The Warrior Cats series is a co-creation of seven authors. However, all the books were published under the Erin Hunter pseudonym. Here’s everything you need to know about each of the authors behind this popular book series.

Katy Cary

Katy Cary was born in England in 1967. She attended Royal Holloway, London University, where she studied witchcraft, madness, and women. Cary got a BA in Arts and History, and in 1992, she obtained an MA in Women’s History.

She lived in Scotland for 12 years, where she started writing. In 2001, she joined the Warrior team after submitting her work to a company named Working Partners. The author received a proposal to work with editor Victoria Holmes, who has devised a series about feral cats.

Cherith Baldry

Cherith Baldry is a British author of children’s fantasy fiction books. She attended Manchester University and St. Anne’s College.

Before starting her career as a writer, she worked as a teacher. Aside from the Warriors series, she’s also participated in the Seekers series.

She lives in Reigate with two cats, Sorrel and Bramble, who she used as an inspiration for her books.

Gillian Philip

Gillian Philip is a Scottish author born in 1964. She is one of the authors that adopted the Erin Hunter pen name in the Warrior Cats series.

She has also written the first two books of the Survivor series, The Empty City and A Hidden Enemy. Other publications include Bad Faith, The Opposite of Amber, and Crossing the Line.

Tui Sutherland

Tui Sutherland was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved around to different countries, including Paraguay and the Dominican Republic, before settling in New Jersey in her teens.

Her career in the literary world started as an editor. However, many ideas motivated her to begin writing her own books.

She became a bestselling author with the Wings of Fire series. Other publications include the Menagerie trilogy, This Must Be Love, and Legends of the Brethren Court.

Rosie Best

Rosie Best is an English author and editor. Her first published novel was a young adult fantasy called Skulk, which features a young girl who can shapeshift into a fox.

She worked as an editor on the Survivor series and joined the Warrior Cats team as an assistant in charge of the fanmail.

She lives in Cambridge with her partner Jessie and her two rescue cats, Misty and Midnight.

Clarissa Hutton

Her first role as part of the Warrior team was as an editor at HarperCollins Publishers. She became more involved in the Warrior Cats project when she left to join Working Partners, first as an editor and then as a writer of the novellas.

While working as a co-writer of the Warrior Cats series, she published various children’s books as a ghostwriter under the Clare Hutton pen name.

Inbali Iserles

Inbali Iserles was born in Israel but moved to England with her family at age 3. Her love for wildlife, especially of the feline breed, inspired her first book, The Tygrine Cat.

She’s also the author of the popular fantasy thriller trilogy, Foxcrafted.

But now the ThunderClan cats are in danger, and the evil ShadowClan gets stronger daily. Amid mysterious deaths, a house cat, or kittypet, as the Clan calls domestic cats, named Rusty, appeared. He’ll prove to be a brave warrior.

Fire and Ice

Fire and Ice follows Fireheart in his quest to become a true warrior. However, other dangers are lurking in the forest.

WindClan has gone missing, and the three remaining clans’ relationship has gone from civil to hostile.

Forest of Secrets

Redtail, ThunderClan deputy, is dead, and Ravenpaw knows the murderer. However, the repercussions of telling the truth make him flee and join a group of loner cats.

Now Fireheart will stop at nothing to uncover the truth. Clans’ loyalties have been shifting, creating tension among the warrior cats in the forest.

Rising Storm

Fireheart has known treason. Tigerclaw has been exiled from the ThunderClan, but Fireheart can feel him lurking in the forest. Unfortunately, that’s the least of his problems. The Clans are not what they used to be, and a storm is coming.

A Dangerous Path

A Dangerous Path follows the story of the ShadowClan’s new dark leader. Meanwhile, Fireheart looks for the connection between Tigerstar and his prophetic dreams, while the Clan leader turns her back on their warrior ancestors. Fireheart can’t help but wonder if StarClan has abandoned them.

The Darkest Hour

In his search for ultimate power, Tigerstar puts every other clan in terrible danger. The only salvation for the Clan lies in Fireheart and a proclamation from StarClan that predicts the lion and tiger will meet in battle.

Starlight

Starlight follows the Clans to their new home. They will have to navigate many challenges besides the dangers they may encounter in their new territory.

They will need a new Moonstone to communicate with StarClan, get medicine cat secrets, and choose a new leader.

Firestar’s Quest

From the Warriors Super Edition, Firestar’s Quest features a time of peace between the clans. It also introduces a new Clan to the story named SkyClan.

But things are not as easy as they sound. Firestar’s dreams are haunting him. He has to make the tough decision of embarking on a journey to discover the truth.
