What I Love About You Audiobook Summary

New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gibson returns to Truly, Idaho, and to the fate of sexy SEAL Blake Junger

GIMMEE A B-R-E-A-K!

Ex-high school cheerleader Natalie Cooper could once shake her pom-poms with the best of them. But she’s paid for all that popularity–her husband’s run off with what’s left of their money and a twenty-year-old bimbo named Tiffany. Leaving Natalie to manage a photo store and having to see some pictures she, well, really shouldn’t.

GIMMEE A S-H-O-T!

Then she comes toe-to-manly chest with Blake Junger. Exiled to a remote cabin in Truly, Idaho, Blake wants nothing to do with anyone. Instead, he’s determined to struggle with his demons and win–all on his own. But the last thing he needs is Natalie distracting him with her luscious curves and breaking down the barriers of his heart.

Well this was a really super cute easy read with just about zero angst.. I do however have a problem with the ending! It was wrapped up super quick and THERE WAS NO F'KING EPILOGUE! DAMMIT! I NEEDED AN EPILOGUE. READERS LOVE EPILOGUE'S! DON'T YOU ALWAYS WANT AN EPILOGUE!?? Unless it's a cliffhanger.. then come on... Oh well. Besides THAT.. I did enjoy it.

I Will Never Again Look at a Hoss the same...Bow Tie....Soooooo cute!!Let me start by saying, WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOU, has one of the funniest opening scene's I have ever read... Blake and Bow Tie STEAL the show! Chapter One will lighten your heart, have you cracking up, and will keep you turning pages until you are done! Oh...and sexy Blake isn't so bad on the eyes either.Natalie was a heroine that you can relate to, and one that you, like her best friend Lilah Markham (I know...Tommy's sister...y'all remember Tommy Markham, right?) will want her to get laid by Gi Joe Blake...Some of the descriptions for him are hysterical. Blake Junger is just as hot as his twin brother Beau (from RUN TO YOU) and it will be a fight to the finish for my heart, cause I simply LOVE them both so much.WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOU has all that you can expect in an RG Romance, HEAT, HUMOR and HEART...the 3 H's we can call the formula! Her bedroom, or "other" room scenes are always perfect...just enough sexual chemistry that we are about tearing our clothes off...well, not me, but the characters...and the humor that rivals a K. Higgins Romance will keep you cracking up and having your family stare at you like "What is she laughing at?", and the heart....OMG...the heart. This one had A LOT of that.My only drawback is the fact that there was just something missing...Maybe it was the fact that I missed that RG way of having the two fall in love, and getting to "watch"it happen. This was a little quick in that department, so a slight "whomp whomp" BUT, alas, this is a Rachel Gibson romance, and like I said before and I'll say again, I would read anything she wrote even if it was on toilet paper. And she gets MEGA points for mentioning Nick and Delaney Alegrezza....cause I am a HUGE TRULY, MADLY, YOURS fan!Buy it...Read it...Love it!!

Rachel Gibson never disappoints. I fell for Blake pretty much immediately. I'm not sure what it says about me that the way that he talked to Charlotte made me smile. Sure it probably wasn't appropriate most of the time but it still made me happy. Charlotte and Blake's friendship was my favorite thing about this story. The story was made even more interesting when Natalie's ex-husband makes and appearance and ends of being more of a two-dimensional character who isn't all that bad. By no means did I fall in love with him, but I could see him redeeming himself in the future. Blake and Natalie were easily likeable and their story was believable. Also Thank God for characters that aren't in their 20's!! My favorite books are the ones that are simple and fun. I need a break from all the angst and a Rachel Gibson book always does the trick! *I received an ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review

Karia’s thoughts:This was a super-fast (read short) read for me. I blew in and out of Truly like whirlwind…and speaking of whirlwinds, Blake and Natalie were both in funnel patterns. Blake with his struggle to live sober and Natalie with her struggle to find herself outside of the wife and mother she existed of late. I loved Blake’s straight forward, no sugar coating attitude…And I loved when Nat and her daughter called him on it. Both, woman and child, were feisty, strong willed and full of character. The same could not be said of Natalie’s ex.You should all know that my hot buttons revolve around addictions/adultery/abuse…the TripleA! And this book had it all, but somehow the magic that is Rachel Gibson made Blake a charmer and Nat’s ex almost palatable. What can I say about What I Love About You…Read it! Super fun, sweet, sexy and cathartic read for the beach! Enjoy!

