How to read The Murderville books in order
You’ve most likely heard about Murderville as a popular Netflix series. Maybe you’ve even watched the show. However, only a few people know that the series started out as a book trilogy.
Here’s what you need to know about the authors and the proper reading order.
What is Murderville about?
Murderville is one of the most popular works of the bestselling authors Ashley and JaQuavis Coleman. They have worked on over 40 books together and are the youngest African American authors to become New York Times bestsellers twice.
Both authors received publishing deals in college and have published multiple book series together:
- The Cartel series (eight books in series)
- Dirty Money series (two books)
- Murderville series (three books), published by Cash Money Content
Ashley Coleman is best known for her race series The Prada Plan, while JaQuavis Coleman is the author of Dopeman’s Trilogy.
Now back to the Murderville series.
The Murderville trilogy tells the story of two children from Sierra Leone who were sold as slaves. The series depicts the cruel underground human trafficking world controlling the lives of many.
However, for the two main characters thrown into one of modern life’s most horrifying realities, little can change the way they feel about each other. Liberty and A’shai are determined to stay together despite the difficulties, but things get complicated once their past life catches up with them.

Ashley & JaQuavis bring us this classic love story set against modern life’s most horrifying realities.
Liberty is dying of a fatal heart condition, though she desperately wants to survive until her twenty-fifth birthday, when her sister has promised to visit her. A’shai blames himself for not protecting Liberty, but all Liberty asks is for A’shai to tell her a story, to help her remember what brought them to this point. He knows that this is the last story he will ever tell—and the last she will ever hear.
As Liberty lies dying, A’shai walks her through their past, reliving their ill-fated journeys through the streets. Their story will take them from an arranged marriage, through Mexico’s drug cartel, child brothels, and hustling in Detroit, to escaping the high-powered heads of LA’s underworld. But ultimately, this is a story of love and redemption that will leave you breathless from the unpredictable and mind-blowing ending.
