Byword is comparable to iA Writer and WriteRoom in that they are all lightweight, distraction-free writing apps. However, iA Writer has more features than the others. Byword's strength is its ability to export and publish directly to Blogger, Evernote, Medium, Tumbler, and WordPress. For budget-minded writers who compose reasonably short pieces for the web, it's a fine option. That said, we would like Byword to add a library tool and templates, plus improve its saving options.

The designers of this app have put a lot of thought into the UX. It’s beautiful, really easy to use and does not have annoying watermarks or pop-ups which ask you for money like other camera scanning software
Download our app if you possess a Notebloc notebook because, if you already adore them, the app will make you even more smitten. The notebook brand of the twenty-first century is Notebloc. All of our goods are created for those who regularly write and draw. Since our software allows you to scan your sketches, drawings, and notes, convert them to PDF or JPG with a single click, share them online, and access them from any device, anywhere, Notebloc notebooks are printed with our distinctive inverted grid and are all compatible with it. All of this will significantly broaden the scope of your notebook and enhance your Notebloc experience. Utilizing the Notebloc app: - You can change Notebloc's inverted grid into a white background: When you digitize your Notebloc, our application will remove the grid, which is an outstanding, creative, and practical support for your writing and sketching operations. We are confident that this will increase your comfort level when editing, tweaking, or rereading your text on electronic devices. Try out the app to find out for yourself! - Notebloc mathematically fits your images (see example above), making the image on the screen perfectly straight, as if you had shot the picture at a perfect 90 degree angle. This corrects the perspective of your photographed piece of paper. Imagine being able to digitize your notes in any situation, at any time, and anywhere with the ideal light intensity. - We remove any traces of shade from your images. That might seem impossible, but the Notebloc software will make your digital notes appear flawless, clear, and free of any light or shadow-related flaws. You will only see what you have drawn or written on a background of pure white in your digital image. The application allows you to: - Produce documents and save them as JPG or PDF files. - Distribute papers over the internet using e-mail, instant messaging, social media, etc. - Rename the files. - Arrange papers according to creation or edition dates. - Determine the size of the PDF in which you want to save your notes. - Digitalize any pictures or other files you want to save alongside your Notebloc notes. - You can add, copy, and rearrange pages within a single document.
I feel iOS version is better than Mac version. Would love to see a safety mechanism from deleting files or folders by accident. As of right now, all you have to do is swipe a file or folder to expose the delete button. One touch and file is gone. I accidentally deleted a file once from grazing the button by accident. There needs to be a pop up menu or something to prevent that. Thanks for listening
Been using the Desktop version for several months now. Really enjoyed writing Rich text based documents on my computer with this app. When I finally bit the bullet and purchased the iOS Version, I unfortunately discovered after the purchase that the iOS version does not support Rich text. That detail was at the very bottom of the description and to be fair I made an assumption that the iOS version of the app would work the same as the desktop version. I can’t understand why rich text is not supported, and if I had known (I guess it’s my bad for not reading every single bit of description all the way to the very bottom) that I would be unable to sync those types of documents across devices, I would’ve gone with a different platform.
Byword is my go-to distraction free writing app on the Mac and I used it on iOS for a while— but unfortunately the slow Dropbox syncing led me to explore other solutions for iOS. It seems like updates this year might have fixed this so hopefully it’s better now. I had Byword configured for a Dropbox folder that I use for journal entries and it has a couple hundred markdown files in it plus two sub folders with some text, markdown and a couple of old rtf (rich text) files in them. When I opened up Byword it would hang on ‘Downloading items’ or ‘Syncing Items’ for minutes and it made me nervous to open recent files and create possible conflicts in my Dropbox. That was a big blocker when I just wanted to open the app and start writing. I recently reinstalled the app and also removed the rtf files from this Dropbox folder (just in case) and things seem to be better— fingers crossed.
When I was a nursing student at SWTC WI circa 2009, my A&P instructor suggested 2 things necessary in order to pass his class: this app and a 200mg tab of Huperzine-A for memory recall. (For any future students, nursing or otherwise, Huperzine-A is an extract of the Huperzia serrata plant, and has been shown in numerous blind-studies to improve memory and learning from young students to seniors by helping to prevent neuronal cell death and by increasing levels of acetylcholine, the compound that functions as a neurotransmitter in the brain.) Do your own research, but for me, this app was one of the fundamental aspects to me now being able to call myself a Registered Nurse. I still use this app (paid version) on an almost daily basis, as I’m able to scan basic information such as medication list’s right into a clients chart or send my son a PDF of his W2’s so that he can do his own taxes. I’ve used this on both Android’s and iPhone’s, both platforms work as promised and I don’t foresee myself using anything else.
This is so useful. I initially had the companion notebook, but eventually just use the app. Anytime I am given an important document or note (like a referral from a doctor or a prescription) I immediately put it in Notebloc. I do my best not to misplace the original or forget it for the follow up. But when I do, the notebloc digital version has been sufficient! My only wish, since I have many documents in it, is to be able to organize them in folders. Saving them in the images folder is cumbersome, and I don’t like saving the documents in the images. That is a minor wish, this app has been a real timesaver, and allowed me to be much more organized and prepared on the go. Thank you!
Notebloc is very straightforward and there are never any problems being able to transfer photos to documents and sending those documents out. One of the easiest apps of the sort that I have been able to find and makes work and school much less stressful.
