bis zum Schluss leider nicht geändert.Im Verlauf des Buches passieren einige Dinge, die ich so nicht für möglich gehalten habe – besonders nicht für den 1. Band einer Dilogie. Natürlich habe ich mit manchen Handlungsverläufen gerechnet, jedoch nicht, dass diese schon so früh passieren, sodass es mir nun echt unter den Fingern kribbelt, zu erfahren wie es weitergeht. Ich konnte nicht glauben, was am Ende passiert und brauche dringend dafür eine Erklärung.Leider muss ich mich erstmal ein Jahr gedulden, aber für so eine Herzensgeschichte mache ich das gerne. Zuletzt möchte ich noch eine kleine Nebensache kritisieren. In dem Buch geht es sehr viel um die Politik zweier Königreiche und ich habe lange gebraucht, um einen wirklich guten Einblick zu erhaschen, deswegen hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass eventuell eine Landkarte in dem Buch abgedruckt worden sei, damit ich mir die Welt visuell noch etwas besser hätte vorstellen können. Aber nichtsdestotrotz war „Promised“ ein wahnsinniges gutes Buch, das einfach nur Lust auf mehr macht!Fazit: Ich habe mich lange Zeit auf den Release von „Promised“ gefreut und wurde glücklicherweise nicht enttäuscht! Kiera Cass entführt den Leser in eine magische neue Welt, voller Intrigen, Glanz und Liebe. Die Geschichte hat mich in ihren Bann gezogen und ich konnte mich komplett in ihr verlieren. Ich freue mich wirklich sehr auf den 2. Band und bin gespannt, wie Kiera Cass die Reihe zu einem Ende führt!

I honestly don't know why so many people didn't like this book, but for me it was awesome. I think it's more my taste or I was in a really good mood when I read this. The ending was sad and brought me to tears. I had no idea there was a second book because my heart cannot settle with this ending, so I'm definitely going to proceed with the next book.

Kiera Cass did it again folks, y me gustó mucho, debo admitir.Como FAN de la selección estuve esperando varios años por un nuevo libro de la autora y cuando se anuncio este le tuve muchas ganas. La sinopsis sonaba... bastante similar a la primera serie de Kiera y eso me hizo un poco escéptico para leerlo pero puedo decir que estoy gratamente sorprendido y muy satisfecho con este primer libro.La historia es algo sencilla, pero aprecié bastante lo que hizo la autora. Durante la lectura me encontraba fascinado por Isolte y sus costumbres, por Valentina y el Rey Quinten y de su historia. A comparación de La Selección, me gustó mucho que The Betrothed tuviera más construcción de mundo.Este libro tiene algo que podría ser considerado un triangulo amoroso, pero no es totalmente eso. El romance forma parte importante de la historia y me gustó mucho como Kiera Cass construye la novela con este elemento a su alrededor. Tenemos la situación con Jameson y luego cuando llega Silas, pero los sentimientos de Hollis son muy claros desde el inicio. Eso si, el romance per se, o sea ya la pareja, no me gustó. De hecho, es el elemento que menos disfruté del libro. Es instalove y en ningún momento hay desarrollo por parte de la pareja. Nunca. Es cero creíble para mi y el leer algunas conversaciones entre los protas me era demasiado cringey porque no era verosímil, para nada en comparación a lo que fue America y Maxon.Hollis como prota me gustó mucho. Mucho . Es alguien completamente diferente a America, y de Eadlyn ni se diga. Es alguien fuerte y disfrute leyéndola bastante. Sus motivos me parecieron genuinos y, sorprendentemente, tiene una personalidad, tiene objetivos y tiene motivación. Jameson me gusta y siento que aun hay más para su personaje. Entiendo completamente el porqué la autora desarrollo a su personaje así y la manera en la que todos lo ven, incluido Hollis, pero siento que todavía hay más debajo de la superficie y espero que en la secuela se nos revelen más capas de él. Silas, por otro lado, me fue algo indiferente. Similar a lo del romance, nunca hay un desarrollo lo sufientemente creíble con él.Otro de mis aspectos favoritos fue el estilo de escritura. Kiera tiene una forma muy real, regia, principesca incluso de narrar las cosas. Como estamos todo el tiempo en un castillo y con la realeza se me hizo adecuado su forma de presentar diálogos y descripciones de ciertos escenarios. Me gusta mucho como escribe, y leer este libro fue un deleite.Ese final me deja curioso por la secuela, que será la conclusión porqué esta es una bilogía. Al final terminé muy satisfecho con el libro, aunque con uno que otro inconveniente. Definitivamente no me decepcionó y espero con ansias ver cómo continúa esta historia el próximo año. 4 STARSI can't believe this is my first book from this author!I was hooked and I find the story interesting and captivating!I was intrigued from the beginning.My only complain is about the characters I couldn't say I liked them 100% .The main couple needed more development in their relationship!I wanted to see more build up!This is my first book from this author and definitely not the last!I'm looking forward for the next book in the series!    

