Learn everything about one of the most popular manga series with Boruto manga reviewed.

Boruto is the latest manga series to be released by Masashi Kishimoto. The sequel to Naruto, it follows the story of Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto Uzumaki's son.

This new series continues the franchise by expanding on Naruto's world through a new set of characters. Here’s a review one of manga fans’ most anticipated sequels.

The premise and story of Boruto

Boruto: Naruto Next Generation is a monthly manga series that continues with the Naturo franchise. Ukyo Kodachi was the writer for the first 51 chapters of the series, and Masashi Kishimoto and assistant Mikio Ikemoto took over as the writer from chapter 52.

The story has since been adapted into a movie: Boruto: Naruto the Movie and features new characters and intriguing plots.

Boruto is Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Uzumaki’s son. His first appearance in the franchise was at Naruto’s series finale.

Set in an era of peace, achieved with the sacrifice of the shinobi during the Fourth Great Ninja War, Boruto strives to become a great ninja and fight for his destiny. He wants to feel worthy of fighting for the future of Hokage.

Naruto and Baruto manga series were both adapted into an anime television series. While the manga series starts with the film’s retelling, the boruto anime begins as a prequel, introducing Boruto and his friends before they became ninjas.

  • My Story. Momoshiki is the new enemy in the village, but Naruto and his allies have it under control. That’s until he transforms into a powerful form.
  • The Value of a Hidden Ace. When Boruto became a ninja, the last thing he thought he would have to do was babysit. However, he has the mission to guard Tento, Daimyo’s son.
  • Ao. Kara is a mysterious organization trying to recover their lost vessel. In the meantime, Boruto spars against his father.
  • Karma. Boruto and his team have the mission to rescue Konohamaru. However, it gets more complicated when Ao shows up. He’s old but has powerful ninja tools to recover the vessel. It’s actually the same vessel the Kara organization is looking for. What’s so important about it?
  • Kawaki. Boruto meets a boy named Kawaki with the same karma mark he’s seen before. Meanwhile Boruto is trying to figure out the true nature of the cursed Baryon Mode power he’s been given.
  • Monsters. Kawaki will need protection from the Kara infiltrators coming to Kohana Village looking for him.
  • Up to You. In the next Boruto chapter, he looks on from the sidelines as a vicious fight breaks out between his father and Delta. However, he and the kids may be forced to intervene when Delta uses heinous tactics.
  • He’s Bad News. A new threat arrives in the village. Naruto Uzumaki has been able to protect Boturo and Kawasi so far, but now Kara’s leader Jigen is involved.

  • The Right Job for Idiots and Bastards. There is only one member of Kara left standing, and he wants revenge.

Boruto and Naruto: Similarities and differences

The Boruto manga series introduces a new generation of ninjas that will eventually become more powerful than their parents.

At the beginning of this manga chapter, it’s clear that father and son struggle to get along.

As the story progresses, however, they start noticing similarities between them, especially in their fighting style. This is one of the main factors that bring them closer. Here are some of their main similarities and differences:

  • Boruto’s fighting style is similar to his father’s. One great example is the frequent use of the shadow clone technique. As time passes, it’s clear this technique has become the Uzumaki bloodline signature move.
  • Another similarity between father and son is their looks. They both have bright yellow hair and distinctive cheek lines. In the anime version of the series, Boruto looks exactly like Naruto when he was young.
  • Every member of the Uzakami bloodline is born with chakra reserves. However, in the story, Naruto’s chakra is way more impressive than his son’s.
  • The base strength Boruto has is thanks to Naruto’s genes. The Uzumaki blood gives Boruto an extra power boost.
  • Another powerful trait Naruto has passed to his son are the agility and adaptability he uses to fight hand-to-hand.
  • Both Naruto and Boruto learned how to perform the Rasengan before they should have. While Naruto learned it to combat Sasuke’s Chidori, Boturo did it to prove he was as powerful as his father.
  • Boruto is not as focused on girls as his father was when he was a teenager. However, Boruto enjoys using the inappropriate jutsu created by his father from time to time.
  • Naruto had a crush on Sakura when he was younger, but it was not reciprocated. Boturo, on the other hand, has better luck with women. Both Sumire and Sarada admitted to having a crush on him.
  • One day Boruto learns a prophecy from Toneri Otsutsuki in a dream. The next morning, he wakes up with a Jodan in his right eye that not even Naturo can explain.
