How to read the Garage Sale Mysteries in order

Not to be confused with Sherry Harris’ series of the same name, Suzi Weinert’s Garage Sale mysteries is a series of mystery novels centering on Jennifer Shannon, a suburban mom trying to organize garage sales to break the monotony of her spare time. What she doesn’t expect, though, is crime and mystery are about to begin and that it’s going to be up to her to get to the bottom of things.

Overview of Garage Sale Mystery Series

The Garage Sale Mysteries series comprises four books centered on Jennifer Shannon, a suburban mom with a good eye for detail whose garage sales result in mayhem, leaving her to solve a slew of crimes ranging from foul play to theft to murder.

The series was adapted into a movie series by Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The adaptation spans sixteen movies released between 2013 and 2020, starring Lori Loughlin as Jennifer. It currently stands at the rating of 7.2/10 at IMDB.

The Garage Sale Mystery film series

Garage Sale Mysteries films are a series of television movies based on Suzi Weinert’s book series of the same title. The movies follow Jennifer Shannon, an amateur sleuth solving crimes and mysteries in her spare time. In one episode, Jennifer even finds herself caught in a killer’s web of dangerous lies.

While the film stars Lori Loughlin as Jennifer Shannon, the rest of the cast includes Steve Bacic as Jennifer’s husband, Jason, Sarah Strange as her friend Dani, Kevin O’Grady as detective Frank Lynwood, and Eva Bourne as Hannah Shannon. Thanks to its success, the series generated two spin-offs: Fixer Upper Mysteries (2017–2018) and Chronicle Mysteries (2019–2021).

Author of the Garage Sale Mystery books

Suzi Weinert drew a lot of inspiration for her work from her own life. She moved eleven times across the U.S. and overseas, being a military wife and the mother of five children doing her best to raise them and make them feel at home no matter where they were.

Being constantly on the move, she came to appreciate the benefits of second-hand and garage sales, which eventually became her twenty-year-long passion and the central plot point in her fiction.

Weinert’s experience with garage and yard sales proved more than useful. Her books were quickly recognized as unique and full of potential, and Weinert’s life quickly did a one-eighty when Hallmark offered to adapt her work into a movie.

Weinert is now in her 80s, but she does not plan on stopping.

FAQ

Will Hallmark ever show Garage Sale Mysteries again?

The series was canceled in 2019 in the wake of Loughlin’s being fired from Hallmark. In fact, the series was abruptly canceled in the middle of filming Three Little Murders, so the film never aired.

She was charged with a conspiracy involving fraud and college admission schemes, but she was released on a $1 million bail. Judging by the scope of the scandal, it is not very likely that there will be another Garage Sale mystery movie, at least not with the old cast. If you’re itching for more, you can enjoy other Hallmark series, such as those featuring Aurora Teagarden, or other crime shows distributed by other companies, such as Prime Suspect.