wow hi THAT ENDING KIERA HOW COULD YOU I CANNOT WAIT A YEAR+ FOR THIS

I knew Cass was going to defy all of my expectations. But i could never have imagined by how much! Once again, a new voice to get used to in Jasika Nicole, but then Hollis is a brand new character who should stand out on her own. ⚖️ Plot: I had no idea what I was getting into. Twist upon twist takes you to a place you never expected to be. So much heartbreak, yet satisfying nonetheless. That’s a great talent of Kiera Cass. 🗺 World: A wonderful era of lords and ladies, whilst being one where many injustices could be gotten away with. Truly well balanced with a whole cast of characters who are light and dark at the same time. 💑 Characters: Let’s take a moment to appreciate the names in this book. Hollis, Jameson, Delia Grace... so unique and full of charm. I never trusted Jameson, but I still want him to be happy. I can’t wait to see what Hollis does next. So many possibilities now that she is royalty on the other side of the realm!

I am so horrified, I absolutely love this book, but I am completely devastated on with what has just happened in this book. I suggest not reading this book if you are super emotional, I am not emotional and yet I found myself crying a little bit. (I know wimpy right?) But I couldn't help it, if you have read the book Heartless by Marissa Meyer (another one of my favorite authors) and can still stand to read it more than once than I say you can read this book. :) :(

Mais uma vez entramos no mundo de Kiera Cass. É impressão minha ou as capas dos livros dela são sempre mágicas? Este livro transportou-me novamente para outra época, uma época onde conhecemos Lady Hollis. Lady Hollis é uma jovem enigmática que vai disputar da atenção do rei em conjunto com outras jovens da nobreza. Devido a um evento supostamente incontornável, Lady Hollis cai nos braços do rei, e a partir desse momento o rei ficou intrigado com esta jovem e disposto a fazer tudo para a agradar.Lady Hollis também irá fazer de tudo para que o rei não perca o seu interesse. O seu objetivo sempre foi este, ser rainha. Até que um dia aparece um jovem que se vem alojar no castelo. E apenas com uma troca de olhares, Lady Hollis vai colocar em tudo em questão, especialmente os seus sentimentos. Será que ser rainha é realmente o que quer? Será que os sentimentos que sente pelo rei são reais? Para além das reviravoltas que o livro traz, entramos mesmo neste mundo da corte e ficamos a conhecer os seus costumes. Indicado para pessoas que gostam de romances históricos. Tenho de admitir que gostei muito desta leitura (apesar das reviews serem muito negativas). Mas claro que haveria aspetos que deveriam ter sido muito mais explorados, às vezes parecia que tudo acontecia muito rápido. No entanto, quero ler os restantes livros desta saga porque foi uma história leve e engraçada que veio mesmo no momento certo, no momento que estava a precisar de ler um livro assim.

** spoiler alert ** "Promised" ist nicht "Selection", wer das erwartet, wird womöglich enttäuscht in sein Kopfkissen beißen. Mich hat das kein bisschen gestört, ich liebe die Bücher von Kiera Cass, ihren Schreibstil und, dass junge Frauen auch junge Frauen sein dürfen und nicht wirken, als wären sie, kaum dass sie aus den Windeln gewachsen sind, mit Löffeln voller Weisheit überfüttert worden. Insofern mochte ich auch Hollis; ihre Bissigkeit, ihre Charakterstärke, ihre Naivität, ihre Gutmütigkeit, ihre Unsicherheit, ihre Wankelmütigkeit, ihr Temperament und ihr großes Herz. Ich glaube, dass ihre eigentliche Geschichte jetzt erst wirklich beginnt und man großes von ihr erwarten darf. Dem Plot bin ich auch gerne gefolgt. Es gibt kaum Geschichten, in die ich mich so fallen lassen kann, wie in die von Kiera Cass. Wie die Reichen und Schönen sich mit ihren "Luxusproblemchen" herumschlagen, während die Welt außerhalb unserer Bücher ab und an gefährlich am Abgrund kratzt. "Promised" hat zum Ende hin sogar mehr Ecken und Kanten bekommen, als ich anfangs erwartet habe. Sehr mutig, von Kiera Cass wenn man bedenkt, wie es Veronica Roth nach der "Divergent"- Reihe ergangen ist, aber so macht es auch Sinn, warum die Beziehung zwischen Hollis und Silas nicht richtig mitfühlen lässt. Ich bin sehr gespannt, ob sie es im zweiten Band anders löst, denn ich gehe mal stark davon aus, dass nun der unnahbare Etan Northcott auf"s Parkett tritt. Und auch die schwarzen Ritter und König Quinten bieten einiges an Konflikpotential, aber bis dahin heißt es nun leider erstmal warten und warten und warten..

