Woodpecker Wants a Waffle Audiobook Summary
One day Benny the woodpecker awakens to the best tummy-rumbling smell ever and discovers it’s something called waffles. He must taste them!
He pecks on the door of the waffle house, but he gets the boot.
He tries to sneak in, but he gets swept away.
Each time Benny tries, he just can’t seem to get to those delicious waffles. The other forest animals laugh at him: “Woodpeckers don’t eat waffles!” they say. But Benny has a brilliant plan. . . .
Steve Breen has created a delightful picture book with pitch-perfect humor and tons of visual gags that will keep readers coming back for more!

Benny the Woodpecker awakens to the most heavenly smell one morning, following it to the newly opened 'Moe's: Home of the Hot Waffle Breakfast.' But his attempts to get in the door and to get some of those delicious waffles are baffled by the waitress, who continually ejects him from the premises. The other animals are amused by Benny's troubles, and try to convince him that woodpeckers don't eat waffles. Not to be dissuaded, Benny uses a cunning stratagem to fool both his fellow forest dwellers and the humans inside Moe's.An entertaining tale, one which features an amusing ending - Benny is one clever woodpecker, managing to fool everyone! - Woodpecker Wants a Waffle would make an excellent story-time selection. It's the sort of book that rewards a closer examination. In fact, as someone who always scans the colophon for any information about the medium used in a picture-book's illustrations, I was amused to see a little joke contained in that short description. Recommended to anyone looking for engaging picture-books featuring funny stories, as well as to any waffle lovers out there!

I love this almost as much as I love waffles! It's cute and hilarious and has a little bit of anarchy and sneakiness in it ;)

Benny is a clever woodpecker. He wants waffles and nobody will stop him! He tries plan after plan, and when Rabbit and all the other animals criticize him for wanting waffles (Woodpeckers don't eat waffles!), he forms a brilliant new plan that they don't see coming. A cute story about getting what you want and not giving up.

This book tells the story of a woodpecker who wants to try a waffle so bad, that he'll do anything to get to it. It is a cute story of Benny, the woodpecker, and his many attempts to get into the diner to try a waffle no matter how many times he is turned away. No matter what his friends say, he perseveres and is finally able to get his waffle. The watercolor pictures capture his lively attitude and I think students can relate to trying to try whatever you want even if others are telling you no.

Woodpecker Wants a Waffle follows along Benny the Woodpecker on a quest for him to get waffles. He devises plan after plan to try to get waffles and in the end it finally worked! The book has cute and whimsical drawings of the characters and animals and really brings life to the story as well. Benny also has such personality and it is shown throughout the entirety of the book. Overall, a very cute story!

One morning Benny the woodpecker woke to the delicious smell of waffles. Upon investigation he decided that he just had to try some waffles, they looked and smelled so good. No way could he get past the waitress! His friends all laughed at his clever attempts, until he came up with a sure way to get into the restaurant. When everyone was watching for his grand show, Benny made his move. Funny story and fun illustrations.

I LOVED this hilarious picture book. All Benny wants is a nice-looking waffle from the local diner. The humans inside, however, are not very receptive to his needs. His forestanimal friends are also skeptical of his plans to get a waffle. His final plan is a stroke ofgenius, and I laughed out loud at the resolution. The clear and detailed illustrations added to the humor.

Hilarious and clever! Besides the text of the story, there is also sound effects text (eg. Bap! and FOOM!) signs and billboards, and speech bubbles. The story includes activities, ideas, characters, senses, and dialogue. The illustrations include clever little funny things and unique perspectives.

Woodpecker Wants a Waffle is about a woodpecker that awoke one morning and smelled waffles. This would be a great book to incorporate hands-on activities. Students would enjoy making waffles. I would recommend using this for preschool and older elementary students.
