Christ never actually told us how to “do church.” Yes, he had a lot to say about the church, but what he did say was mostly unrelated to stylistic issues or contextual trends. He never spoke about its leadership hierarchies or the pros and cons of denominational fellowships or the types of music. And yet, much of our time and energy as leaders and shepherds is consumed by chasing after tips, tricks, and secrets to “grow” churches.
While we’ve tended to focus on church growth through strategies, programs, and metric-based insights, Christ always focused on the heart and the values of the Father, the values that actually change lives and increase the spiritual health of his people.
By digging deeply into three important parables:
- The Parable of the Two Sons
- The Parable of the Sower
- The Parable of the Talents
Parable Church weaves together personal narratives, unique cultural observations, and compellingly fresh biblical insights to paint a picture of something unimaginably greater than what most people think of when they think of Jesus’ Church.
Although Jesus never gave us directions for church, he did, through his parables, reveal what we should experience in our communities together–he revealed the culture of his kingdom.

In a world that seems to be spinning out of control, we need hope now more than ever. What if the life sustaining hope you need is found within the pages of the Bible?
Our world is packed with lies and loss of trust. Wars and rumors of war. Devastation and disaster. Pressure and persecution. Lawlessness and lovelessness. Some days it seems like bad news all around. And with bad news comes questions: “Why is this happening? When will it stop? What can we do?” And perhaps the most pressing of all: “Is this the end?”
In these hope-filled pages, bestselling author, pastor, and respected Bible teacher Dr. David Jeremiah focuses our attention not on the problems at hand, but on the hand of God. That’s because Jesus Himself told us what to expect from this season of history when He delivered His Olivet Discourse—a significant sermon that scholars have called “the most important single passage of prophecy in all the Bible.”
In The World of the End, learn how:
- The Bible has already laid the foundation on how we can live victoriously, even in difficult times
- Jesus not only calls Christians to a higher standard, but equips us with the tools and strength we need to confidently follow him daily
- The gospels contain the comfort you need to trust that God is in control and that his plan is still working to completion

With his trademark clarity, Dr. Jeremiah reveals exactly what Jesus promised to us—and what He expects of us—as we approach the World of the End.

Unlike a traditional audiobook’s direct narration of a book’s text, Spiritual Gifts: Audio Lectures includes high quality live-recordings of college-level lectures that cover the important points from each subject as well as relevant material from other sources.
What are spiritual gifts?
Author and pastor Sam Storms has spent several decades teaching on the topic of the spiritual gifts and equipping believers in the faithful practice of God’s gifts. Yet there remains a great deal of confusion about the nature of the gifts and how they best function in the body of Christ.
In these audio lectures on the spiritual gifts, Storms addresses the many bizarre and misleading interpretations that abound and confronts the tendency to downplay the urgency of spiritual gifts for Christian living and ministry. He explains how spiritual gifts, both the more miraculous and the somewhat mundane, are given to build up the body of Christ. God has graciously provided these “manifestations of the Spirit” so that believers might encourage, edify, strengthen, instruct, and console one another, all with a view to an ever-increasing, incremental transformation into the image of Jesus Christ.
Storms unpacks the glorious truth that there is a supernatural and divine energy or power that fills and indwells the body and soul of every born-again believer. God does not call upon us to speculate about the nature of this power or to embrace it as a mere idea. His desire is that we avail ourselves of it to partner with him in his purposes on the earth. His desire is that we cry out to him that he might intensify, expand, increase, and deepen the manifestation of this power through us in ever more demonstrative and tangible ways in our lives.
Understanding Spiritual Gifts addresses common questions about the gifts and provides practical training for using and exercising the gifts in ministry. It is perfect for any individual or group who wants to grow in their understanding of the gifts for today.

In Every Body’s Story, Branson Parler focuses on three predominant myths of sexuality in our secular age–individualism, romance, and materialism–and three dominant myths in Christian circles–anti-body theology, legalism, and the sexual prosperity gospel–exploring how those stories shape our practice. Our views of sexuality and our practices around sex are never just about sex. How we use and view our bodies reveals who/what we think God is (or is not) and who we are.
If we truly understand the biblical logic of marriage, sexuality, and singleness–that they are meant to embody the gospel–then we will better understand why this witness is so vital. As God’s self-giving faithfulness is put on display by both married and single Christians, those formed by our secular age will have to ask: What if it’s true? What if there’s more? What if God really does love us that much? Rather than viewing our sexuality as an isolated matter of ethics, we can see how the gospel places our sexuality in the context of God’s rescue mission of the world.

