As someone who is super enthuasitic about autohotkey applications and wrappers, fastKeys is just OK Don't get me wrong its a great program, however it has given me way too many headaches though: I bought program but it constantly forgets I put in a key Its pretty much disabled my keyboard a few times and I had to spend a good amount of time fixing it A lot of hotkeys I don't need outside the box Couldn't disable a lot of things I didn't want, it came all prepackaged Learning curve took awhile to figure out For me I need something very robust and reliable and fastKeys just feels finicky to me, has let me down way too many times, so I just gave up on it In terms of features, this is why its great: Has strokePlus like features for using mouseGestures to do common tasks. Fairly easy to program too Can put native autohotkey inside of it, making managing autohotkey easy Personally if you don't care for mouse gestures (or use a dedicated program like StrokePlus) and don't need custom autohotkey applications or don't own a windows PC I suggest using phraseExpress instead PhraseExpress icon PhraseExpress

FastKeys is a true timesaver. It can automate most of your Windows repetitive and tedious tasks and commands by providing you with shortcuts, a wide choice of mouse gestures, auto-complete routines, etc. All the elements in the in-built libraries are fully configurable, and you can add as many new ones as needed. As a bonus, it also helps you configure your start menu in the most convenient way. The program’s nice-looking and intuitive interface is organized into five main areas – the start menu, the shortcuts, the text expander, the auto complete strings, and the mouse gestures. Each of these areas opens a list of already existing entries, which you can easily edit and modify by right-clicking on one of them. New entries are equally easy to create, as the program offers you extensive libraries of commands, key strokes, and scripts for you to add to your new automated tasks. The text expander will transform known abbreviations into full text regardless of the application you are using. The auto-complete function works in a similar fashion, using advanced algorithms that recognize and predict words and phrases in a snap. When available, you can also make use of FastKeys’ support for touch screens and create your own start menu to launch your favorite apps in a fast and efficient way. Mouse gestures are probably one of the program’s more interesting features – it allows you to make the most of your mouse by assigning commands and complex tasks to a simple movement of your mouse. Shortcuts are very much like macros – they will allow you to perform nearly any Windows task with a simple keystroke. This includes the use of macros, shortcuts, auto text-complete and basically anything that can automate a process. A software designed to help you with this is FastKeys. It’s shareware program that has plenty of features which can help you automate processes, such as a text expander for the automatic completion of frequently typed words, a start menu with custom commands and shortcuts, as well as a mouse gesture feature.

FastKeys Automation is a Text Expander. You can assign a few characters as a shortcut, and when you type the shortcut, the program replaces it with a few words or a few paragraphs. It is worth the exceptionally low price just for that. But it is far more sophisticated. You can assign variables for user input during the Text Expansion. You are prompted to type your input, select from a list, or even pull data from an Excel spreadsheet. In addition to the Text Expander, the program includes modules for keystroke macros and customizable popup start menus. All this in an easy-to-use program. I was productive in less than 30 minutes. Time savings come in small pieces (5 secs here, 30 seconds there) but add up over the course of your day. It paid for itself in less than a week. This program is a Gem.
