OMG, this book was so, so good. The message was exactly what I needed to hear. So much craziness is going on in my life right now and I find myself doubting my greatness every...single...day. The point Jen Sincero makes in this self-help book is we are all great, we all have enormous potential, we all possess the power to succeed at absolutely everything we direct our energy towards, but we are also our very own obstacle. Ms. Sincero identifies common thought processes and behaviors that keep us from living a truly awesome life and she coaches the reader on how to identify them, replace them, and move forward like a badass. The first half of this book was absolutely perfect in my opinion - my favorite chapters were the ones about the power of gratitude. The later chapters got a little too new-age for my personal taste, with all the talk about the universe, vibrating energies, and controlling frequencies, but I could see where she was going with it. I benefited from this book and plan to implement some of the suggestions...I already have actually :). It really is great and I highly recommend it. Check it out!My favorite quote:“And while there are countless ways that we rip ourselves off, there’s one way in particular that is, without a doubt, the most rampant and the most devastating of all: we invest everything we’ve got in believing that we’re not good enough.”

This book was Badass!!!! If you have any mental barriers that are holding you back from achieving your goals then this book is for you! You have to be comfortable with some colorful language, and the idea of the Law of Attraction, but if you're open minded you will get a lot from this book. I've read a lot of books on this subject, but this one was so much more in your face (in a good way) and more easy to put into practice. I plan to read it again right away to make sure I get the full effect!

This book is Bad! Ass!I don't think I've ever laughed out loud that many times while reading, though comic relief is not the intent. The whole purpose of the book is to freakin' change your life already. Make a difference. Love what you do. Love yourself. Love your life. Put your best foot forward again and again. Are you where you want to be in your life? Doing what you want? Living where you want? You have to want it, crave it, need it - can't live without it! If that's the place you're in, this is your book. After that, keep reading, achieving and surrounding yourself with other rock stars.

Badasses SO rule!I don't know why or how or wtf but this book was actually unexpectedly good. While most of the ideas were not all that new, still the end result was astonishingly motivating. I think I just clicked with this book.Q:There’s nothing as unstoppable as a freight train full of fuck-yeah. (c)Q:You're here. I'm here. I love you. I'm gonna pee all over the floor about it. (c) Ewww!Q:The only failure is quitting. Everything else is just gathering information. (c)Q:You cut yourself off from the supply of awesomeness when you are not in a state of gratitude. (c)Q:You are powerful. You are loved. You are surrounded by miracles. (c)Q:What other people think of you has nothing to do with you and everything to do with them. (c)Q:Because so often when we say we’re unqualified for something, what we’re really saying is that we’re too scared to try it, not that we can’t do it. (c)Q:The definition of screwing someone over is taking their money and doing a lousy job or destroying their water source or enslaving populations, things like that—your mother being disappointed or your father disapproving or your friends being outraged does not qualify as screwing someone over. (c)Q:The Universe is totally freaking out about how awesome you are. It’s got you wrapped in a warm gorilla hug of adoration. It wants to give you everything you desire. It wants you to be happy. It wants you to see what it sees in you. (c)Q:It never ceases to amaze me the precious time we spend chasing the squirrels around our brains, playing out our dramas, worrying about unwanted facial hair, seeking adoration, justifying our actions, complaining about slow Internet connections, dissecting the lives of idiots, when we are sitting in the middle of a full-blown miracle that is happening right here, right now. (c)Q:Never apologize for who you are. It lets the whole world down. (c)Q:We only get to be in our bodies for a limited time, why not celebrate the journey instead of merely riding it out until it’s over? (c)Q:Your life is your party. You get to choose how you invite people and experiences and things into it. (c)Q:You are perfect. To think anything less is as pointless as a river thinking that it’s got too many curves or that it moves too slowly or that its rapids are too rapid. (c)Q:All this is to say that it’s not your fault that you’re fucked up. It’s your fault if you stay fucked up... (c)Q:Say nice things about your body, dress it up, and take it out. Give it hot sex, luxurious baths, and massages. Move it, stretch it, nourish it, hydrate it, pay attention to it—The better our bodies feel, the happier and more productive we are. (c)Q:In order to kick ass you must first lift up your foot. (c)Q:There’s something called the Crab Effect. If you put a bunch of crabs in a bowl and if, while they’re in there crawling all over each other, one of them tries to climb out, the rest of them will try to pull him back down instead of helping to push him out. No wonder they’re called crabs. (c)Q:If you’re always late, start being early. (c)Q:... blurter of brilliance ... (c)

