The Bone Artists Audiobook Summary

In this bone-chilling digital original story set in the world of Madeleine Roux’s New York Times bestselling novel Asylum, a Louisiana teen tries to make tuition money working for a sinister organization but finds that leaving comes at a terrible cost.

When Dan, Abby, and Jordan meet Oliver in Catacomb–the third book in the Asylum series–he is a mysterious young antiques dealer with a dark past. But before he was stuck in America’s most haunted city, he was a teenager with a bright future ahead of him. In this story, we find Oliver saving up to attend his dream college in the fall and leave behind his family’s New Orleans antique shop for good. And if his job just happens to involve robbing graves for a group calling themselves the Bone Artists, well–money is money, and it’s only for now. But Oliver soon learns that the Bone Artists don’t take kindly to deserters. And there are some debts that can never be repaid.

With a mounting sense of dread that builds to a terrible end, The Bone Artists is a thrilling installment in the Asylum series that can stand on its own for new readers or provide a missing piece of the puzzle for series fans.

I liked the story, but it made me feel like it was a totally different character than the Micah from Sanctum. I felt bad for Micah in sanctum, and he was a likable character. This Micah was just a dipshit who only cared about himself.

Wow!

No se les olvide seguirme y decirme que les pareció este review.Sígueme en:@nocturnal.reads en Instagram@_nocturnalreads en TwitterNocturnal Reads en YoutubeOut of the 2 short novels in this series (not including Escape from Asylum because I consider it more of a short book than a novella). I feel like this one had mor depth and more context of the secret society while in The Scarlets it was exaggeratedly vague. In the The Bone Artists, we go to Micah's past, who we met in Sanctum and a new character, Oliver. The story was a bit more creepy and given my love for conspiracy theories, I loved how Oliver didn't trust the situation throughout the novel.I won't give out more spoilers, but with this novella I felt a rush of commitment to read Catacomb .Follow me:@nocturnal.reads on Instagram@_nocturnalreads on TwitterNocturnal Reads on Youtube

*3.75* This definitely left me wanting more. I think that is the worst part about novellas. It was nice to get a backstory on Micah as he was in Sanctum. It is situations like this in the story that freak me out because they involve real people and things that can happen in real life. I for sure have to pick up Catacomb right away because I need more of Oliver’s story. I thought Roux did a good job developing the characters and their relationships in the short amount of time. I felt like I understood Oliver and had a connection with him regarding wanting to get out and go to college. There were definitely the creepy vibes that are present in Roux’s stories and that tension/ dread that as you read you know something is going to happen. She did such a great job of giving little details and snapshots of the bone artists that left you with tons of questions, convincing you that you need to pick up the next book! Overall I found this novella to be a dark and creepy read perfect for reading late at night. It has the chill factor and it’s focused on New Orleans which is known for its creepy atmosphere. Although short it introduced some dynamic characters that you want to know more about!

Oliver is the son of an antique store owner and has a girlfriend and a best friend. He is planning to go to the University of Texas at Austin, this next year. He hasn't told his father because the man doesn't want him to do anything but continue in the family business. He doesn't have the money so he and Micah get involved with a group that has them doing some grave robbing and paying them quite a bit of money to do so. They have completed one job, and are offered another but Oliver decides that he needs to get out....and refuses to do another. Then their lives start to fall apart. Oliver is now trapped in New Orleans in the antique business. It was a very good read and inspires me to consider reading some of the full-length books that this is related to. However, this novella is especially good because it actually features New Orleans and names some real businesses that I am familiar with from living in the city.

Another short story that gives insight into new characters. This one takes place before Asylum but is in reference to a new character in Catacomb. In the Bone Artists, we meet Oliver, like with The Scarlets, this gives us insight into Oliver's character prior to Catacomb. So you can choose which order you want to learn about him. Do you want to be like the characters and learn as they do or do you want to have an upper hand into his personality and motives prior to reading Catacomb? Both are good options. In this short story, we also get to see how Micah got to where he was in Sanctum. (view spoiler)[ We learn how he got sent to juvie. I was so sad but also so happy to see Micah again after what happened to him in Sanctum. (hide spoiler)]content warning: grave robbing, death

A good addition to the Asylum world. This predates the Asylum series and is a side story about Oliver who is trying to save money for college. Oliver and his friend Micah rob graves for a creepy lady who has hired the boys to do her bidding. After they successfully steal some bones for her, they swear they won't do it again. However, that's when friends and family die in terrible circumstances and Oliver receives cryptic text messages to goad him into robbing more graves. This ends on a cliffhanger, so this is a cool miniseries within the larger series.Madeleine Roux keeps getting better as a writer. Enjoying her work this year!
