Who is Daniel Silva?
Born in Michigan, Daniel Silva is an American journalist and author best known for authoring spy thriller novels. He abandoned his studies to accept a full-time job at United Press International, working as a correspondent in the Middle East, mainly reporting from Cairo. While over there, Silva met his wife, Jamie Gangel, a CNN executive producer. Thanks to his wife’s support, Daniel Silva began to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a writer. It didn’t take him long before he became a bestselling author, as his first book, The Unlikely Spy, immediately became a success. Which series were written by Daniel Silva?
As mentioned, Daniel Silva is the man behind the Michael Osbourne and Gabriel Allon books. We’ll now give you a brief overview of both, in case you aren’t aware of what they are about.
Michael Osbourne series
The story of the first book, The Mark of the Assassin, starts at the crash site of a commercial airliner, where the investigators find a corpse with three shots to its head—the signature mark of an infamous assassin. Unfortunately for Michael Osbourne, a CIA agent, he has seen the same marks on a woman he once loved. This leads him on a dangerous search for the killer, risking his life and the lives of his family members along the way. The second book in the series, The Marching Season, finds Michael Osbourne in the middle of a dangerous situation in Northern Ireland. After three brutal terrorist attacks, Britain is once again in the flames of a centuries-long conflict. However, things take a turn for the worse, as Osbourne’s father-in-law is set to become the new American ambassador in London, becoming a target of another mastermind assassin, known as October.
Gabriel Allon series
After writing two books in the Michael Osbourne series, author Daniel Silva took on a new task. He started his Gabriel Allon novels, a book franchise about an Israeli intelligence officer hunting down people responsible for various attacks on his people. Most of the books in the series revolve around the aftermath of the Munich attack on Israeli athletes. Currently, there are over twenty entries in the series, each worth reading, as they offer some of the best that the spy thriller genre has to offer. Throughout the books, Gabriel Allon visits various places, such as the Vatican and Russia, takes up different identities, one of them being an Italian master art restorer, as well as tackles the fact that he is the son of Holocaust survivors.