Katherine and Jay Wolf married right after college and sought adventure far from home in Los Angeles, CA. As they pursued their dreams–she as a model and he as a lawyer–they planted their lives in the city and their church community. Their son, James, came along unexpectedly in the fall of 2007, and just six months later, everything changed in a moment for this young family.
On April 21, 2008, as James slept in the other room, Katherine collapsed, suffering a massive brain stem stroke without warning. Miraculously, Jay came home in time and called for help. Katherine was immediately rushed into brain surgery, though her chance of survival was slim. As the sun rose the next morning, the surgeon proclaimed that Katherine had survived the removal of part of her brain, though her future recovery was uncertain. Yet in that moment, there was a spark of hope. Through forty days on life support in the ICU and nearly two years in full-time brain rehab, that small spark of hope was fanned into flame.
Hope Heals documents Katherine and Jay’s journey as they struggled to regain Katherine’s quality of life and as she relearned to talk, eat, and walk. As Katherine returned home with a severely disabled body but a completely renewed purpose, she and Jay committed to celebrating this gift of a second chance by embracing life fully, even though that life looked very different than they could have ever imagined.
As you uncover Katherine and Jay’s remarkable story, you’ll be encouraged to:
- Find lasting hope in the midst of struggle
- Embrace the unexpected
- Welcome God’s miracles into your everyday life
In the midst of continuing hardships, both in body and mind, Katherine and Jay found what we all long to find: a hope that heals the most broken place–our souls. Let Hope Heals be your guide along the way.
Praise for Hope Heals:
“As I read this book, tears streamed from my eyes even as joy flooded my heart. Jay and Katherine are a raw yet refreshing testimony to the unshakable trustworthiness of God amidst the unimaginable trials of life. This book reminds all of us where hope can be found in a world where none of us know what the next day holds.”
–David Platt, author of the New York Times bestseller Radical and president of the International Mission Board
“Hope Heals is a beautiful, true story that illustrates the love and protection God has for us even in the darkest times of our lives. Katherine and Jay’s dedication to each other and the Lord through their most devastating season is inspiring. This book will help your heart believe that He sees, He knows, He cares, and He is still working miracles today!”

So theWhen Jesus left the planet, he left a simple directive in his apprentice’s ears: take me to the world, bring them into the family, and teach them to obey me… and don’t worry I’ll be with you every step of the way. So the system was turned on its ear. Instead of “Bring the people to me” Jesus said, “Take me to the people”. This book highlights the imperative need for the Church of Jesus Christ to be a sending culture, taking Jesus to the people who desperately need him. It focuses specifically on the awesome responsibility the blessed church of the West has in this regard to reach out globally. When Pete Briscoe arrived at Bent Tree they had “prophecy conferences.” Desiring to focus on the part of the puzzle that we can actually do something about (the great commission) they immediately shifted the emphasis to a Mission Festival. At that time they were investing just $36,000 per year in world missions, and all but one of their missionaries was on American soil. They implemented Faith Promise giving, gave opportunities for mission partners to make compelling presentations, included mission moments in their worship services, brought in mission experts to speak at a mission festival, increased giving to over $1 million annually, gave 10% of expansion giving ($2.6 million) to the world church, adopted the world’s largest unreached people group and have a desire to see a church planted in every one of the 200,000 villages in the region, and much more…This book is necessary because the American church has forgotten this simple truth: “the church of Jesus Christ exists primarily for the benefit of its non-members.” The Seeker Movement helped to remind Evangelicals of the need to reach out to Seekers, but the model was a replica of the “Bring to” Model of the Old Testament. Pete Briscoe realized early in his pastorate that people in his church viewed evangelism as, “bring them to church to hear Pete.” While obviously there are times when this is a healthy strategy to reach the lost, we are missing the mark if it becomes the dominant method. Add to this, the minimal concern for the vast regions of the world that still have yet to hear of the gospel, and the burgeoning numbers of church leaders around the planet that have little or no theological training, and you start to get a feel for the angst and concern that drives this project. There is an imperative need for an awakening in the Western church to see beyond the boundaries not only of our Church Building, but of our Community as well. We have turned a “blind eye” in attempting to reach our communities. The author would like to encourage us to turn a “kind eye” to those outside our sphere of influence who are inside our ability to touch. This is a call from a Pastor to the Church to “Lift up their eyes (again) to see the harvest.” Here’s what readers can receive from the book:* Examples of a church that has kept mission at the front and seen God do amazing things as a result. * Detailed and simple processes to help church leaders implement some simple strategies to change the culture in their church.* Help to create a paradigm shift in fund raising for missions.* Opened eyes to the enormous need and incredible potential impact the American church has.* Demonstration of how to grow children and youth with a heart for the world.* A workable model from Acts 1:8. Acts 1:8 providing a good framework for strategic expansion. Many churches today are focusing on the Jerusalem piece and the Judea part is covered with the new multi-site phenomenon. But what does a Samaria strategy look like and how do we impact the ends of the earth? Acts 1:8 keeps all four spheres before us.* Sharing of the personal journey of a pastor who leads a mission minded church.* Practical and usable tools such as a grid for evaluation potential missionaries, an evaluation process for current mission partners, mobilization techniques for keeping a church connected to her m

