This is fantastic. I’ve been searching for a text-to-speech app for mass consumption of scholarly articles for grad school prep while I go about the monotonous tasks of life. I am so amazed by the technology of speechify and how it is perfectly tailoring my ADHD brain, providing a non-medicated way for me to focus and digest various writings. Thank you for making this!!

So helpful with ADHD. It tells you how many minutes it’ll take to read, taking away SO much of the intimidation I get from having to read anything. Pause at any time. It highlights the full sentence it’s on and follows along word-by-word “double highlighted.” It allows for dark mode. Love that for my light sensitivity! Tap the word you want it to start reading at if you’re skipping around. It’ll do exactly what you ask it to do. I wasn’t expecting it to be so good. I scanned two pages of my textbook. It even got the fine print and didn’t skip around to different paragraphs in a dumb way—even though the margins and pictures are designed in an awful way even for a human to read (thanks, dear engineers too cheap or stupid to hire real graphic designers with typography skills). It even read “g/mm^3” as “grams per cubic millimeter,” not “g slash m m carrot 3.” To top it off, the voice isn’t entirely annoying. The best automated voice imo, and believe me I’ve tried a ton. Maybe you can change the voice, but idk bc I just started playing with the app. Now I’m writing this review when I should be reading my textbook. Anyway, go ahead and download this app if you’re even on this page considering it—which ofc you are if you’re reading this rn. Good day. Edit—a few minutes later : Yes, you can change the voice. There are MANY to choose from! Excited to try them.

I’m dyslexic and I’ve always struggled reading textbooks. Whether they’re too long or too compact or the font doesn’t make sense to me I almost always wouldn’t read it. With speechify it’s made it significantly easier to actually retain this information that is pertinent to my degree so that I can continue on with life and not just skate through like I did in high school truly a lifesaver!

I am SO grateful there is FINALLY a app that is capable of reading out loud for me! With ADHD, Anxiety, and learning disabilities I struggle with just getting though a page, and I love to collect books and as much information as possible with ALL the good intentions possible to read and grow! I beat myself up for buy all the things I do (reading wise) bc I struggle with getting that time and focus long enough to read. Being a single momma of three kids ages 12,6,&5 and a fur mama of a cat and dog, I am very busy. Being able to hear the information of topics I am super interested in is LIFE CHANGING! I love my audiobooks! But when wanting to read websites (just finally was able to listen/read about CBT for ADHD on a website by copy and pasting the url! Life changing!), college text books (haven’t tried this feature just yet but I plan to soon) and I am looking forward to being able to have my email read about my kids endless school stuff! I have been searching for YEARS now for something that could help me and hands down this is what I have needed! Thank you for creating this app. Also keeping this app’s add on features at a reasonable price! I will be doing the add on for the speed preference and I want to support someone who created something so user friendly and for those like me who want to grow and yet are stuck and struggle with all the personal stuff that keeps us from growing! Thank you!

I have been able to do other tasks while listening to textbooks and novels for school. Speechify allows me to pick up the pace of the words and get through more material. This keeps me focused and motivated! Thank you!!!

This has been a godsend in my university studies! This has been remarkably helpful for getting through a plethora of history and philosophy books. Paying a little bit of money to get the additional voices makes it even easier to get through really dull books with a really great collection of voices. being dyslexic I’ve also really enjoyed using this app to help me read various news articles and other online materials. I recommend this app to all of my friends that are dyslexic, ADD, or are just staring university class.

This is the best tool ever for reading and learning. It’s fantastic especially for people with dyslexia otherwise branded as “slow readers” because what non-dyslexic people read once, dyslexic people are reading roughly 3 times because our eye-to-brain comprehension (For lack of a better word) takes letters from words that are above below and beside the word you’re currently reading and creates a word that does not even exist in the paragraph which could always change the entire meaning of what you are reading. Speech if I prevent that from happening by reading to you and most importantly allowing you to follow along with your eyes if you need to do that in order to fully understand what is being said and read. Speechify also allows you to do other things as you listen such as take notes or execute activities as they are being explained to you by speechify. It is the most brilliant app to date that has ever been made.

I remember going to lot of seminars and being picked to read and sweating in my chair because I knew that as soon as I started reading, I would say things backwards and I would just freeze. For someone to come up with this amazing program good for you!! And thank you for thinking of others God bless in your success.

I can’t tell you how thankful I am for this app. While there is room for improvement with importing PDFs, this app has helped me feel hopeful that I can get through all of my reading responsibilities. I used to procrastinate with reading PDFs. Now, I can see how much time it will take me to listen/read a PDF. I prefer not to do other things in the background while listening/reading because I want to improve my reading/focusing skills. If I am really desperate to read a physical book, then I will snap photos of the book and stop using my dyslexia as an excuse when there isn’t an audio book option.

Thank you. This is a marvelous gift to the world and most appreciated among a fellow dyslexic ❤️

I have always loved reading fiction novels, as my mind could float away into the descriptions. I’ve had a vivid imagination and fiction gave me permission to use it. As I grew older went through school, careers etc. the content I was suppose to absorb became, dry. I would drift off into my to-do lists, or conversations I was reflecting upon, anything and everything that was not the content in front of me. I would read over and over and retain nothing. This was frustrating because I excel in reading comprehension, always have. I’ve pretty much either avoided reading dry information and leaned in YouTube or podcasts to provide what I need to learn, or spend 10x the amount of time trying to read through the boring. This app is a game changer. The fact that it has higher speeds is SUPER helpful as I forget to listen when people talk slow. I cannot wait to explore more! Cliff, your story was so moving. I’m grateful for people like you who pushed through and innovated to make a difference for so many others struggling! Gosh and your parents in the trenches with you, incredible humans. Thank you.
