"Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today."
Sir Richard BransonNeed to be considered for all parent This app is quite a nice educational app. This is just a trial version. Although it's layout a bit dull, but it help children in their pronunciation skills. Price for upgrade version is quite reasonable too.

Early-level reading app Reading Magic was created to assist users in improving their ability to speak, listen, and read. Users can "segment" words, or utter the individual letter sounds that make up a word, in the speaking section of the app. The listening section of the app mixes individual letter sounds into words. Users must apply their combination and segmenting abilities from the previous two activities in the third section, which is reading, to read a word. Reading Magic is a relatively straightforward educational program, despite having three separate tasks. The majority of words only have three or four letters, therefore the app is best suited for kids between the ages of four and seven, especially those who struggle with reading aloud.
This app looks so simple, and it is. However, it is incredibly powerful, effective, and works wonders with struggling readers.

Reading Machine, a new app recently featured by Apple, raises the bar for beginning readers. This software supports the reading process by demonstrating how the letters and sounds in a word go together, thus reducing reader irritation. When a child encounters a word that he cannot read and is unfamiliar with, he enters it into the reading machine. The app sounds out the word so that the youngster can try to decipher it by fusing the sounds together to form the word. The app has a dictionary with over 5,000 terms. He can then express the entire word when "asking" for more assistance. Children may find it challenging to learn to read, particularly if they have dyslexia or another learning disability. The saddest aspect is that your child might not receive the support they require from books alone. Among other difficulties, books may utilize strange sentence structures or fail to describe complex words. Thankfully, Reading Machine can assist with these problems. Reading Machine provides text-to-speech, phonics support, and a superb dictionary of widely used English terms to assist young readers who are having trouble understanding what they are reading. Over 125 books for beginner readers are available on the app. Additionally, it gives you reading lists based on your child's interests and proficiency. On the Apple App Store, Reading Machine is available for no cost.

Perfect for children to learn reading the right way! This update is excellent, especially with the addition of great explainations of what blending and segmenting are and how important these are for building a firm foundation. Preschool U's apps are the only ones I found that actually teach children the proper way to learn to read. I love the updated interface and games. Keep up the good work!!!

Valuable, but flawed for PreK-2 Instruction Great app for phonemic awareness and phonics, but the words used are frequently not within a preschooler's listening or speaking vocabularies, which makes some of the items quite challenging and instruction ineffective. Even in this video, we see the reading of the word "hull" and then a picture of grain. How many preschoolers have heard or will use the word "hull" with any frequency? Updating this app with more appropriate words for PreK-2nd grade children would improve it's effectiveness.

The perfect app! I purchased the app for my 23 year old autistic son who has never been able to read more than a few simple words. He loves the app and uses it every day to de-code words. He is fascinated with "text to speech" and this app has provided a key link in developing word recognition. I would highly recommend this app, particularly for adults with developmental disabilities.

Great for students!! This app is awesome for assisting students become independent readers. Initially I could not get the audio to work but I contacted the developer to help me figure out the issue. Seems the iPad has a glitch which MUTES some apps, even though the MUTE option is not selected. The way the app breaks down the words clearly showing the blends and digraphs enables students to learn not only the word but the sounds as well. The ability to download additional book titles makes it so that nearly every word my students come across is pronounced correctly in a realistic voice. Great filter for words which should not be said out loud!!! Kudos!!

Makes reading fun! My 6 year old had decided that reading was "boring" and we were struggling with getting her to complete her daily reading assignments. That is until we found the Reading Machine. This application allows our daughter to read on her own and independently type words into the application when she is struggling and learn how to sound it out. It has even helped her with spelling, as she likes to play with the App typing in words. If they don't sound out correctly she knows she has to try and spell the word a different way. Since using the Reading Machine our daughter is excited about reading again and has hooked her 4 year old brother too! Thanks for this wonderful tool!!