If you’ve ever felt like you aren’t who you used to be, or who you’re supposed to be, there is a way out.
Jim Burgen was a preacher’s kid who grew up loving church, until it felt like one day, he realized he was an adult who didn’t. He’d burned out and was full of questions. An encounter with C.S. Lewis’ Voyage of the Dawn Treader introduced him to Eustace, a little boy whose greed and hurt turned him into a dragon. He couldn’t un-dragon himself, no matter how hard he tried. Only one person could: the good lion, Aslan. That day, Burgen’s life changed forever.
With conversational, vulnerable, and oftentimes humorous language, Burgen takes us on a journey through the remarkable process of Jesus saving him from himself, and how that can be true for you, too. He wrestles with more-than-surface-level questions, like:
- Why don’t I like most churches?
- What does the bible really say about how we should interact with people Christian culture have labeled “other?”
- Where is God in difficult times?
- Is Jesus the only way you can “un-dragon” yourself?
Whether you’re trying to figure out this whole Jesus thing, or you’ve been in church all your life but you’re still full of questions, this approachable book is for you.

It’s time to ante up and go all in with God.
The Gospel costs nothing. You can’t earn it or buy it. It can only be received as a free gift, which is compliments of God’s grace. It doesn’t cost anything, but it demands everything. It demands that we go “all in,” putting all that we have into God’s hands.
But why do so many Christians hesitate to do that? And when did we start believing that the Gospel is an insurance plan? We’re afraid that if we go all in that we might miss out on what life has to offer. But Jesus did not die to keep us safe. He died to make us dangerous.
So, let’s step out of spiritual no man’s land and kneel at the foot of the cross of Christ and surrender to his lordship. It’s time to dethrone yourself and enthrone Christ as king, and Pastor Mark Batterson is here to show you how.
Using his customary vivid, contemporary illustrations, as well as biblical characters like Shamgar, Elisha, Jonathan, and even Judas, you will be challenged to trade what Batterson calls “inverted Christianity” for true discipleship as you strip away your excuses and inhibitions and follow God completely.
It’s now or never. Are you ready to go all in and all out for God?

