How to read the Spy School series in order
Spy School books are a series of young adult novels by the American author Stuart Gibbs. The series centers on Benjamin Ripley, the least ordinary twelve-year-old boy you can imagine. While his peers are outside playing, Benjamin attends a secret CIA school for young spies and saves the world on a regular basis.
Who is the author of Spy School books?
Stuart Gibbs is one of the most popular children’s and young adult authors, most known for his Spy School and FunJungle book series. Gibbs was born in 1969 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he spent his early childhood and discovered his passion for storytelling, which led him to become a screenwriter for movies and TV shows for ABC, Fox, and Nickelodeon.
Gibbs started his career as a novelist in 2010, when his debut novel, Belly Up, came out. The book met a lot of success, inspiring Gibbs to continue working on new stories that would later be known as the FunJungle series and include seven books in total.
Gibbs is an outdoorsman, enjoying real-life adventures with his children, whom he regularly takes on hiking and ski trips. His biggest literary inspirations are Roald Dahl and Douglas Adams, whose humor often shines through on Gibbs’s own pages.
An intro to Stuart Gibbs’s writings
Since his career took off in 2010, Gibbs has written numerous children’s and young adult books across several long-running series, such as the Spy School, Fun Jungle, Moon Base Alpha, Charlie Thorne, and The Last Musketeer series. In addition, Gibbs has also written several graphic novels, including a Batman story. In 2023, he is set to release eight new books.
The Spy School series
The Spy School novels are Gibbs’s most widely read series. It features ten novels released in the past decade, with new installments planned for 2023.
The story follows the exploits of Ben Ripley, a twelve-year-old middle school student recruited by the CIA for their secret agent program for young children. While seemingly leading a normal life, Ben is constantly on his way to save the world, accompanied by his extraordinary schoolmates, who help him take down one villain after another.
The books are meant for ages 8 to 12.