4 Stars Jen Sincero is a badass who woke up from her mundane existence (THE BIG SNOOZE) and began throwing all her money, time and energy into the process of getting her true life back on track. This book is like the cliff notes or the cheat sheet to all self help books everywhere. Which is why I loved it!! Instead of drawing out the formula to spirituality and meditation she gives you snippets of doable and less intimidating passages. This helps you take the beginning steps toward your badass-ary instead of feeling overwhelmed by information and running in the opposite direction. Jen Sincero is not reinventing the wheel when it comes to the tried and true methods of getting out your own way and opening yourself up to possibilities of life. Which she is fully aware of, she's just giving you a simplified beginners guide to stop with the excuse and start making the changes you need TODAY! This book is a fountain of wisdom and QUOTES!! I love me some inspirational quotes! Some of my faves are as followed; We only get to be in our bodies for a limit of time why not celebrate the journey instead of waiting out the ride or There is nothing more unstoppable then a frate train of FUCK YA! Or In order to kick ones ass you have to be willing to lift up your foot. All the passages really resonate with me; meditation, spirituality, gratitude, body scans, and the power of manifesting your true life. I will definitely use this book in my future as a reference guide to getting my shit together. Why the 4 stars if I'm preaching this books praise? Well like I said originality is not something you will find in this book but I appreciate the authors self- awareness that it is just reiterated knowledge that's already out there in the self help world. And frankly the money passage didn't resonate with me. Talking about the fear we have toward having money? I was like who fears having money!!!??? I fear I'm not gonna have enough money but I definitely don't fear having it! All and all read this book if you want a kick in the ass with a side of inspiration and bravado. I'm going to take some of Jen Sincero advice and apply it to my life now! What's the worse that could happen? I actually put myself out there and succeed! Sounds good to me : )

She molded these ideas into a brassy way of handing them out. It's perfect for the culture right now. Stand up and believe in yourself. There is nothing new in here. Jen Sincero has learned all these lessons from other self-help styled books and cultures about manifesting our world. Most people are looking to be a badass it seems so this appeals to most people. She did a wonderful job packaging all these ideas. The basic thrust of this idea is that our thoughts create our world to some extent and for most people, our self-doubt does get in our way. When we let our insecurities rule, it can be difficult to think we deserve something and so we end up sabotaging ourselves. I do think the problem with these lines of thinking is it comes down to wanting a lot of money, nothing wrong with that. I enjoy the story because I do need to get out of my own way. My negativity really has me down right now. I feel like I'm under a net of all the reasons I can't do something instead of reaching for what I want anyway. The thing is, most of her stories she says, she talks about the universe helping her out, but her friend set are well-off people who have means. If a person is in a low class and all the people they know have little means, this mind-set becomes more difficult and you have to work harder to have things work so quickly for you. This is easier if you are in a higher class as there is more mobility, but that doesn't mean it isn't possible. This book is in the vein of 7 Habits of Highly Effective People or 'The Secret' and other books. The point is that this is a technique to change the inner workings of a person. Change the inside, the only thin we really can change, and you can create more in life. I really do believe that. I still need the reminder. I need to find a way to live this.