Telling a Better Story clears a path to a more effective, empathetic apologetics for today–both for experienced apologists and those new to sharing their faith with others.
Today’s Christians often view the practice of defending their faith as pushy or unnecessary. Won’t it just be taken for proselytizing? Don’t many unbelievers find it offensive? Many Christians have shifted to a strategy of hoping that our lives will show Christ to our neighbors–and, while this is certainly good, it’s no substitute to actively telling people about Christ.
In Telling a Better Story, author Joshua Chatraw presents a new and refreshing way to engage in apologetics that will help you tell the story of Christ in a holistic, culturally-contextual manner that–while being respectful–helps unbelievers imagine a more complete happiness and a better meaning to life.
Telling a Better Story will give you the tools to:
- Understand the cultural stories that surround us.
- Recognize how these secular stories have shaped the way many people think.
- Learn how to tell God’s story in a fresh way that allows today’s younger generations to see it as a more meaningful and more hopeful story than the scripts around it.
Finally, you’ll also learn how to deal with the perennial issues and common objections to Christianity.

Engstrom, President Emeritus, World Vision
Richard J. Foster has touched countless lives with his spiritual classic, Celebration of Discipline, which has sold over one million copies since it was first published twenty years ago. Now, with Streams of Living Water, Foster again strengthens and enriches the spiritual lives of listeners everywhere with this unique exploration of the major traditions at the core of Christian practice.
In this landmark work, Foster examines these streams of living water – the six dimensions of faith and practice that define Christian tradition. He lifts up the enduring character of each tradition in the midst of constantly evolving faith and shows how a variety of practices, from individual study and retreat to disciplines of service and community, are all essential elements of growth and maturity.
Each of these great historical movements emphasizes a different aspect of life and faith. The six streams Foster presents are: the Contemplative, or prayer-filled life; the life of Holiness, or the virtuous life; the Charismatic, or Spirit-empowered life; the life of Social Justice, or the compassionate life; the Evangelical, or Word-centered life; and finally, the Incarnational, or sacramental life.
Foster examines the unique contributions of each of these traditions, and offers as examples the inspiring stories of faithful people whose own lives defined these streams.
In Streams of Living Water, Foster seeks a balanced path to a renewal of the spirit. He identifies the strengths and the weaknesses of each stream and offers practical ways to incorporate each of these spiritual dimensions into our daily lives – offering a clear and tangible path to authentic Christian experience. He reveals that while each stream is capable of providing spiritual growth, the most complete renewal can only come from combining the best from each tradition.

The human body is an amazing gift, yet today, many people downplay its importance and fail to understand what Christianity teaches about our bodies and their God-given purposes. Many people misunderstand how the body was designed, its role in relating to others; and we lack awareness of the dangers of objectifying the body, divorcing it from its intended purpose.
Timothy Tennent covers topics like marriage, family, singleness, and friendship, and he looks at how the human body has been objectified in art and media today. For the Body offers a biblical framework for discipling people today in a Christian theology of the body.
Tennent–theologian and president of Asbury Theological Seminary–explores the contours of a robust Christian vision of the body, human sexuality, and the variety of different ways we are called into relationships with others. This book will reveal a theological vision that:
- Informs our self-understanding of our own bodies.
- Examines how we treat others.
- Reevaluates how we engage today’s controversial and difficult discussions on human sexuality with grace, wisdom, and confidence.
For the Body is a call to a deeper understanding of our bodies and an invitation to recapture the wonder of this amazing gift.

C.S. Lewis–the great British writer, scholar, theologian, broadcaster, Christian apologist, and bestselling author of Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Chronicles of Narnia, and many other beloved classics–explores the essence of love and how it works in our daily lives in one of his most famous works of nonfiction based on his series of radio talks from 1958.
With penetrating logic and charming wit, Lewis explores the four aspects of love: affection, the most basic form; friendship, the rarest and perhaps most insightful; Eros, passionate love; and charity, the greatest and least selfish.
Lewis exposes the pitfalls in our loves, leading us to the agape love that God has for humankind and the type of love we must develop to nurture our relationships. Throughout this compassionate and methodical study, he encourages readers to open themselves to all forms of love–the key to understanding that brings us closer to God.

