Sir Richard BransonThis app looks so simple, and it is. However, it is incredibly powerful, effective, and works wonders with struggling readers.

Reading Machine, a new app recently featured by Apple, raises the bar for beginning readers. This software supports the reading process by demonstrating how the letters and sounds in a word go together, thus reducing reader irritation. When a child encounters a word that he cannot read and is unfamiliar with, he enters it into the reading machine. The app sounds out the word so that the youngster can try to decipher it by fusing the sounds together to form the word. The app has a dictionary with over 5,000 terms. He can then express the entire word when "asking" for more assistance. Children may find it challenging to learn to read, particularly if they have dyslexia or another learning disability. The saddest aspect is that your child might not receive the support they require from books alone. Among other difficulties, books may utilize strange sentence structures or fail to describe complex words. Thankfully, Reading Machine can assist with these problems. Reading Machine provides text-to-speech, phonics support, and a superb dictionary of widely used English terms to assist young readers who are having trouble understanding what they are reading. Over 125 books for beginner readers are available on the app. Additionally, it gives you reading lists based on your child's interests and proficiency. On the Apple App Store, Reading Machine is available for no cost.
In-text Cited Sources I absolutely love the app. Although, I would love there to be an update where I could choose the option to not have the in-text cited sources read allowed in the articles within my library. It often distracts and corrupts the flow of a very interesting sentence. Overall, great app! Thank you!

The perfect app! I purchased the app for my 23 year old autistic son who has never been able to read more than a few simple words. He loves the app and uses it every day to de-code words. He is fascinated with "text to speech" and this app has provided a key link in developing word recognition. I would highly recommend this app, particularly for adults with developmental disabilities.

Great for students!! This app is awesome for assisting students become independent readers. Initially I could not get the audio to work but I contacted the developer to help me figure out the issue. Seems the iPad has a glitch which MUTES some apps, even though the MUTE option is not selected. The way the app breaks down the words clearly showing the blends and digraphs enables students to learn not only the word but the sounds as well. The ability to download additional book titles makes it so that nearly every word my students come across is pronounced correctly in a realistic voice. Great filter for words which should not be said out loud!!! Kudos!!

Makes reading fun! My 6 year old had decided that reading was "boring" and we were struggling with getting her to complete her daily reading assignments. That is until we found the Reading Machine. This application allows our daughter to read on her own and independently type words into the application when she is struggling and learn how to sound it out. It has even helped her with spelling, as she likes to play with the App typing in words. If they don't sound out correctly she knows she has to try and spell the word a different way. Since using the Reading Machine our daughter is excited about reading again and has hooked her 4 year old brother too! Thanks for this wonderful tool!!

Works well It does sound a bit digital but once I settle in to listening I understand it very well. Really love the dialects font! The app does need a bookmark feature.

Amazing Technology! For an application on a smart phone, this is probably the most useful app ever had! I use this application to listen to textbooks. It works with dropbox so that I can print sections of my text books, open them from Dropbox using vBookz, & listen! One major benefit is that it stores the files locally on the phone storage, and does not require an Internet connection to read the files aloud. This enables listening on airplanes that do not have Wi-Fi connections (or saves paying the fee for access). This app does say words "Incorrectly", but usually they are not so much incorrect as they are out of context. (BI - abbreviation for business intelligence is said bi, like bi-lateral.) If the author used B.I., it may have read it correctly. This should not prevent anybody who wants to have books read aloud to them (while exercising, driving, or resting your eyes from hours of reading) from getting this, because it truly is an amazing application!

Excellently working Excellently working but Shuffling while reading some of the books, Not reads in the order of content is displayed, for example, it reads directly the the second para without reading first. Suggestion:- before buying these apps read your pdf book through speak option in iBooks or free apps, if it meets your requirement then purchase these vbz & vdr apps. These apps are exactly works same like iBook and not works like acrobat pdf reader readout loud feature, only difference observed between iBooks and these apps(vbz & vdr), ibooks reads out loud only upon selection. Vbz & vdr apps reads out loud whole book with or without selection.