Blake is a retired navy SEAL who has just moved to Truly, Idaho. He has just come out of two months of rehab for alcoholism. He turned to booze to deal with the PTSD he refuses to admit he has. Now he's hiding out, trying to continue the fight without involving anyone else. He has quite a grouchy attitude going on when he's interrupted by the five year old girl who lives next door.Natalie had come home to Truly five years earlier when her marriage fell apart. She had been the popular girl who married the local football hero. But her life hadn't turned out all that great, and the day after she told him she was pregnant he disappeared. Two weeks later he was found with his twenty year old girlfriend and tickets to the Caymans, then arrested and sent to prison for embezzlement. Now Natalie owns and runs a photo store and is trying to raise her daughter on her own.Blake is feeling pretty stressed. He's out of rehab, but the craving for alcohol is just as strong as ever. But he's a tough guy and is determined to fight his demons without outside help. He's out in his yard when he's accosted by Natalie's daughter Charlotte, who is determined to make friends with Blake, whether he wants it or not. He is really quite obnoxious to the little girl, but it isn't driving her away and that really confuses Blake. He's used to getting his way. When Natalie arrives to retrieve Charlotte, Blake is immediately hit with a bad case of lust. Now the craving for booze has competition in the craving he has for Natalie. He's determined to get her into his bed.Natalie is equally determined to stay out of it. Blake has no interest in a long term relationship. Natalie is a single mom and Charlotte comes first in her life. If and when she gets involved again, she wants a man who is going to stick around. She can't deny the attraction she feels for him, but she can do her best to resist it.I liked the relationship that built between Blake and Natalie. Thanks to Charlotte, they are constantly being thrown together. Blake has tried to keep himself isolated from other people but finds himself being sucked into Natalie's life. It was a lot of fun to see little Charlotte worm her way past Blake's walls. She never lets his grouchy attitude keep her down for long. I loved the way that they ended up sharing custody of a puppy, throwing them together even more. Their encounters are usually a lot of fun. Blake is in full pursuit mode, and Natalie tries to resist, not wanting more heartbreak in her life. Blake soon discovers that being around Natalie makes it easier to resist other temptations, and his feelings for her start to change. But he's also convinced that he's no good for her. In his efforts to do what he thinks is best for her, he behaves pretty badly.Natalie doesn't want to fall for Blake. She knows he's not interested in forever, but she just can't seem to stay away from him. I liked the way that she listened on those rare occasions when he opened up and didn't judge him. I also loved seeing her tell him when he was being obnoxious and not back down when he tried to push back. She worried about what was going to happen when her ex got out of prison, and I liked the way she was able to share those worries with Blake. It was fun to see that her time with Blake gave her the confidence to deal with her ex and his family. I liked the way that she had the courage to admit her feelings to Blake, and felt bad for her when he reacted as he did. I loved that she made him work for her forgiveness at the end. There were some pretty fun moments in the book. Almost anything that had Charlotte was going to be funny, and I loved seeing her fuss at Blake when he said bad words. I also enjoyed the part where Natalie has the training of the dog while Blake is away and what she taught it to do. There were also some interesting stories about some of the things that happened at her photo shop.Blake's twin Beau's arrival in Truly was both fun and frustrating. It was pretty funny to see Natalie's reaction, though it was hard on her until she discovered the truth. Beau certainly had some fun teasing Blake, But I really got mad at Beau for not being more supportive of Blake. His comments are what sent Blake running away. Natalie's ex was another character who added some stress to her life. There was a fair amount of buildup to his release. What he wanted wasn't really a surprise. I did start to like him a little better by the end, because I think he really had changed. I would have liked to see an epilogue with an update on how they are doing.