“You are responsible for what you say and do. You are not responsible for whether or not people freak out about it.” This is the book for you if you've ever taken stock of your life and discovered you're not living the life you desire. Although career-focused, it may be used for any element of your life, such as employment, marriage, and charity activity. Much of what she says isn't new, but her forthright demeanour packs a punch and will leave you doubled over, ready to face the world. My three favourite takeaways are;1. Everyone screws up and you’re not special for doing it.2. You don’t have to hit rock bottom to make a change. You can just decide.3. If you believe it, it is your truth. Your thoughts and beliefs dictate reality, so if you don’t like your reality, change these. One tactic at a time is the main premise. If you start digging into your self-doubts while also trying to meditate, mend your money connection, and be appreciative at the same time, you're likely to become overwhelmed.Grab your copy here.

I keep hearing about this book so I finally read it. Should've read this long ago. It's a great self-help book! Motivating, eye opening and truly helps your self-esteem. It got me motivated to take some risks and do some things I've been pushing off. I love me a good self help book, as I read some every morning. This won't be the last time I read this one! Very helpful and motivational!

If you need motivation to do your thing, this might be the book for you. This book has a lot of points that are obvious and are already said in other self-help books, but it's nice to read these points again and to help them motivate you to make more of your life and how to feel like a Badass.Jen Sincero mixes the advice she gives with her own experiences and people around her. That made the book more encouraging, reading how she became succesful in live and how she achieved what she wanted. The book consists of different subjects, but they all talk about one main advice. Some people want a book that comprehends everything, but there's nothing wrong with a book that only talks about one aspect of advice. The book started slow and I found the spiritual side the author talked about hard to get into. Getting further in the book, the spiritual side decreased and that's when I started to get more into the book. I was in between choosing 3 and 4 stars as a rating, but the fact that I got quite motivated by the book made me choose 4 stars.

Nonfiction Book-A-Week: week 4.I somehow, surprisingly, got a lot out of this. Definitely an improvement over The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**ck.Ignore the chapter on money for sure, but some of it could be useful. It does mention the law of attraction, but you can ignore that and pull some good stuff out of it even if it doesn't line up with your personal beliefs. At least I could!Notes to come.

Why a four star rating? This a seriously funny book that weaves humor and real-life, take charge advice together to make you awesome! Overall, the book is witty and honest and offers some great ways to improve your life. While the humor and anecdotes make it unique and easy to read, much of the advice is the same stuff we have all heard over and over. It's just presented in a much more, fun interesting way.Summary:"You are a Badass" by Jen Sincero teaches us how to change our lives into what we want and not just settle for the life we have been living. She discusses how to take charge of your life through embracing the self-fulfilling prophecy, identifying what made you the way you are, and erasing the negativity, lies and drama from your life. Additionally, Sincero describes a variety of exercises and attitudes that are crucial to making your life what you want it to be. She uses humor and her own life experiences to teach you how to stop complaining about the life you have and transform it into the life you've always wanted.Key topics:self-improvement, meditation, choices, decisions, transformationOther interesting information:This book has an abundance of swear words, so other than adults, I would only recommend it to upper high school or college aged students.

I. Loved. The crap out of this book. Because it's awesome. So I listened to the audiobook narrated by the author, but oh well, decided to get a physical copy also cause I want to keep it near at all times and also tab it a lot, haha. It's written in a not-complicated yet not-overly-simple way with little stories from author's life where they illustrated the point. Oh man, with self-help it's so hard to say "I recommend this book, you should read it and it will definitely help you" simply because a right book read in a wrong time in one's life won't do anything and possibly be a waste of time even. You just gotta feel when the time is right, if it makes sense? Anyway, I personally loved this book fiercely, 5/5, super duper awesome.

I came across this title when Audible had a section on recommended audio books by authors and this one was recommended by Lisa Genova, an author I enjoy very much.I decided to pre-read it before purchasing it for someone who is ready for some major changes in her life but is paralyzed by fear and doubt. It's a good book with some wise advice, with a style that I think would appeal to younger women (warning: there's some coarse language that may or may not offend). Although there’s a bit of new-agey “The Secret” type thinking in one chapter, it can be tossed aside while keeping the (mostly) good parts.