DrawingJ.P. Moreland—Christian philosopher, theologian, and apologist—issues a call to recapture the drama and power of kingdom living—to cultivate a revolution of Evangelical life, spirituality, thought, and Spirit-led power.
Drawing insights from the early church, he unpacks three essential ingredients of this revolution:
- Recovery of the Christian mind.
- Renovation of Christian spirituality.
- Restoration of the power of the Holy Spirit.
Western society is in crisis: the result of our culture’s embrace of naturalism and postmodernism, and a biblical worldview has been pushed to the margins. Christians have been strongly influenced by these trends, with the result that their personal lives often reflect the surrounding culture more than the way of Christ, and the church’s transforming influence on society has waned as a result.
Kingdom Triangle is divided into two major sections:
- The first examines and provides a critique of secular worldviews and shows how they have ushered in the current societal crisis.
- The second lays out a strategy for the Christian community to regain the potency of kingdom life and influence in the world.
Moreland believes that evangelical Christianity can mature and lead the surrounding society out of the meaningless morass it finds itself in with humility and vision. With clear insight, he puts the thoughtful Christian in a position to understand our current cultural struggle and to return to a responsible presentation of “the way of Christ” as not just a way of right living, but also a way of knowledge and meaningful life.

As a result, most Christians learn more about homosexuality from movies, the internet, television, and so-called diversity training than they learn in their own congregations. Many people who struggle with same-sex attraction are torn by the debate while yearning to hear the redemptive truth of the Bible and be touched by the unyielding love of Christ. Author Bill Campbell believes that Christians can have a significant positive influence on how the larger culture frames the issue of same-sex attraction. He combines twenty years of study with current surveys and research by national leaders of ministries to homosexuals.
Campbell packs his book with insights, tools, and practical guidelines for creating ministry in any size or type of congregation. Implementing these ideas not only helps bring Christ’s presence to those with unwanted same-sex attractions, but also enables Christian congregations to become more relevant to a changing world. This book covers such topics as the nature/nurture debate, law vs. grace, and scripture’s call to holiness. Readers are equipped with understanding and language to converse about each topic in a truthful, loving, and insightful manner. Likewise, Campbell suggests ways churches can build ministry in five critical areas: leadership training, preaching, support groups, mentoring/counseling, and outreach.
Turning Controversy into Church Ministry provides the right blend of information, practical steps for action, and guidelines for Christian renewal so that controversy about homosexuality can become the launch pad for vital ministry.

Sooner or later Christians tire of public meetings that are profoundly inauthentic, regardless of how well (or poorly) arranged, directed, performed. We long to meet, corporately, with the living and majestic God and to offer him the praise that is his due.”–D. A. Carson
Worship is a hot topic, but the ways that Christians from different traditions view it vary greatly. What is worship? More important, what does it look like in action, both in our corporate gatherings and in our daily lives? These concerns–the blending of principle and practice–are what Worship by the Book addresses. Cutting through cultural clich√©s, D. A. Carson, Mark Ashton, Kent Hughes, and Timothy Keller explore, respectively:
- Worship Under the Word
- Following in Cranmer’s Footsteps
- Free Church Worship: The Challenge of Freedom
- Reformed Worship in the Global City
“This is not a comprehensive theology of worship,” writes Carson. “Still less is it a sociological analysis of current trends or a minister’s manual chockfull of ‘how to’ instructions.” Rather, this book offers pastors, other congregational leaders, and seminary students a thought-provoking biblical theology of worship, followed by a look at how three very different traditions of churchmanship might move from this theological base to a better understanding of corporate worship. Running the gamut from biblical theology to historical assessment all the way to sample service sheets, Worship by the Book shows how local churches in diverse traditions can foster corporate worship that is God-honoring, Word-revering, heartfelt, and historically and culturally informed.

Major Ian Thomas, a British theologian, teacher, and the founder of Torchbearers Bible Schools, spent seven exhausting years trying to live for Christ when he realized that God actually just wanted to live through Him. He offered this extremely simple advice in considering the Christian life: Go where you are sent, stay where you are put, and do what you are asked.
With her trademark warmth and keen sense of humor, esteemed Bible study teacher Jill Briscoe follows Major Thomas’s example to help readers learn how to allow God to live through them, finding their mission field to be right before them—in the space between their own two feet. She uses stories from her own life and of other contemporaries to unpack the story of Moses in helping us better understand our true worth and calling. She asks, “What is your Jerusalem, your Judea, your Samaria? Whether you’re fifty or fifteen, you are called to be God’s light in a troubled world.” This classic work is being updated to include conversation starters and Bible study questions at the end of each chapter.