Holy plot twist Batman!

Als Kiera Cass iets nieuws uitgeeft na het succes van De Selectie, moet ze wel overtuigd zijn dat het die serie kan evenaren. Ik werd aan het twijfelen gebracht door wat minder enthousiaste eerste reacties, maar oh wat ben ik blij dat ik mijn eigen mening ben gaan vormen want ik heb van dit boek genoten!Dit is, net als De Selectie, zo'n boek dat je het gevoel geeft van zo'n foute Netflix kerstfilm maar dan zonder kerst. Genieten is dat vind ik! Heerlijke ontspanning, zeker met dit lekkere weer. Echt zo'n verhaal dat je de huidige rare tijden waarin we nu leven even doet vergeten - behalve dat het een beetje verwarrend is dat het land Coroa heet (:Ik wist helemaal niets van het plot toen ik aan dit boek begon. De nieuwe Kiera Cass wilde ik sowieso lezen, en dan ben ik alleen maar bang voor spoilers in de flapteksten. Ik ben daar erg blij mee, want ik werd door veel verschillende elementen in het verhaal en de ontwikkeling van alles erg verrast. Ik vind er echt heel erg veel vaart in zitten. Ze had dit verhaal ook best over meerdere boeken uit kunnen spreiden, maar ik vind het erg tof dat ze dat niet gedaan heeft. Ik ben erg benieuwd wat deel 2 ons gaat brengen! Het wordt een duologie dus ik ben benieuwd naar de ontknoping dan ook meteen. Misschien volgen er ook nog wel andere boeken vanuit andere personages geschreven zoals bij De Selectie? Ik hoop het. Ik zal in ieder geval alles van Kiera Cass blijven verslinden!Oh en heel leuk dat wij als Nederlands taalgebied de primeur hebben voor dit boek - en dan is de Engelse ook nog eens uitgesteld tot volgende week. Voelt helemaal speciaal dan :) Ook vind ik de Nederlandse cover mooier dan de Engelse. Er zit meer beweging in, meer vaart - en het verhaal heeft vind ik ook heel veel vaart en tig ontwikkelingen dus ik vind het veel beter passen.

I know this book is getting mixed reviews but personally I really liked it. I am a Kiera Cass STAN ok and I love her books and her talent to write about royalty. Eventhough I liked The Selection more, her books still get me all giddy inside.I did relate to Hollis in some aspects and some things she said did hit close to home. I loved her willpower and strength to literally walk away from everything she lived up to be. Hollis was a character that I really admired for her bravery and that really stuck out to me.*SPOILERS, do not read pass this point if u have not read this book*When Hollis first left the king for Silas, I was not too happy. I always love the idea of a forbidden romance and people following their heart but it hurt me that Hollis just made a rash decision and left a king who really wanted to care for her. (I really liked the king and his sweet gestures hehe :)) But as it came towards the end, I started developing a love for Hollis’ and Silas’ innocent relationship.THEN SILAS DIED. HE WAS MURDERED. I was in shock, it took a crazy turn that I didn’t see coming and it completely took me off guard. I had to mourn for a couple seconds because she had nothing left, as her parents were murdered along with him. I do find it very loyal that Hollis took a stand with her new family and wanted to be apart of piecing their lives back together as a family of women. I really appreciated that.It was a very fun read, I can’t wait for the second book!I want to see what Hollis has up her sleeve in this new life she has created for herself.

RESEÑA COMPLETA https://letraslibrosymas.blogspot.com...Este libro tiene un poco de todo, intrigas de palacio, amor, amistad, reyes, princesas y reinos con una relación tensa, pero sobre todo se centra en los personajes, más concretamente en Hollis la protagonista. por lo que tiene una trama sencilla que va poco a poco mostrando como es la vida en palacio, como va evolucionando la protagonista y el amor y las dudas que van surgiendo en ella; tal vez esto hace que tenga momentos más lentos pero a mí me ha encantado ir descubriendo todo porque la forma de contarlo de la autora me ha enganchado mucho, además no es una trama lineal sino que tiene algunos giros argumentales que me han dejado loca, porque logran cambiar absolutamente todo y que la historia tome un rumbo que no puedo ni intuir y esto me ha pasado mucho a lo largo del libro, no sabía que podía encontrarme según avanzaba, que me iba a contar a continuación Hollis y gracias a ello me he mantenido expectante y pérdida, dispuesta a seguir y seguir pasando páginas sin darme ni cuenta, por lo que el libro me ha durado dos días.
