The Great Gasbag audiobook

Joy Behar is so hilarious with her wit but I admire her courage to write this book. As mentioned before,I am not a political person who cares enough to date social issues but I do have strong opinions about presidents, but will not mention in the review. Mainly cause politics and religion are two things that you should never talk about, in fear of ruining friendships and tensions arising. I will say that this book was really funny about how she views Donald Trump. I think that anyone would laugh reading her glossary of terms A-Z about how he is unfit to be president.It was above average, hence the rating, it was very amusing to say the least. Regardless how you feel about President Trump being in office, this one was a very light read. It made fun of him as a person and how he was in office. Lastly, the final words had me laughing so hard,the things she say is so random but funny at the same time!Great read if you want something light, but it had's pivotal moments.

Oh, Joy ... how I loved reading this book. Sure, it's leftist humor, but its pretty funny. Lately I've been avoiding politics on most fronts ... there have just been too many triggers that I've found wearing earphones might be the only way to get me through the nightly news. So, when I was reading this book and laughed out loud a few times, you must be doing something right.

Happened upon this little gem in the New Books section of my library, immediately cracked up over the title and just had to take it home. I laughed from beginning to end. Joy Behar is a comedienne, or course, but she is also very well informed and an excellent writer. I learned while I laughed! Bonus! I very much appreciate this intelligent, educated woman's humor about a subject that usually depresses me. I feel less alone now.

I listened to the audio version of this book, and I'm sure that made a great difference in my experience, as Joy Behar's delivery is half of the fun.

An absolute must read. She is the Joy Behar we love on The View, but uncensored.

Joy has used her comedian skills and even her English teacher skills to make this awful period in our history funny. Although I preferred the alternate title "Catcher in the Lie," "The Great Gasbag" also works. I enjoyed her comments about her grandson and her use of pop culture as well as English, history, and politics to shade Trump, but occasionally she made mistakes. Even though I didn't start watching "Dancing With the Stars" until the third season, I'm fairly certain that Suzanne Somers and Dennis Rodman were never on that show. And Suzanne doesn't really do reality television shows the way Rodman does. I also was bothered by Joy's apparent failure to remember that Trump's mother, like two of his wives and his paternal grandparents, was an immigrant. The final problem was not her fault. She wrote this book in 2017 before Sean Spicer had resigned. I would love to have read her take on Ms. Sarah. Actually, maybe it is her fault. I read the paperback edition, which was published in 2018. She should have updated it.

This delightful book takes the form of a sort of dictionary. A definition of terms of the A is for Apple variety.In this way, Joy Behar effectively showers not just trump but the entire administration and the history of the current situation staying with Reagan and the earlier entry into the lie that is supply side economics...or more often called "trickle down" economics.While I have make a vow that I will buy as few books as possible, preferring to check them out of the library, I may have to violate that in this case. I would love to have this book at my side to call forth while dealing with my angst about the present political situation. Like watching Stephen Colbert it is a ray of hope that proves that I am not the only one that feels the way I do.I am trying to decide what made this one good, and the Alec Baldwin, which I read and reviewed before not so good in my opinion. I think this was incisive and frightening real but stated in such a way that I could laugh. Alec's book seemed too real...to be satire. It is like we were hearing trump actually thinking.

Joy is at her best in this book. It's very funny. She has created an alphabet compendium of Trump's lies, stupidity and meanness. She so funny because she's so angry and horrified that he is in office. I concur with her sentiments. When you're feeling like he couldn't get any worse, and then he does, pick up Joy's book and use it to calm yourself down. Nothing like a good laugh to make you feel better.

This is a funny look at Donald Trump through the use of the alphabet. Some of the selections had me laughing out loud, they were so descriptive, accurate and hilarious! A wonderful look at a very scary time through the use of humor!

A good short read!

Easy, entertaining.

True to life humor

I loved it!Other than her poor opinion of all evangelical "born again" Christians and the Creator God whose main concern was for the poor, disenfranchised and outcasts of society, at the same time railing against - sadly mirroring the current situation - the self-serving, self-righteous, dishonest, avarice and hypocritical politicians, religious leaders and lawyers - I found Joy Behar to be refreshingly honest and a hilarious satirist and comedian! I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a good belly laugh and a great read! I loved it!