Author and pastor Bob Roberts Jr. is one of the architects of this unique approach to Christianity—based on biblical and missional discipleship—that he calls T-Life (transformed life), which leads to a T-World (transformed world).
Ever since Jesus’ commission to make disciples in his name, Christianity has transformed lives and the world at large. To those watching, it must have looked like an upstart religion led by a group of men, most of whom were martyred for their beliefs. The voice of secular culture today is no louder and no more indulgent than it was in those days. And yet much of the Western church has settled for becoming just another mass media market that’s adding to the noise, instead of a movement that continues to turn the world upside down.
Drawing inspiration from early church history and the emerging church in the developing world, Roberts envisions a new way of engaging the local church to achieve common goals. He calls for:
- Building a church culture rather than a church program.
- Empowering the local church to invest in the global missions field.
- Consistently reestablishing our relationship with Jesus Christ in order to experience true transformation.
In fact, all this begins with a growing, interactive relationship with God that includes personal and corporate worship. This, in turn, results in community. As community serves others, transformation has both a global and local impact and creates transformation in the world.
Transformation redefines the focus and practice of the church, not from external bells and whistles, but from the internal transformation of the very character of its people.

Everyone needs to be able to name what God has put them on the earth to do. Most people never do. That is a tragedy of epic proportions.
We need a simple way to discover that calling, and Find Your Place is that way. GPS technology is widely known as a way to know where you are on the earth, as well as a way to guide you to get where you want to go. The Find Your Place audiobook will help followers of Jesus locate three signals that will help people discern their personal calling: their Gifts, their Passions, and their Story, and help them take meaningful next steps to engage that calling.
Furthermore, the American Church has a Co-Dependency Disorder. Church members have become dependent upon church leaders, and church leaders need their members to remain that way. This co-dependence is doing more than throttling the vitality of the church…it is strangling it. In order for the people of God to truly thrive and be salt and light in the world, church leaders must move from simply “gathering and teaching” their members to “empowering and releasing them.” This audiobook, the accompanying online assessment, and the disciple-making tools that both will be integrated into, will all be a part of a turn-key solution for church leaders to accomplish that goal.

His goal was to fly 240 million miles from earth and, along with fellow astronaut Neil Armstrong, be the first to walk on the moon. But moments before that historic step, Aldrin poured a specially prepared drink into a cup and partook of a sacred celebration that had first occurred two thousand years before.
The lunar Last Supper was full of meaning, just as it had been when Jesus himself took of the elements and acknowledged his calling and purpose. But the significance didn’t end there. Today, as we remember the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, followed by his resurrection, we are reminded that what seemed to be an end became the genesis of everything–including the rescue and restoration of anyone who calls on Jesus’ name.
In this five-session study, bestselling author and pastor Levi Lusko journeys back in time and forward in hope, using the 1969 lunar mission as an analogy of the metamorphosis that was unleashed by the man from Galilee. Along the way, he uncovers the remarkable “seven statements” that Jesus made from the cross–words that provide us everything we need in the chaos of our world to conquer judgment, persecution, anxiety, and pain.

So many of us live stuck. Stuck in trying to seem perfect. Stuck in sadness. Stuck feeling numb. Stuck pursuing more stuff to make us happy. Stuck in something we can’t even name. These stuck places often go unattended inside of us and they are shaping our lives more than we would like to think.
In Stuck, Bible teacher Jennie Allen shows us where we are stuck and why:
- We are stuck in anger because we aren’t trusting God to defend us.
- We are stuck in discontentment because we are looking to the wrong things for fulfillment.
- We are stuck in worry because we have made something other than God our idol.
- We are stuck doing too much because we don’t know our real purpose.
- We are stuck in sadness because we have wrong expectations.
Through deep Bible study and practical exercises, Jennie shows us how we’ve been trying to fix this stuck feeling with everything but God. He has a plan for these spaces inside of us, the places we feel broken, but we have to go to Him. Stuck is a journey to take an honest look at the fight going on inside, leading us to the God who has a plan to restore us. Our stuck places are the very places that make us ache for God, and we find Him waiting there for us with hope and freedom.
