Aurora Teagarden Movies
In 2014, Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel acquired the rights to Harris’ series. The movies were to be adapted into a series of television movies starring Candace Cameron Bure as Aurora, Lexa Doig as Sally Allison (her best friend), Marilu Henner as Aida Teagarden (her mother and the town’s real estate agent), Niall Matter as Nick Miller (her neighbor and future husband), Dylan Sloane as Phillip (her cousin who goes missing in one of the episodes), Robin Dunne as Robin Daniels (a mystery author), and Yannick Bisson as Martin Bartell (a former CIA agent). Just Harris’ novels, the series was mostly light-hearted, at least for murder mysteries. There were no graphic details, and the murder scenes are never tastelessly gory, but they’re gripping enough to draw your attention and get your crime-solving wheels spinning. The series aired between 2015 and 2022, with eighteen films released in total, before it was canceled due to Bure’s transferring to GAC Family. The series remains popular, however, sitting at a rating of 7.4/10 on IMDB.