http://www.newandusedbooks.com/index....WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOURachel GibsonAvonSeptember 2014Blake Junger, ex-Navy Seal, and sixty-two days out of rehab for alcoholism, is literally living by the skin of his teeth, day by day. He purchased a mansion on five lakeside acres in Truly, Idaho and wants to be left alone to heal. However, Blake has a neighbor with a precocious five year old daughter that seems to like his yard better than her own. Little Miss Charlotte Cooper imagines she is a “hoss” and nearly drives Blake out of his mind running in circles. Charlie isn’t the least bit afraid of the “mean man” that says “bad words” to her. Charlie’s mother, Natalie, has an altercation with Blake, and that should be the last of any interaction between the neighbors.Blake really is white-knuckling his sobriety. The things he has seen and done are indelibly marked in his subconscious. Johnnie Walker has always been his best friend, and has always been there for him and now is trying to lure Blake back into the way of life he has known for years. Blake has a monozygotic twin, Beau, who is an ex-Marine, owns a very successful personal security company and is engaged to be married. Beau is the driving force behind Blake’s desire to clean up his life.Natalie Cooper married her high school sweetheart, and for ten years they tried everything to conceive a baby. When the miracle happened, her husband had gotten tired of waiting, found someone else, and skipped town with embezzled money from his firm. Natalie runs a photography studio with help from her BFF, Lilah. Blake turns out to be a good customer, and one thing leads to another, and another, and soon they really hit it off. However, Blake is a very sexual being and Natalie has suppressed her desires in order to be a good mother. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOU is a very sexy and yet extremely poignant story of two walking wounded souls, scarred from war and life. Blake and Natalie are very interesting and complex characters. They both are madly in love with a five-year-old child and a goofy dog. The supporting characters, especially octogenarian Mabel Vaughan and Lilah, are fantastic. Rachel Gibson’s forte is writing laugh-out-loud humorous, sensuous tales with witty dialogue and a strong voice for narrative, and this story has all that and more. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOU is a true delight from cover to cover. Betty Cox for ReaderToReader.com

It's been a little while since I've read Rachel Gibson so I forgot how well she can write a hero with rough edges. Blake had some really rough edges, raging a-hole edges as Natalie called him, and he wasn't apologetic about it. He was who he was and anyone who didn't like it could go jump in a lake - or kiss is ass, as he'd more likely say. But he was still a good man, so you couldn't hate him. And he didn't really treat people badly, he just said what was on his mind even if it might be slightly (or alot) offensive or even inappropriate with a child.I liked Natalie. She'd been through hell with her ex and came out stronger on the other side. She was independent and maybe a little stubborn. I like that she could take what Blake could dish out and even return it. He needed someone strong enough to take his crap and call him on it but be soft enough to see his softer side. She needed someone who wasn't afraid to break through her walls and take what she really wanted to give. He needed someone to love and to love him, though he would never admit that.I'm so glad the author included in his story arc his acceptance that he needed help and support to stay sober. I like that she made him strong enough to white-knuckle his way through most days but even stronger when he finally admitted he couldn't do it on his own. She could have left it that he battled temptation, was distracted enough by the dog, Charlotte and Natalie to get through future temptation but I felt his acceptance of going to AA made his future sobriety more believable which in turn made their HEA more believable. There were nods to previous characters in this series and of course, Blake is the twin of Beau from the Lovett, Texas series, so there was a lot familiar about this book. I feel there is more to story in Truly, Idaho, though so won't be surprised to see a future book - starring Lilah, no doubt!
