Most popular feedback for Writer’s Workbench

Writer's Workbench is an outstanding tool for our students to use throughout the writing process. Our students specifically use the 2.1 Style Statistics analysis quite a bit. It provides information on use of "being verbs" as well as a readability level. Students become knowledgeable about what good writing entails, but learn how to create good writing, by using their own writing. Greg has been extremely helpful throughout the many years we have been with WWB. Any problems have always been addressed within hours. Finally, the online version is seamless. Students can use WWB from any device - PC's or Macs, even iPads. It's very user-friendly and takes only a minute or two to create an account and start using the tool. It's the only writing program we've ever used. Whether it's for test-prep or creating good writers, Writer's Workbench is an indispensable tool for our school and for our students.

Most popular feedback for Merriam Webster Dictionary

The dictionary is good for what it is designed. It provides word pronunciation, part of speech and various definitions and usages. There are various third party uses for dictionaries, but the website doesn't provide any activities or extension. It is a tool to help you understand words and word meanings. Just like any tool, it only works if our students use the tool.

Writer’s Workbench reviews

WWB offers my students objective feedback about their writing that helps them improve their writing. At a time when assessment has moved to the forefront in education, it provides a tool to measure writing skills.

- Paul Peterson, English Teacher, North Iowa Area Community College

I love Writer's Workbench. I not only use it for myself, I am writing a novel, but I have my children use it. We homeschool, and have done so for over 20 years. This program is TERRIFIC for writing. My children type up the writing assignments, Writer's Workbench shows them how to improve their writing. Not only that, it also TEACHES them different writing principals!! WE LOVE THIS PROGRAM! THANKS!

- Sherry Gammon

Writers Workbench has been an extremely helpful tool in the creation of thesis papers for my high school junior English class. The ability to scan the papers for passive voice, grammar, and repetition has been a great help in raising my grades. Thank you!

Merriam Webster Dictionary reviews

I downloaded the top few dictionary apps, turned off all wifi/data and launched them all for the first time. This one works offline (even the games; however, the pronunciation audio clips require an online connection), links to synonymous and antonymous words work effortlessly, and the app doesn't require you to register to use it (*ahem oxford*). Overall, I'd say this one is currently miles better than the rest. I will say, the ads popping up every now and then are a bit of a nuisance though.

- Anton Ross

The app once let you speak into the microphone and converted to text for word meaning. No longer it does this. They actually reduce features. I never would believe a reputable company like Webster would resort to what looks like smoke and mirrors. I took out a subscription thinking that the this feature was in the paid version but it was not only a typical feature reduction.

When I press the speaker icon to hear the word being pronounced nothing happens. I have to tap it several times before it eventually works. Maybe it needs time to "warm up" 05/08/22 Now when I press the button to hear the spoken word I get the last part of the word. The first syllable is not heard. I have to hit it 3-4 times before I hear the full word. Sent an email. Let's see if I hear back. Otherwise, I'll just uninstall and find another dictionary.
