“Speechify is absolutely brilliant. Growing up with dyslexia this would have made a big difference. I’m so glad to have it today.“

ColorNote is a very reliable note-taking tool. It is one of the best free Android notepad apps in the market so instead of settlling for a mediocre notepad and memo app, better go ahead and give this app a try.
KentA straightforward and fantastic notebook program is ColorNote®. When you make notes, memos, emails, messages, shopping lists, and to-do lists, it provides you with a quick and easy notepad editing experience. More than any other notepad or memo pad program, ColorNote® Notepad makes taking notes simple. Please read the FAQ below if you are unable to locate the widget. - An automated save command saves your unique note when you're done using the notepad. Product information Two standard note-taking forms are available in ColorNote®: a checklist option and a dotted-line option. To your master list, which shows up on the app's home screen each time the program is launched, you can add as many as you like. This list can be viewed by note color, grid format, or conventional ascending order. - Taking a Note - Acting as a straightforward word processor, the text option lets you enter as many characters as you like. Once the note has been saved, you can use the menu button on your device to modify, share, remind you of it, check it off, or delete it. When a text note is checked off, the app inserts a slash through the list's title, which is then shown on the home screen menu. Making a shopping or to-do list is possible in the checklist mode, where you are able to add as many things as you like and rearrange them in any order using drag controls that are active in the editing mode. Once the list is complete and saved, you may quickly tap each line to toggle the line slash and check or uncheck it. The title of the list is also slashed once all items have been checked. Features include: - Color-code notes (color notebook) - The sticky note memo widget (Put your notes on your home screen) - Checklist notes for the shopping list and to-do list. (Easy and quick list-making tool) - Notes for completing a checklist (GTD) - Plan your day using notes in a calendar. - Record journal entries and diaries in a calendar. - Note with Password Lock: Encrypt your notes. - Secured notes backup to SD storage Supports internet synchronization and backup. Between a phone and a tablet, notes can be synced. - Reminders displayed in the status bar List or Grid View Search notes Support for Notepad ColorDict Add-on - Effective task reminder: Timer, Daily, Repeat. on the lunar calendar - A hasty memo or note - Note in the wiki: [[Title]] - Send notes to others via Twitter, email, or SMS Cloud services for online backup and syncing - Notes will be protected using the AES standard, the same encryption standard used by banks to secure client data, before being uploaded. - Without your sign-in, none of your notes are sent to the server. - Use Facebook or Google to log in. Internet access is required for online note syncing and backup. Storage: To store backup notes on the device's storage - Prevent phone from going to sleep, manage the vibrator, and start it up automatically when the device boots up: For remembrance notes
This is a burgeoning, open source, markdown-based note taking app that is already highly capable, but is missing some key features related to mobile and various conveniences. I really hope in the next year it will grow into something spectacular. Hint: If Boostnote's feature set is too bare-bones for you at the moment, consider Inkdrop, which isn't open source but does support end-to-end encrypted sync (including to mobile), better shortcuts in the desktop version, syntax highlighting and gives you the first 60 days for free.
JohnFastmanOne excellent example of a note-taking app designed specifically for programmers is Boostnote. It does not have all of the features of a modern note-taking app (for example, it has formatting based on Markdown and organization based on folders, but it does not have web clipping or handwritten notes), but it does have snippets, which are something that programmers absolutely adore. You have the ability to collect and organize multiple code blocks into a single note, as well as embed code blocks directly within normal notes or create separate snippet-type notes that are designed specifically for this purpose. In addition to that, it is capable of managing tasks using checkbox-based lists. A brand new open-source application for taking notes, Boostnote is geared specifically toward computer programmers. Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Apple's macOS are the supported operating systems. It is built on electron, and the operation itself takes place offline.
User friendly and plenty of options. I use it all the time, especially throughout the day. I like to keep a running list of chores, errands and "notes to self." There are 7 optional colors making it easy to categorize. You can choose to write your note in a text format or as a checklist. Also cuts down on all the paper lists that are sometimes illegible and often misplaced. I highly recommend this app.

I recommend this application to all of my friends with ADHD. I have an extremely difficult time prioritizing tasks and remembering tasks and mundane stuff like what to go get at the store. This application is absolutely my external brain for that stuff. I have lists for everything and this application makes them very versatile for my needs. I can change the color and size of the list, I can rearrange the items on the list to shift their priority, and you check/uncheck as you go.

When I upgraded my phone to an LG G8 a few years back I needed to find a notepad app I could share between various devices. I went with ColorNote, and it's so easy to use that when I got a Samsung phone a couple of months ago, I stuck with ColorNote for my notepad app. My only issue is that I can't set it to open a note in the editor and I often try to edit a note in read-only mode.

This is note-taking software at its best, pure and simple; this from someone who has used oh so many note taking applications. If you are looking for a useful note-taking tool, whether it is for school, research, work, etc, this is that application. It is very streamlined, cross-platform (love that it runs on Linux, Windows, and Mac), and extremely simple to use, it is highly configurable and while it has a rich feature set, it isn't bloated like other note taking apps. This application along with Cryptomator is literal note-taking heaven, I have all of my notes in a secure format right in the cloud.

Brilliant design, fast working, but that's all. It's only about programming and for programmers, allows keep organized snippets.

It is a very nice and easy to use application. Has a pleasant design, and it allows you to use markdown for your notes. Files can be stored either on the computer or on the cloud.
